Today in The Journal News
One day before opening the spring schedule, the Yankees got away from George M. Steinbrenner Field for a day of games at a local arcade. Andrew Brackman, A.J. Burnett and Royce Ring were the big winners, while Mariano Rivera didn’t fare nearly as well as he did a year ago.
Joba Chamberlain skipped the trip because of flu-like symptoms. He’ll try to throw a bullpen today, which would keep him on schedule to pitch on Friday. The notebook also has items on Chad Gaudin, the developing lineup, the left-field situation, the upcoming pitching schedule and Andy Pettitte.

Quickly scanning the headline I had to pause because I initially thought he missed the outing because he was “homesick”
Which would have been ridiculous.
Bronx Jeers
I thought the same thing! I was wondering if he missed his son.

For anyone interested in last night’s debate on the relationship between a Pitcher’s “emotionality”, and their performance I list 2 items below :
1) please check the previous thread for my post @ 7:53.
2) Consult the JASP (Journal of Applied Sports Psychology).
GTLU starts right now….
My guess is…
SS Jeter
DH Johnson
1B Tex
3B Arod
C Posada
2B Cano
CF Granderson
RF Swisher
LF Gardner
Maybe I would flip flop posada & cano to break up the lefties & also for cano to learn how to hit better in the 5th hole especially as bad as he was last year with runners on
Btw Cano hit last year something like 206 with runers on & he had 90 something RBI’s can you imagine if he would hit about 300 how many RBI’s he could’ve had, he had the most chances in MLB with runers on last year WOW!!!!

Interesting – and good for Swish for not letting things fester and not being too intimidated to approach Jorge.
Here’s more of Swish:

Anybody know if most of the position players are supposed to play today?
If so my guess is that the lineup Jay posted will be what they start off with…not sure it will end up that way but I think they will start out with something close to that.
As you may or may not know, I volunteered to take over Guess The LineUp duties from Erica for the 2010 season. Erica did a fantastic job with this. And on the days I can’t run the game, Erica has graciously agreed to fill-in. I only hope I can be as effective as she was in running a good, clean game.
The rules for GTLU will not be changing substantially, with the exception of entry times. I will do GTLU on weekdays, and as my schedule allows, I may add a weekend game on a random basis, but I will give ample notice.
The rules are as follows:
GUESS THE LINEUP OFFICIAL RULES:
**Please note the time changes for the 2010 season.
1) “Guess the Line Up” will only be played during weekdays. (Weekend games may be randomly added, with advance notice given.)
2) For 7pm or later starts, the submission window is from 1:15 to 3:15. Any line ups posted after 3:15 will NOT be counted. For 1pm starts, the submission window is from 8:30am-10:30 am.
3) Once a new thread is posted, DO NOT post your line up on an old one. I may miss it. It is your responsibility to check to see if your name is on the list of line ups submitted.
4) When you submit your line up you should include players and positions. Please check your line up before you post it. You should have exactly 9 players and positions. Anything else is an incomplete line up and will not be entered into consideration.
5) Absolutely no revisions allowed. Check your line up before you post it.
6) If your handle is a body part, a bodily function, or a euphemism for a body part or function, I will ignore you and ban you.
Good luck!
If you click on my name, you will be linked to my blog, where I will keep the Rules posted and also keep a list of the current GTLU leaders.
For Spring Training, I will announce which games I will do GTLU for. I will not do all of them, but I think it will be good for me to do a few and get in the swing of things.
I will do GTLU today. And for today, I will accept lineups starting from 9:45 and ending at 11. I will post a ST GTLU schedule later in the day.
