I have been Joba’s No 1 Fan on this board and appreciate the positive comments of Bodh, 809, Franco Guiseppe (where is he?) and a FEW others.

SJ’s analysis of Joba this year is welcome. It is straight baseball talk whereas last year he was not in favor of Joba and anything, anything he said negative about Joba was verbatim in other poster’s comments.

I wish I had your writing skills to project the positives of Joba’s skills. I have a tendency to flare and did so last year several times making me persona non grata.

You will begin to identify those who are anti but won’t admit it and those going for a joke in a bad situation.
For the life of me, I can’t not understand why writers have to nit pick in the case of of – Why Joba is not Ace Material”. Does ‘if you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all’ ring a bell. Anyone?

I will try to follow your lead in all things Joba this season. If I read something that is totally moronic, I will still flare.

And in previous agruments I still believe that having Joba and Phil both in rotation is in the best interests of the Yankees. And a financial plus, also.

The April schedule calls for 5 days off plus the possibility of a weather cancellation during the 1st series in Boston.
Girardi may not need a 5th starter until early in May. It could become a problem of keeping arms stretched out. Somebody with options may start the season at AAA and it can’t be either Gaudin or Mitre.

Rich, I’m not keen on giving Lee a 5 or 6 year deal either. If Javy pitches well, I see no reason not to re-sign him. If Joba wins the #5 spot this year, then Phil needs to be in the rotation in 2011 – it’s as simple as that

I take Heyman’s column with a huge rock of salt, but either way, I am really skeptical about investing another $20m per year in a pitcher who is over 30. It’s all the more reason why they have to develop both Hughes and Joba as starters. You can always find quality arms for the pen. It’s incredibly hard to find talented young starters. The idea of putting both Joba and Hughes in the pen is pure madness beyond 2010.

Apparently Cervelli’s concussion today happened in the same place as in November…….I hope he’s going to be ok, but I would be shocked if he’s good to go as far as playing anytime soon.
