I’m sorry the Yanks didn’t sign Hechavarria. It seemed to me that the timing would have been perfect, as Blake pointed out. Jeter is great, but in two years he won’t have the range to be a good SS. Maybe Hechavarria expects to be starting the Majors next year.

I don’t buy the “Yankees can buy a guy later” thing. Then you overpay for the decline phase. It’s bad business.

Sounds like he’s planning on getting to the big leagues fast and is worried about Jeter…he’s only 19 so if he made the big leagues at 22, Jeter would be what 38 or 39 and could be close to moving anyway. Who knows.

Well you can’t blame the guy, the Yankees won’t let Jeter walk this year. I’m glad it’s not Carevelli or Montero Cashman was trying to sign.
