Kevin Long’s playing career stalled in Triple-A, but he got to the major leagues as a hitting coach to current all-stars and future Hall of Famers. “It’s not about having a name,” Jorge Posada said. “It’s having your back, and he has my back.”

Marcus Thames has plenty of major league at-bats, but he’s fighting to stay on the big league roster this spring. This is his second stint in pinstripes, and he’s trying to win a spot on the bench despite a minor league deal that offers no guarantees.

On Saturday, Alfredo Aceves continued making his case that he’s a legitimate option for the fifth spot in the Yankees rotation. Today’s notebook also has items on Curtis Granderson playing left field, Javier Vazquez making his second start and the Yankees making their first spring cuts.

Reading through the comments last night I think its funny how some people still think the reason Damon isn’t with the Yankees is because they didn’t want him. The Yankees wanted him and made him two competitive offers. Damon chose to stand firm on not taking a paycut from the Yankees to the level of his value. That’s why he’s a Tiger and no other reason. The guys the Yankees are replacing him with wil. Be fine, cheaper, and much much better defensively.

So true. We should only hope in our lives an employer “rejects” us by making the largest offer we receive for a job.

The KLong story should be tacked to the top of the blog.

This way, when the team has a hitting slump during the season, which it will, we can stop the moronic “Fire Kevin Long” posts before they crop up.

I guess it was inevitable after Damon hit his glorious ST homer off Mitre. It was only a matter of time before “the Yankees are doomed without Damon” talk started up.

let johnny use up his quota of hits against the yankees in spring training.

although he obviously has a couple of good (hitting)seasons left in him.

Now American-owned, Kurt Geiger has more than 50 UK branches, including a couple of swish concept stores, plus department-store concessions, and has become very successful at following (some might say copying) catwalk trends and delivering them to an aspirational market. I’m in Glasgow to launch my own shop for women on buzzy Buchanan Street and, as I’ve been told there’s a Kurt Geiger just up the road, I decide to pop in..

No matter what your story is, how fashion forward or behind you are, NYC will do wonderful things for taste buds, shopping, sightseeing, and most importantly making you feel fabulous and like a pretty woman.
