New look for LHYB
Hey everybody,
Jeff The Tech Guy here. Sometime tomorrow, we’ll be switching over to a new set of templates for The LoHud Yankees Blog. These templates are cleaner looking, load faster and allow us to feature more useful information. It also includes the Facebook Connect button, which will allow you to post comments with your Facebook account (You won’t be required to do this. It is optional).
Here is a preview of what the new blog will look like:
http://whiteplains.lohudblogs.com/
We’ll be adjusting it and building in new features as the season rolls along.
Feel free to send your questions and comments to jmarx@lohud.com. I’ll do my best to respond quickly, but it is a pretty busy time of year for us, as I’m sure you can imagine.

looks good to me…
Any changes to the mobile site?
Great! BTW…lose the Toyota banner on top. It is very distracting and screws up the screen every time! Thanks. Go Yanks!
I’m not sure I like the comments section in the new format
The blog itself looks nice, but I hope you can maintain the same clean look the comments have on this blog.
Its a big selling point.
@Nick
Nope. Not right now.
The new format looks awful.
commence the complaining in 3….2…..1
the facebook feature can display your picture on the right. pretty neat if you’re into that sort of thing.
What comment section? I was going to leave a “test” comment. But I didn’t want to be a jerk.
Why change it when it aren’t broken?
Just like that digital over-the-air broadcast TV c r a p. We used to be able to just grab a signal with a clothes hanger but now after wasting Billions of tax payer money ……
new format is sloooooooow and very cluttered. thumbs down.
Can’t be worse than the threaded comment section lol
So……. this is where Chris from the Sopranos went to work after the show was cancelled.
Thanks, Jeff.
The comment section doesn’t look very good… most blogs don’t have good comment sections, but this blog has a great one. Easy to read, scroll, perfect font size etc.
Rest of the blog looks fine though.
Jason,
I think he went to Mars first…

I left a comment in one of the past articles, find it and lets get a test going!
Keep in mind, the side bar will be the baseball version. It should be less cluttered. The blogs itself look fine I think. I like the alternating grey/blue white backgrounds for comments
looks fine to me, but then I’m a well-adjusted human being.
I meant, I like the alternating colors on THIS version. I hope it gets put over to the new version.
Coloring is easy to change once you get the format.
I must be missing something; when I click on the link, it brings me to an article. Is the format of the blog going to change? LOL I admit – I hate change.
I’ve gotten really used to the blue backgrounds on the comments here. The blue on the new site’s a little too subtle to show any differentiation.
But as long as the comments aren’t nested, I’m happy.
I don’t have facebook, but how many of you will post with your profile picture? That’s whack.
Sorry, it’s AWFUl. My eyes are terrible as is and now I’m going to need a magnifying glass to read this blog.
Great to hear from those behind the scenes!

Don’t worry Betsy, style stuff like font, size, color can be changed once you have the frame down.
Looks fine to me.
Then again I rarely, if ever, venture into the comments wasteland.
I prefer this version.
Here it is so simple to read the blog and post comments.
Why change the format when the need is unnecessary
“Sorry, it’s AWFUl. My eyes are terrible as is and now I’m going to need a magnifying glass to read this blog.”
OR your can adjust the font size in your browser.
What broweer are you using Betsy? Explorer, Firefox? Safari?
Hey Jeff, I like what you [guys?] did with the iPhone version of the page. Being able to listen to the audio without relying on flash is a nice touch. Keep up the good work!

Maybe if you didn’t spend all day everyday staring at this blog you’re eyes wouldn’t be so bad.
I don’t get what’s different about it, though. I hate change, but I promise to give it a chance as long as I can read. I use Internet Explorer -and as long as I an change the font, then I’m fine, lol.
Jeff, lol – I just sent a panic stricken (well, sort of) e-mail to you. If you read this, I apologize, and you can ignore it, lol.
“Why change the format when the need is unnecessary”
Define necessary?
ALL online publications want uniform software tools like forums, content management systems, etc… For no other reason their IT department has one system to maintain and monitor.
The new system probably offers LoHud and easier, cheaper, easiest to maintain, easier to monetize and likely most importantly, more secure system, which I imagine they want to use for their dozens if not hundreds of blogs.
Get ready for non stop whining.
“Maybe if you didn’t spend all day everyday staring at this blog you’re eyes wouldn’t be so bad.”
lol
Jerkface, that video was a joy to watch, but it’s also very hard to watch. I was out that evening, so I only caught highlights of the game; this is the first time I’ve seen Phil’s expression as he hurt himself. Ouch – poor kid looked like he was in agony.
Betsy,
If you’re on Explorer, look for the “View” tab near the top of your browser, look for it and click Tex Size… should be easy enough from there.
Oh, the “Zoom” option can also help
Or a magnifying glass..
Stuckey, thanks!
Or a magnifying glass, M, very true, lol. Well, if I get one, then I will be halfway to my Sherlock Holmes Halloween costume, lol
The blog is free. Say, thank you Jeff and stop complaining.
Who hired Michael Imperioli as the tech guy? Doesn’t he still have a successful acting career going for him?
Or you can just press CTRL + move you mouse up and down to zoom in or out as well.
Gotta go.
But here’s something to entertain you while I’m gone.

Hey guys, it’ll be less cluttered than the white plains blog sidebar and it’ll have all baseball stuff
And I just built in the alternating comment coloring as you guys requested.
And I thought it’s All Joba All the Time 24/7 on this blog.
m
LMAO
I could not even read the whole thing. It was SICK!!!
I wish the Yankees could get articles written about them like that.
I mean, the smartest man in baseball, Larry Lucchino. Because some dude 20 years ago called him that, I guess that makes him the smartest man in baseball.
The Red Sox do the same thing people accuse the Yankees of doing, they buy their players, plain and simple.
Thanks Jeff. Great work!!
Adding an “email this post” for mobile viewing would be great, adding an SMS option (like boston.com articles) would be great as well.
“Prospects such as pitchers Casey Kelly and Felix Doubront, among others, should empower Epstein in this summer’s trade market.”
This is one of the better lines.
I thought Kelly was supposed to be a part of their future. Yeah, Right? He’ll be spun first chance they have to get something actually valuable, like Adrian Gonzalez.
AND WHO IS FELIX Dou$*@$*??????????????????
Not even Peter Gammons mentioned that name.
Game post up
if it loads in faster i’m all for it.
please get rid of those horrific car ads at the top that make the screen dance down & then up when you go to a new page, PLEASE!
Moltisanti!
You should add a Reddit.com widget like it has digg ect.
Hey guys, sorry about the car ad. But we got to pay da’ bills!
Looks good to me. Definitely cleaner. Font size is fine. Just zoom in if too small. Facebook connect is cool too. Jeff, someone might’ve asked this already. Is the whole LoHud site going to be like this, or just the blogs?
Looks pretty amateur.
Do not like.
