The plan for Hughes

Posted by: Chad Jennings - Posted in Misc on Mar 31, 2010 Print This Post Print This Post | Email This Post Email This Post

Phil Hughes will make his first regular season start on April 15. Until then, he will make two extended spring starts in Florida. He will, however, break camp on the active roster.

Here’s the full plan for Hughes.

April 5: He will throw 90 to 100 pitches in extended spring training. Those games are played against other teams, just like a minor league spring training game. It’s not intrasquad. After the game, Hughes will fly to Boston to join the Yankees.

April 10: In the middle of the Yankees series against the Rays in St. Pete, Hughes will make another extended spring start in Tampa. He will likely be backed off to around 70 pitches, just like the other Yankees starters in their final spring training starts.

April 15: Hughes will make his regular season debut at home against the Angels. That’s the last game of that Anaheim series. He will be properly stretched out, ready to throw as many pitches as the other Yankees starters.

Why do it this way?
Girardi said this allows the Yankees to further control Hughes’ innings. The starts in extended spring training don’t count toward his innings limit, but they will keep him fresh. “There were times when he threw only 50 pitches (in spring training) when he other guys were throwing 70,” Girardi said. “We feel like this is good to get him up to where he needs to be.”

Why don’t the extended spring innings count?
Because they are in a controlled, low-stress environment. “You can manage a game,” Girardi said. “Let’s say he goes 25 pitches, you can stop the inning. You can do a lot of things that you can’t do in a real game.”

Why not option Hughes and carry an extra reliever?
There will be nights when Hughes is available as an emergency, extra-innings reliever. “There’s a situation that could arise where you might need him to make a spot start, or you get rained out and they want to play a double header,” Girardi said. If Hughes were optioned, the Yankees would have to wait 10 days before calling him up (unless someone got hurt).

UPDATE, 4:35 p.m.: Here’s the Girardi audio explaining the situation and why the Yankees made this decision.

Bummer. I’d have like to seen him get right into it in the 5th game of the year rather than skipping him. He looked today. Oh well….

sounds good… though I’m not sure why they don’t want Logan or an additional reliever to start.

Chad – Can you find out the Yankees’ thoughts and how they made their decision? Not that I’m criticizing, I’m just curiouis, as I’m sure others are.

  4. Boston Dave - XXVII March 31st, 2010 at 4:07 pm

    Frank,

though his inning limit isn’t too low, I guess it makes sense to avoid using him when possible so that they can be sure he can pitch right on through the entire season.

Phil Hughes will make his first regular season start on April 15.

If no one cared then there wouldn’t have been any soccer [sorry, Roger, futbol! How's Hong Kong?] talk in the first place, no?

The trip to Camp Nou is going to be Mission Impossible. :(

Probably because there are so many off days the first few weeks they would rather keep the veteran pitchers on regular rest than start Hughes

  9. Frank March 31st, 2010 at 4:11 pm

Probably right, BD. Guess I’m anxious to see him go. I’m sure I’ll survive til 4/15.

  11. rodg12 March 31st, 2010 at 4:13 pm

Like this move. No reason to use him until then. Keeps the big 4 on regular rest (sometimes extra) for their first two starts then gives each of them a bit longer rest for their 3rd.

Attached is the Yankees schedule. The 15th is the last game in a series with the Angels.

Saw some of the game against the Braves yesterday on TV and the last two innings of todays game. Gardner doesn’t look like he learned anything in the offseason. Still hitting too many soft fly balls or pop outs.

Interesting if the Yankees will find a bench player other than Garko, who is released in the next few days. Will Aceves be on the DL to start the season?

  20. Frank March 31st, 2010 at 4:19 pm

    “Arsenal are back down 2-1!!!!”

Gunners have struggled at home against the iron this season. Think ManYoo and Chelsea both won at Emirates.

  21. JJ March 31st, 2010 at 4:19 pm

SI makes their season predictions – 9 of 13 experts have the Yanks winning the WS.

Two have the Twins winning it, One has the Rays, One has the Mariners.

So which one had the Rays to win the WS? None of them even have them making the WS.

    http://sportsillustrated.cnn.c.....index.html

  22. Joe from Long Island March 31st, 2010 at 4:20 pm

Erica – yeah, there had been speculation of that. There had also been spec of their sticking with a 5-man rotation, to give CC, AJ, and Andy a relative break given the innings load from last year. Also, some raised the option of Phil being optioned until his first start, and another releiver (Logan?) being used.

Just curious as to their decision making.

So, you’re looking forward to April 15th. Going to celebrate?

  23. JJ March 31st, 2010 at 4:20 pm

*nevermind, one guy has the Rays winning the WS

  24. Jerkface March 31st, 2010 at 4:20 pm

Don’t you also consider that when a younger player has bounced around as much as Garko, it’s a sign that he isn’t well suited for a bench role.

He played for cleveland adequately and was then traded at the deadline/waiver line and not re-signed in the offseason. Lets not act like Garko was milton bradley’d around the league to a million different teams.

Career .790 OPS, who had a great first half with cleveland and didn’t play well for the giants.

Reposting this with more thoughts, Garko has been a starter his entire career. He hasn’t had a chance to play off the bench.

How many Zlatan is overrated, bad fit with Barca articles have been written this year?

And with one game all of those impressions and stories are going to be completely changed.

Suddnely Zlatan will be a player for the big stage, etc.

That was a huge draw for Arsenal this past week. They fought so hard to get back in the PL race, and then a 90th minute goal by the opposition to draw them. Devastating.

Weird turn of events. Barca looked like they’d be gain the away game.

Now it’s tied and they won’t have either Puyol or Pique for at Camp Nou.

Still can’t see Barca not advancing but this game has made it more interesting.

Fabergas not playing is a tough one.

  60. CR9 March 31st, 2010 at 4:34 pm

    What a cheat job.

    3 added minutes.

4 goals should be 30 seconds a goal, 2 minutes, plus 1 minute for the Cesc injury, plus some added time for the substitutions, plus at least 30 seconds for the amount of time for the PK to be taken.

    What a joke.

Chad’s post raises two questions in my mind.

First, can someone on the 25 man roster pitch in extended spring training? I’d have thought there would be a union rule on that.

Second, why April 15th and not April 17th? Pitching Hughes on the 15th means that CC and AJ will pitch on 6 days rest instead of their regular rest.

  67. NYYROC March 31st, 2010 at 4:35 pm

Chad, Thanks for the detailed Hughes plan! Interesting. You have done a great job covering ST and I look forward to your coverage throughout the season!

  68. Patrick March 31st, 2010 at 4:36 pm

    Nick,

    Thanks.

And I’d go with the under on SF Giants as well. Mainly because they have a poor offense. Their pitching is good but other than Sandoval they have a bad lineup. I might have taken the over if they had given the catching job to Buster Posey but they stuck with Molina for some bizarre reason.

  69. Betsy - Hughes rules (Pleading the Fifth) March 31st, 2010 at 4:36 pm

That’s fine, Rich. By mid-year, Phil will have found his best velocity and will hopefully have found some sort of groove; I wouldn’t want to completely stop on him.

  70. CR9 March 31st, 2010 at 4:36 pm

It’s going to be tough for Arsenal, but it’s certainly doable.

Without their best defender(s), and Arshavin had to leave this game early on, so he should be back.

Game Over! 2-2! Arsenal have a fighter’s chance. I love the away goals rule.

    SOMEONE PLEASE FILL ME IN!!

  78. Rich in NJ March 31st, 2010 at 4:40 pm

For all the issues about his velo, Joba does appear to be inducing more GBs.

  79. Nick in SF in Larkspur March 31st, 2010 at 4:40 pm

The Gigantes had a poor offense last year too and squeezed out 88 wins. And they brought back Molina because they don’t think Posey is ready to be a major league catcher yet and Molina was available for a one-year deal. If they didn’t think they could compete for the NL West, maybe it would’ve been a different story.

  80. Chris Nightingale March 31st, 2010 at 4:41 pm

Are things that good that people have to complain about Phil not starting till April 15th. What would you rather have, him get a late start, or weeks between starts and 4 inning starts in late August or September.

  81. igotid88 March 31st, 2010 at 4:41 pm

good game by Hughes today. not great. But he was pitching differently. I’m gonna go on and predict a no hitter. Yea you read me.

  82. Nick in SF in Larkspur March 31st, 2010 at 4:41 pm

Jose: Joba was distracted today ‘cos he was thinking about the soccer game the guys were watching in the clubhouse, so his velocity isn’t even an issue.

  83. Betsy - Hughes rules (Pleading the Fifth) March 31st, 2010 at 4:42 pm

Maybe the soccer talk could stay in the prior thread?

  84. Chad Jennings March 31st, 2010 at 4:43 pm

Anyone can pitch in extended spring training games. There are no rules in those things, only vague suggestions. If a team wanted to play with five outfielders in an extended spring or minor league spring training game, it would probably be allowed.

As for why the 15th instead of the 16th, I imagine the Yankees actually like the idea of giving their starters a little extra rest.

  85. Nick in SF in Larkspur March 31st, 2010 at 4:43 pm

Sorry, Betsy, you can’t stop progress.

  86. Wave Your Hat March 31st, 2010 at 4:44 pm

Patrick, I guess that’s it by I thought CC and AJ always liked to pitch in their regular rest pattern.

  87. Patrick March 31st, 2010 at 4:45 pm

Yeah lets get rid of the soccer talk so we can continue this new and fresh debate of “WHAT’S WRONG WITH JOBA!?!”

I know nothing about soccer and I don’t recognize a single name associated with it that has been posted in this thread. Heck I don’t even understand the answer CR9 gave me (what’s the championship league? apparently the title game gets as many viewers as the super bowl?). But it’s still more interesting reading about it than the usual nonsense that’s been on here for the last few months.

  88. CB March 31st, 2010 at 4:46 pm

    Nick,

I don’t have a good feeling on the Giants at 81.5. Quite honestly it’s a coin flip kind of thing because I think they are going to finish right around there.

There’s little chance of being able to really tease out the over and under on a team like that at that number.

I think they over performed last year and they are a very narrowly constructed team in that they are very unidimensional and thin. That’s the kind of team where one injury is going to cause them to fall into a tailspin.

I’m also concerned that Sandoval may take a step back this year.

And on top of that Sabean seems determined to ruin Buster Posely’s career so it’s not like the guy who is already likely at least third best offensive player in the organization is going to help.

Didn’t like what I saw out of Bumgarner at all last year or this spring so their pitching depth is also suspect.

But like I said I’m can’t draw a hard stake in the ground on that one.

I was a bit surprised to see the over so low on them given that they won 88 last season.

Those lines Pat M. wanted to play on the over/ under were not promising, IMO.

I compared all of the teams to the best available statistical projections – the lines from the house matched up very, very well.

  89. Wave Your Hat March 31st, 2010 at 4:46 pm

Thanks, Chad. I really appreciate the way you respond to people in the comment threads, it’s a very considerate thing to do.

  90. kloth&jeet March 31st, 2010 at 4:48 pm

Jose: Didn’t see the speed on any of his pitches but Joba threw a quick inning. Two ground outs and a fly ball.

  91. CU Tiger March 31st, 2010 at 4:48 pm

    Jose-

Joba’s velocity was not good ESPN clocked his “fastball” no higher than 92 and as low as 88. Now I am actually starting to wonder what’s up with him- maybe he’s not going to be able to work through this in the ‘pen.

Girardi has talked about trying to give CC, Andy, and AJ extra rest, especially early in the season, because of their heavy workloads last year.

Wave, seconded. Chad, thank you for all of your hard work and for responding to our questions; we really appreciate it.

    LOL Nick…

CB, how is Sabean ruining Buster Posey’s career? He’s the 2nd best C prospect after Montero, right?

I’m all for giving AJ, Andy and CC extra rest. While Phil is down there, who will be hovering over him? I guess Scott Aldred?

  96. SJ44 March 31st, 2010 at 4:51 pm

Concentrate less on the radar gun and more on the effectiveness of his pitches.

Especially since the TV guns aren’t always accurate.

His job is to get outs. Not to light up a radar gun in March.

Yeah, can we have a seperate comb Soccer/Joba-Hughes verbal diarrhea thread?

  98. Nick in SF in Larkspur March 31st, 2010 at 4:55 pm

Thanks CB. I guess I’m more optimistic on the Gigantes because I will be watching/listening to so many of their games, I’d rather root for than against. I have high hopes for Matt Cain and, dare I say, Jonathan Sanchez. And even Barry Zito???? Maybe the Panda regresses, maybe not. I think the competition has regressed too! Doesn’t make for good analysis, but I’ll take the over.

Patrick, the Champions League is a tourament with the previous season’s top teams from the various European countries’ own leagues. So it starts with 32 teams that include a few from the English Premier League, the Italian Serie A league, the Spanish La Liga, and others from the French league, the Russian league, the Scottish league, the Portugese league, etc.

The format is 8 groups of 4 teams each and they all play each other home and away; 2 teams from each group advance then the teams are paired up in a home-and-away series, with the aggregate score over both games settling which team advances (away goals is the tie-breaker).

  99. SJ44 March 31st, 2010 at 4:55 pm

    Betsy,

Posey is a better prospect than Montero. He’s an elite hitter and defender.

Sabean has talked about moving him to first or third base (he began as a 3B at Florida State) and keep Bengie Molina as the primary catcher for another year.

It’s a move that puzzles many people, myself included.

  100. CB March 31st, 2010 at 4:55 pm

    Patrick,

The panda can flat out rake – but he was truly phenomenal last year at the plate and there’s not a lot of space for him to feasibly be better.

It’s a real question on whether he is truly a .950 ops/ .400 wOBA player. That’s what he was last year.

    Can he do that again?

If not, that offense is going to struggle – it was so dependent on him.

If he’s only good rather than great that’s a big loss for them.

I think he’s going to wind up getting walked more often. Great for his OBP but who is going to drive him in? Why would you ever let him beat you?

  101. Frank March 31st, 2010 at 4:55 pm

“CB, how is Sabean ruining Buster Posey’s career? He’s the 2nd best C prospect after Montero, right?”

Some have the Tribe’s Carlos Santana ahead of Posey.

  102. Patrick March 31st, 2010 at 4:56 pm

“CB, how is Sabean ruining Buster Posey’s career? He’s the 2nd best C prospect after Montero, right? ”

Oh man this is a pretty loaded question.

Sabean is holding Posey back for some reason. And signing Molina was a pretty bizarre move.

Montero isn’t necessarily the #1 catching prospect. Carlos Santana, Montero, Posey could all be 1, 2 or 3. Depends who you talk to.

From a Jim Callis chat (one of these is just for Betsy!)

    AL (Tampa FL)

Hi Jim,Do you think Joba should remain in the bullpen going forward? Also, are you still high on Hughes or has he regressed in becoming a # 2 or at worst #3 (based on prior projections) major league starter?

    Jim Callis

I’d keep Chamberlain in the bullpen because I think he’s best suited for that role and more likely to stay healthy there. Also, can help the current Yankees more out of the pen. I’m still high on Hughes and expect him to live up to his past acclaim. He’s been very good when healthy.

    WhoDat D’Arbanville (Royal Street, Quarter)
I wonder if you can possibly identify ANYWHERE that the damn Yankees can play Jesus Montero when he’s ready….?

    Jim Callis
Catcher. I think he breaks into the big leagues sharing catcher and DH with Jorge Posada

Sabean is just so bizarre. Really can’t figure him or McGowan out.

  109. Betsy - Hughes rules (Pleading the Fifth) March 31st, 2010 at 5:03 pm

SJ, wow. I don’t get that, unless they aren’t sure about his game-calling skills? That doesn’t sound like the case to me, so wouldn’t it be best to get Posey accustomed to his pitchers now, so he’ll be even better in 2011?

Sabean’s had an odd career. He was very highly thought of in the Yankees system. He goes to San Fran, gets off to a good start, then makes that Liriano trade and everything falls apart for him. However, the guy has drafted Lincecum, Cain and Posey, so I suppose he’s doing alright for himself again.

  113. Patrick March 31st, 2010 at 5:05 pm

    CB,

Great points about Sandoval. I still like him as a player, he’s a ton of fun to watch. I’ll keep my high hopes intact.

You know, a lot of people look at Justin Upton’s season last year and say how great he was as only a 21 year old. For those that don’t know, he put up the following numbers: .300/.366/.532 (.899 OPS), 26 HR, 86 RBI and again, he was only 21 years old.

But look at what Sandoval did as only a 22 year old! .330/.387/.556 (.943 OPS), 25 HR, 90 RBI

Many expect Upton to build on his success from last year because he’s so young but I think a lot of people overlook Sandoval. I think they are both going to end up being elite hitters.

  118. CB March 31st, 2010 at 5:07 pm

It’s somewhat ironic what’s happened to Posey’s career. I’d guess he feels like he’s stuck in some kind of purgatory.

How can Sabean actually even contemplate taking a guy with those receiving skills, arm and bat off that spot? It really defies any logic. And for what? Bengie Molina? A bizarre love affair with mediocre players because of their “veteraness?”

When Posey and his agents found out he wasn’t going to go #1 in the draft they did everything they could to get him to fall to a team that would pay him as the highest paid player in the draft.

I still remember those rumors of posey trying to fall to the yanks…

And they accomplished that mission by getting him to the giants. He got more than Tim Beckam the #1 pick.

But that short term gain is turning into a financial disaster for Posey. One that long term will cost him far, far more money than he made by falling to the Giants just due to the service time he’s not accruing.

Remarkable example of how short term draft machinations often have bad long term consequences for a player.

Word from the Giants is that Posey can’t catch hard fastballs. Whats up with that?

  130. Nick in SF in Larkspur March 31st, 2010 at 5:17 pm

Patrick, I have more to say about soccer.

Today’s match was between Arsnel and Barcelona; it was played in London and the result was 2-2. They will play the second leg in Barcelona in two weeks; the score will read 0-0 when that match starts but the real score, which is the aggregate score, will be 2-2 and Barcelona will have the tie-breaking advantage because they have two away goals.

So if the final score of the match in two weeks is 0-0 or 1-1, which would mean an aggregate tie, Barca would win on the away goals tie-breaker. Arsenal would have to score two goals in Barcelona to negate that advantage and three goals to have the away goals tie-breaker work to their advantage.

I hope that all makes sense.

And for the record, I had nothing at all to do with this. The design is all the work of Jeff Marx and the fine folks back in the office. There’s some new stuff up at the top as well, and a link to the daily photo galleries on the right. Hope everyone likes it.

  139. CB March 31st, 2010 at 5:21 pm

The new design looks very good. The font is nice to look at. Glad to see the comments still alternate shades.

It would make it easier to read if some of the features from the mobile site were incorporated.

The grey in the background of alternating comments could be a little darker. That’ll set off the comments more and make them easeir to read.

Also, some note of color would be good – even if it’s only the date. The blue date on the mobile site helps distinguish each comment individually. It’s an good marker/ anchor to scroll through comments.

Regarding Hughes and the decision made-I think the Yankees looked at every single option and decided that having him “unavailable” for a minimum of 10 days did not do the Yankees any good.
if and when we need him to pitch for whatever reason, he can’t do that if the rules won’t allow it.
very good decision by the team. when it comes to the opening week of the MLB season, the weather can really cause chaos to the schedule(rain delays, postponed games, double-headers), etc…

I hope this new format come with an AUTO-correct spelling and grammer for the likes of myself and my buddy GB. Just press submit and watch the scrabble game take effect.

Girardi or Cashman will never make that innings count known publicly. They did the same thing with Joba last season.

People can speculate but there will not be any official announcement on that matter at all this season.

I like when Michael tells the office they are getting a surprise and in the end of the day he’s stuck grasping for an idea while they walk away. The World Cup always has less scoring, because the players dont play together all the time, only in qualifying and friendlies.

I look forward to the WC more than any other football as well, but referees take over in those games and decide games.

Also, it doesn’t need scoring to be entertaining.

Football is fine the way it is. Getting rid offsides would ruin the game, hence it will never happen. Don’t know about widening the nets.

i didnt go to any games last season and i probably won’t again. the prices are ridiculous, i went to 2 mets-phillies games (one in NY and one in philly) andeach cost less than what the parking at NYS costs. its not that i cant afford it, its that i can’t justify it. if i donate a hundred bucks to the food bank and spend another hundred on a present for my gf, then stay home and watch the game i get alot more satisfaction for my dollars.

Regarding the Giants thinking about Posey…

I feel that this is actually the right move for the team.

The Gints don’t feel that Posey is ready to be the everyday, catch 130-140 games catcher so the re signed Molina who knows and works exceptional with that staff for 1 yr to bring him along.

Posey will most likely catch 60+ games and play around the diamond 1b,SS,3b,OF to keep his bat in the lineup as they feel that he is currently their 2nd best offensive player behind Kung Fu Panda.

I applaud them if they do this as it addresses all 3 areas of concern for the team without the overriding decision being driven by $$$.

The Gints with their pitching could win that division and make the playoffs with an improved offense.

Posey is certainly ready to hit as he’s shown this spring training.

He can be taught at the ML level by Bochy and Molina the finer points of catching and get ML game experience as well as a comfort level with the staff while at the same time upgrading their offense in a major way.

Posey is very athletic and was used this way at FL state hell he was even the closer for awhile so he can do it.

The other players know that the org is committed to winning and willing to achieve it by thinking out of the box.

    Kudos

    Erin,
Yes thats who i was talking about. Please dont quiz me tomorrow on those names.

    CR9,
The reason why i hate the low scoring and want the game to be opened up is
    1. more exciting
    2. If your down 1 nil, the other team cant just sit back, play defense and kill the time. You wouldnt have to turn off the tv set after being down in the second half.
I like scoring and thats the reason im a BRAZIL fan.

*** Girardi disclosed after the game that Francisco Cervelli underwent an MRI today because of a hamstring issue that cropped up Tuesday, though one that isn’t thought to be serious.

“He called it a little pinch, but it didn’t bother him,” Girardi said. “So we just decided, let’s go get an MRI just to make sure.”

Girardi did not have the results of the MRI but said he’ll hold Cervelli, who took batting practice yesterday and will catch in the bullpen today, out until Saturday.

“If the MRI tells us something different than he’s feeling, and he feels pretty good, then you might have to make an adjustment,” Girardi said

SI has the Yanks finishing first with a 100-62 record. Followed by the Rays at 95 wins and missing the playoffs Sox at 93.

I agree with all of it accept we will end up with 118 regular season wins.

Here’s a little more info on Cisco-it doesn’t sound too bad

Yankees manager Joe Girardi said Cervelli reported feeling “a little pinch” in his hamstring during a game on Tuesday. The Yankees have since limited Cervelli’s activities. He took batting practice today and will catch on the side on Thursday. The Yankees are still concerned about Cervelli running the bases.

“His strength is great,” Girardi said. “There’s no swelling in it (the hamstring). But we said let’s just be safe instead of sorry.”

I’m old and my eyes are the same age/ Thaht’s my way of saying the font size has to be increased. When something is hard to read, either because of poor use of color or font types or size, readers go elsewhere. And that’s not what you want.

I thought I was the only one having anxiety attacks about TV and baseball! I feel so much better! I have no idea what I’m going to do. I’m trying to figure out a game plan.

    nick,

So who do you think Jacob and Locke (black smoke) really are? Jacob and Éssau’, Lucifer and Micheal, angel and demon, tom and Jerry, he-man and skeletor or other ?

    Nick,
Im glad Steve Lavine took the St. Johns gig. I couldnt stand listening to him continually talk about himself and UCLA when someone was asking him about a game thats on or about to come on. It got old after the first minute. Youd think he was John Wooden. I wonder if hes going to sport the Riley 20/50 motor oil due again?

Absolutely! TV junkie annonymous is always pleased to welcome new members. :)

I have Friday off, so I’m thinking I’ll devote a part of the day trying to figure out my TV vs. baseball problem. Is that pathetic? lol

Amazing……Why do Yankee players refuse to give home town discounts, but Sox players do? It’s annoying as heck.

blake: that question is above my pay grade, but I suspect they won’t end up being some exact duo from the bible or literature or legend; maybe a composite?

I’m kind of partial to Heckle & Jeckle, though.

    From MLB-

After checking on his mother, Span completed his at-bat, looking at a called strike three from Hughes. He planned to exit the game at that point, but when the Twins extended the inning, it gave Span time to check in with family members and hear that Wilson was doing fine. So he opted to join his teammates on the field in the bottom of the first.

Span remained in the game for another two innings, at which point Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter pulled him aside and encouraged him to be with his mother.

“He was just like, ‘You go see about your mom,’” Span said. “I was already feeling that way, but to have him say it to me, I was like, ‘You know what? He’s right.’

Erica– I have a few shows I like but my schedule really doesn’t let me watch much of anything live. (except baseball, iPhone is the greatest thing EVER) There are several ways to watch shows online and I usually catch up when I have time. When I get home Hulu.com will be catching me up on LOST.

I watch nothing live since DVR came into my life.

And its funny cause my father doesn’t get the concept and he will call me sometimes and be like, “Did you see that?”. But he just doesn’t understand that I don’t ever start watching The Office until 9:08 exactly!

    Erin,
Not as pathetic as using Fridays to record all the new movies that are coming out on cable Saturday. Searching ON-DEMAND and all the channels just to make sure i dont miss anything. Hand raised again. When you think you bad. Just think. There is always someone worse out there.

    Blake,
A couple years back i bought the Voltrons dvd’s Lions edition. I wanted my little ones to see what a real cartoon was about. They watched a couple and its collecting dust. That Thundercats and the little rascals. I think Voltron would rake in as much as Transformers did.

  418. blake March 31st, 2010 at 8:29 pm

    SOS,
Cartoons are just awful these days. I agree on Voltron..if they made a movie and made it right like they did transformers it would make a fortune

  419. Pat M. March 31st, 2010 at 8:30 pm

Betsy, I’m pretty friendly with one of the Angels advance scout who will be returning from Florida before the weekend….I’ll be seeing him and a few other guys Saturday when we have our baseball draft….It’ll be of great interest on what he has to say not only about the Yanks, but Young Master Hughes as well……Just dismiss what Rotoworld or some of the other wannabes that throw crap against the wall and hope it sticks…..Trust what you see, you’ll be surprised how much you really know….
