Can the manager still catch?
Jorge Posada woke up with a stiff neck and can’t play today. P.J. Pilittere will get the start.
Mitch Abeita is here from the minor league complex, but the Yankees might have an extra catcher drive over just in case.
Doesn’t sound like a serious issue for Posada. Sounds like he just slept on it wrong.
UPDATE, 12:29 p.m.: Brandon Laird has also been scratched. Sore elbow.

I would love to see him try

LOL
Me too
please get some pics of this ASAP
Would Joe Girardi be allowed to catch if he wanted to?
Didn’t this happen last yr with Jorge too? I think it was during the season.
My first inclination was to worry, but then I remembered that Jorge occasionally gets stiff necks; I’m sure he had a couple during the season last year.
I actually think Joe probably could catch for a few innings; he does keep himself in great shape.
Blake, I appreciate the explanation. I guess Phil seems fine with it. If he couldn’t throw them both at the same time, we probably would have heard about it by now. Now if I am walking down the street and someone asks me about this, I can give them an answer, lol.
Girardi is still in awesome shape.
I have no doubt he could do it if it weren’t against the rules
Betsy,
Actually the clockwise/counterclockwise is opposite of what I said before..I confused myself there for a second.
Giradi could definitly pull it off
Dang was hoping to see Jorge today esp since ARod and Jete not coming. Oh well its still Yankee baseball and I am goin to the game… in fact leaving pretty soon.
Blake, so the change is counterclockwise and the cutter clockwise? We’re just talking a slight moving of the wrist, correct, not something that would cause a wrist injury?
The cutter and change are both thrown with the ball gripped slightly off center. That plus finger pressure gets the ball to spin the way they want. Not much wrist action, unlike a curve.
Betsy, right. With the cutter its more about just getting more pressure on the outside of the ball so as to create clockwise spin. The circle depends on who is throwing it I guess. I used to actually try to turn my wrist over when I threw it to try to get more movement. The important thing is to keep that circle on the inside of the ball..shouldn’t hurt your arm if thrown correctly.
HEY LOOK!!!
New gray blog is back!
So Pat Venditte is def. the number 1 trending topic on Yahoo right now
We’re back to the future again
NYYROC and Blake, thank you! Sheesh, I could never be a pitcher even if I had a great arm – way too many complications.
wow, did anyone else’s blog view just change?
I like the new blog design. It loaded much faster and just looks cleaner.
When is the last time Giradi caught Mo? Whats the difference between Mo now and Mo in 1996? Chad can we find out?
Erica,
Do you have any suggestions for how to find a good local accountant (in Texas)?
Thanks so much.

It’s taking a long time to post the comments….
Really, CC? My comments don’t post. I have to exit out and get back in to see that they posted – this is really, really, really slow.

Nice!
is the manager allowed to play?
Just clicked on stats. There’s the minor league stats people were asking about. Linked to USAToday.
If you’re looking for feedback, the only thing is the font’s a lot smaller.
Thanks for working round-the-clock, Jeff.
is it just me or the new blog format/layout/platform doesnt work on Firefox? it’s all messed up and I can only view it in IE…
It does seem to refresh very quickly. Betsy, I think the reason it was so slow is that you were caught in the change over.
Well, this is different.
it works in firefox.
some people just refuse to handle or accept change
And I’d bring back the obnoxious headshots of Chad. It seems much less personal.

Looks/works the same in both Firefox and IE for me…
Bring up Montero!
Perhaps so, Dave. It refreshes quickly for me, but the posting is not working so great.

Sadly no. I would talk to your family and friends. Word of mouth and recommendations are very important.
Don’t be tricked into promises of rapid refunds either by big tax prep companies. The only true way to get a quick refund is to e-file and wait about two weeks. Anything else is just a high interest loan.
I don’t know if Girardi could still catch or not but he certainly looks like he could.
I am pretty sure that we aren’t supposed to be bolding ourselves.
I remember that it slows down & breaks the blog when too many people do it
Betsy,
Sorry, tried again and you are right, it loads very quickly but posts slowly.
the more I read about Slade Heathcott, the more I wonder how guys like Casey Kelly and specifically Ryan Westmoreland (prior to his health issues) were top 25 overall prospects and Slade wasn’t on any top 100 lists.
prospect lists are almost never too accurate after the top handful of guys, but I’d put my money on Heathcott being more successful than either of those 2 (though I do think Kelly will reach the majors and get a chance)
It’s nice to see a legit OF prospect in the Yanks ranks even after AJax is gone.
ETA 2013?
it seems to refresh faster for me, and so far its not freezing up on me like it was last week.
if you use ctrl and scroll w/ your mouse, you can make the font bigger.
This site keeps on changing it’s format….
No need to apologize Dave – clearly the bugs have yet to be completely worked out.
Thanks Erica.

That was a great suggestion on how to get a larger screen view. Thanks.
The gray is just not a good look, lol – but to be fair, Jeff said they’d get to that stuff after the major kinks are worked out.
My post went through quickly. No problems.
That doesn’t work for me at all, but the font is fine now because I changed it on my computer.
The posting seems to be fine now ………
I wonder if Joba throws today if he would get to pitch to Abeita? Mitch was Chamberlain’s catcher at Nebraska.
Girardi was asked in an interview if he could still catch a game and he said no.
Will this format allow us to send PMs to each other? Sometimes I would like to take a discussion/debate off the blog.
Catcher could be a concern, obviously with Cervelli struggling to stay healthy as well as Jorge turning 39 in August.
the grey needs to be changed to yankee colors and the poster name font should be bigger then the comment.
test check
pretty fast here on firefox.
Too bad Montero didn’t get a shot. I would have liked to see him again.
Blake-
“Bring up Montero! ”
How did I know you were gonna say that !
Bring up ole 20 stone, 3.8 cubit, thor thunderbat.
OK by me.
What’s with the rash of injuries/owies?
MTU,
What can I say, I’m attracted to bright shiny objects.
Blake-

Vassar graduates with nice tans ?
Or
UFO’s
Which is it ?
MTU
Both
Blake-
Are here I thought you were the shy, retiring dentist type.
My mistake.
Chad/Jeff,
Love the tabs at the top. The link to your print stuff is much more visible now. The schedule will be a godsend. And the stats will provide the snapshot analysis that we crave.
Tetsing 1,2,3
“That doesn’t work for me at all, but the font is fine now because I changed it on my computer.”
You’re welcome…
I thanked you yesterday, Stuckey……
Chad/Jeff ….
Blog is looking good ….
I can’t wait for Sunday night …Yankee Baseball !!!! My family is having Easter Dinner early so that everyone can get home in time for the game. Thank goodness we are all Yankee fans ..
Happy Holidays to all …
Go Yankees 2010 !!!!
bring back JG!!!
Test
Hughes
I agree; the tabs at the top are great.
Here’s the biggest shocker of the season so far:
Gammons, now with MLB.com, predicts the Red Sox will win the World Series this season!
That is shocking.
And, since you asked
, your main threads need some kind of formatting. The paragraphs all kind of run together.
Test again
No game post up makes me think we’re going back to the old format again in a few minutes
macky sasser available?
I think so too, Pat, lol….
pat,
lol. It’s like Timeline. Will everyone make it back intact?
Totally blacked out today. But the Twins and Sox are on ESPN if anyone’s interested.
Now Brandon Laird is hurt? I hope he’ll be ok…….LOL I know this was posted earlier, but I just saw it now. I hope this is not a bad sign…….and I’m not superstitious; I just feel uncomfortable seeing all these injuries.
A suggestion. The first comment should be in grey. It is very easy to skip over it.
Ortiz scratched with a stiff neck. Did Jorge and Papi go to a tennis match together last night?
Nothing is shocking when it comes to Gammons and his unabashed love affair with the Sox. He probably thinks they will win 130 total games.
At the park. Sittin on 3rd base side abt 20feet upline. Oh Canada and Star Spangled just sung. The sky very blue grass so green. Just ate a dog getting my program ready. Los of Yankee caps. But lots of Canadians here too they love their jays.

Again, nice new look but I think the font needs a slight increase and the names of posters need to be bolded.
I know it’s a work in progress, I’m looking forward to more blog improvements
G-man doubled. Line shot. This format not very mobile friendly. Molina lookin in shape. NJ shot G scores.
This redesign is kind of a p.o.s.
It looks better than the old one, but at least the old one worked right.
There are no links for the game.
Actually I take that back about it looking better.
Game post up.
