Hey everybody,

Jeff the tech guy here. I hope you guys like the new templates. I know that some of you are not seeing the right version. Yesterday I was switching the templates back and forth as I was trying to hunt down a problem on the server. In that process I think some jacked up versions of the blog got stuck in people’s browsers. I’m getting that complaint from a lot of chrome and safari users. If the blog looks messed up, you need to clear your browser’s cache or history.

For Chrome:
http://www.google.com/support/chrome/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=95537
Follow those instructions and delete yesterday’s and today’s history. Restart your browser and come back here.

For Safari:
Just click on the ‘safari’ menu item in the upper left hand corner of your screen, and select the ‘empty cache’ option. Restart your browser and come back here.

For Firefox:
Select Tools >> Clear Recent History >> Select ‘Everything’ for your time range. >>Make sure only cache is selected (unless you want to clear your cookies or anything else.)
>>Select ‘Clear Now’
Restart your browser and come back here.

For IE:
6: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/ie6/using/howto/customizing/clearcache.mspx
7,8: http://www.viscott.com/esupport/index.php?_m=knowledgebase&_a=viewarticle&kbarticleid=51
Restart your browser and come back here.

Thanks again everybody for your patience.

I can totally start a Sesame Street conversation if necessary. Nobody can be angry discussing the Street.

I can assist you in such matter!

I knew you would! Sesame Street Mafia always sticks together

I?m thinking most underrated character. I?m torn between Guy Smiley and Don Music

    Wrong!!!!

    That would be Sherlock Hemlock!

This is a serious question. Does the bad version or the good version have that cheap and ugly title bar, this lame font, and the content buttons from 1996?

Nice job on the new look. From one Web Designer to another, I suggest making the “Follow” icons a tad smaller. Those are really big, and I mean really big to the point that they’re a bit distracting. The other thing that could use a bit more pop is the nav bar in the header. Since they’re the same color as the main BG, it sorta flows together and not as noticable. I know you’re going for the clean look, but it doesn’t feel right to me. Everything else though I really like, nice code and very clean (besides those 2 things).

Or the sadly under-appreciated Slimey the worm.

YankeesPR OF Jon Weber wins 2010 Dawson Award for best rookie in NYY spring camp. Is first non-roster invitee to win since Eric Duncan in 2006.

I really like the new style. It looks much more professional and sleek. I have been using it on Chrome just fine. Thanks!

just sing “F*** The Sox” during the “Oh Oh Oh” part. Works like a charm.

  13. MFC April 2nd, 2010 at 1:02 pm

Is there anyway to make the text larger. Its really small and Im not old

  14. MFC April 2nd, 2010 at 1:06 pm

Also your link brings you to Non-Sequential Order Numbers not cache clearing, you need to include the 1 at the end.

Hurray! Looking great on Chrome! Faster too!

Jeff, the new format sucks. What was wrong with the old one that made you think it needed to be changed? It looked fine. If it’s not broken, don’t fix it.

Jeff – Any update to the blackberry browser? I cleared the cache, and it still only gives me a blank white page…Can you please check it out when you get a chance…Thanks.

  20. Frank from Chatham NJ April 2nd, 2010 at 1:57 pm

VERY clean looking! So easy on the eyes and it comes with a VERY pro look.

I know from personal experience how difficult it is for an IT guy to satisfy a throng of opin_ers. Did it more than a few decades so it’s nice to watch from the sidelines now to a neat success story. My stomach is not in MY throat anymore!

    Kudos, Jeff.

  21. Debbie April 2nd, 2010 at 3:00 pm

Jeff, Can you put the time stamp back on posts. Sometimes if I am in a hurry I check the site to see if anyhting new has been posted and the first thing I look for is the time a story was posted. That and seeing the time leaves me in awe of Chad’s dedication to posting day and night.

  22. Jack Cross April 2nd, 2010 at 3:14 pm

The Follow buttons are way too big. Cut them by 2/3s

  23. Slu April 2nd, 2010 at 4:10 pm

Non-threaded comments still suck. I rarely, if ever, read the comments because there is just way too much off topic nonsense in every thread. I haven’t posted a comment since the Jeff’s last post. I know nobody will read this or care, but I am posting it anyway.

  24. Eric44 April 2nd, 2010 at 4:47 pm

Is anyone else having trouble getting the blog to load on their blackberry… it shows it loads but all i get its a blank page.

  25. nyydj2 April 2nd, 2010 at 4:56 pm

I am not really really old, lol, but I do remember Celerino Sanchez playing 3rd. So just a little old. The font is definitely way too small, please kick it up a notch, it is annoying and difficult to read and I love this site. Much appreciated.

  26. Bill April 2nd, 2010 at 5:28 pm

I am a little bit old and would appreciate a larger font.

  27. Chuck58 April 2nd, 2010 at 5:47 pm

    slu, we DO read….
threaded comments are just too hard to follow, jumping back and forth [for me, anyway].
I prefer chronological. Stream of consciousness and all…

  28. Chuck58 April 2nd, 2010 at 5:50 pm

Bill, increase your browser past 100% and the type size will increase.
So will everything else, of course…..
if you are using Internet Explorer, look in the lower right hand corner
for the magnifying glass. Click it, and choose your desired level of
magnification. You can also make things smaller [good for jamming even more
    content into the screen! hahaha]

  29. stanzy April 2nd, 2010 at 11:56 pm

Can’t say I’m loving the new look, though the old one was definitely due for an update. What happened to the pics of the guys at the beginning of the posts? That was a nice touch that made the blog feel a lot more personal/conversational.

    Couple of other nitpicks:
    - the off-center banner ad at the top of the page is unsettling
    - the small-black-font-on-big-white-field is kind of hard on the eyes
    - the new comment format de-emphasizing the commenter name kind of takes away from the personality

Maybe it’ll just take some getting used to. But I feel like you guys are making a mistake in not carrying over some of the “character” of the old look. Doing so (by preserving fonts, or colors, or certain layout elements, or whatever) helps to limit the shock to people who’ve enjoyed using the site for so long now.

  30. jbats April 3rd, 2010 at 10:42 am

this really isnt working on my blackberry. i cannot click on certain links and then it alllows me to.

it is off center and smaller then the past.

is this going to be fixed?

  31. infernoscurse April 3rd, 2010 at 12:39 pm

not liking the gray background and small title bar, it could have been a lot better, kinda looks old fashion
