Park shutdown with hamstring injury
Chan Ho Park was getting loose in the bullpen tonight when he felt something in his right hamstring. He stopped throwing and saw the team doctor, who will reevaluate Park tomorrow before determining whether an MRI is necessary.
“A hamstring problem last year almost ended the season for me,” Park said. “But this is a different spot.”

Good thing Park put himself in park before he really injured himself.
Awesome! I have Chan Ho Park’s hamstring on my fantasy team!!!
Sorry, but got to ask.
Did he strain himself sitting on the toilet?
It doesn’t put a damper on the evening for me, but it’s not great news.
GB, good point about Phil not needing to throw the change as much as some would like.
Is he sure is wasn’t just diarhhea?
@KenDavidoff – Hughes, on the big ovation for Matsui’s homer: “As they should. He’s done a lot for this team.” #Angels-#Yankees
Ledger_Yankees Hughes threw 5 changeups. Intends to throw more going forward. #NYY
Trisha-
Not sure if you saw this but Ryan Zimmerman apparently tweaked his hammy too. He is questionable for Friday
aww, nice comment from Phil on Matsui.
Good to hear Phil will incorporate the change more; whatever he did tonight worked, so it’s not important in the scheme of things that he didn’t throw 30 changeups.
Here’s to hoping that the CC-Cervelli magic continues Friday.
Troublemaker.
Nick, Mel, Pat, and Betsy – think I got you all, you know how I am when it comes to reading posts! Thank you for the tips. It’s exactly what I will do, noting time of posts and reading from top down.
Erica, that’s why I sat him for the week. They used him as a pinch hitter today and the sweetheart him a homer, but of course other than happiness for the Nats, that didn’t gaine me anything.
Betsy, I’ll guarantee that he threw more than four tonight. As he progresses this year, he’ll get more comfortable using it and as he adds innings to his starts, he’ll work it in. really, he on;y made the one mistake to Matsui. He got almost zero of the calls in the low part of the strike zone and that cost him maybe 15 pitches and at least 3 strikeouts that ended up as walks. First start….nothing to complain about from anybody, though a few will.
Park says he felt hamstring tighten as he was wrapping up his throws. Already saw doc. Getting follow up on Friday. #NYY

Park it for a few days Chan Ho.
GB, I guess -Phil establishes himself he’ll get those calls, but boy – it stinks that there isn’t just one standard. Instead, the umps just call what they feel like.
Suzyn called him “Chopper”. Lame.
Be glad it wasn’t Joe Worst, or the other dork.
With Texas coming in, I’m guessing this one sends Park to the DL. Silly to agrevate it and they’ll need the extra pitcher. Either Melancon or Hirsh, I’d think.
At least he isn’t stupid about it like some players. Some people would go into the game and get lit up then say something.
Phil looked very good.
The high pitch count and walk totals were a factor of the pint-sized strike zone employed tonight.
Good for Hughes taking the high road there.
Are we classy again? I guess Matsui really helps us out in the class department.
I’m going tomorrow. Texas. No former Yankees to cheer. I’m a little worried about being typecast if Mitre comes in and doesn’t get a standing ovation.
Silly to ***aggravate***
For you Minor league fans.
Bleich and Warren both reasonably good tonite.
Let’s hope for a Melancon call up…but I get the feeling Girardi doesn’t like him for some reason….
Was any one else a little puzzled as to why Girardi had Hughes face Matsui in the 6th, and why he wanted Phil to throw that many pitches in his first start ?
KenDavidoff Hughes said he didn’t use the changeup much because the #Yankees’ scouting report said most of the #Angels’ LH hitters could hit it.
Thanks, Pat! Well, that explains that – Davidoff can rewrite his article now, lol.
Nick in SF……In & Out ….I think he actually worked there while in HS
Pat M.-
“In & Out ….I think he actually worked there while in HS”
He still does but now he’s added Up and Down as well.
A little off topic:
Some people have been knocking the S*x offense. Here’s some stats on that. Normally the S*x are one of the best OBP teams in baseball, right? So far this season the are 6th in the AL. The are also 6th in Avg. and are 10th in walks. I know it’s still early, but if those trends continue I’ll guarantee they don’t make the playoffs. That’s a team built around getting on base and driving up pitch counts.
I think Phil also worked at Baskin Robbins – kid has good taste.
Montero had a rough night for Scranton who got blown away. It wasn’t even as close as the 14-6 score says. Montero was 0-5 with an RBI and 2 strikeouts. Huffman was 3-4 with 2 doubles and an RBI. Russo and Curtis were both 1-4. Curtis with an RBI and 2 runs scored, Russo scored one.
MTU, that’s bad…….I need a groan smiley, lol
GB, thanks for the updates. Well, Montero will have more of those in his career -that’s the nature of baseball. He’ll probably have a great game tomorrow.
I am at In n Out right now.
No bluffing.
Has anyone noticed Mariano and Marte have zero era’s
Hope Boone Logan gets a call up, he did great in ST and still didn’t make the team, if Park goes on the DL.
Yankee wins lead to sweet dreams.
Nite all.
Nick,
– rubbing it in?
MYU, Very good……….Nick in SF….Double Double with cheese and onions / order of fries….Now that Lent is over, I’m going this weekend….Then an extra 1/2 hour at the gym
Don’t order it animal style.
And your milkshake must be vanilla!
Grrrrrrr, I am so hungry now. Ok, I’m definitely going to Five Guys tomorrow.
So much for Kazmir as was the case in postseason he’s nothing to fear.
I don’t like onions, eating double double, fries, vanilla shake, pic up on my flickr page.
One last post for the night.
