When a President calls you by name

Derek Jeter has been to the White House before. He’s meet the past three Presidents, and he said there one thing that stood out about his first meeting with Bill Clinton.
“It’s kind of awkward when they know who you are,” Jeter said. “That was probably the weirdest thing with President Clinton. ‘Hey Derek, how are you doing?’ What?”
The Yankees will return to the White House this afternoon, with the official ceremonial events beginning at 3. Jeter said walking into the Oval Office is “sort of like being in Steinbenner’s office.”
Jeter has met President Obama in the past, and although the President will likely be rooting against the Yankees this weekend — they play his beloved White Sox — President Obama has said he’s a fan of Jeter.
“When a President calls you by name, that’s hard to believe,” Jeter said. “Any time someone says something like that, especially coming from the President, it’s overwhelming.”

Didn’t Predient Obama call Derek the old guy in the clubhouse at last years All Star Game??

Wonder what the CG’s and JV’s and NJs do during this little field trip? Do they get to go, too?

LOL…no, not question marks. Tried to paste the characters, but can’t apparently.
They’re like a lower case “a” with a carot on top, and a backwards “C” with two lines through it.
Oh well….
Obama should be in awe of Jeter, not the other way around.

Here’s the answer to the question you posed re: JV’s early season starts in prior years. if you wish to study further the info. is from “baseball reference”.
2006 ERA after 6 games = 2.88
2007 = 3.52
2008 = 3.72
2009 = 4.19
CG is visiting family in baltimore, nj will maybe catch up with old teammates over at nats park, and jv will cry into his hotel pillow.
Vazquez is an embarrassment? I guesst he Yankees are supposed to go undefeated. Maybe he should take HGH like Pettitte and Yankee fans will view him as a hero and a hall of fame candidate. With the emergence of Hughes, this guy is the No. 5 starter. who cares abotu a No. 5 starter. Last year in the playoffs the Yankees didn’t face a team that had TWO Good starters, let alone four or five. He’s lost twice to the Angels and once to the Rays, it’s not like the Mets hit him around.
Let’s dump Vazquez and Nick Johnson for Halladay and Pujuols! Oh, but Gardner will still be in left field … pathetic. These writers are the embarrassment.
“New Yorkers don’t really care about Derek Jeter’s girlfriend Minka Kelly, as long as the Yankee captain is doing well (which was this case this past season), but a Starbucks barista in Tampa Bay claims that she’s a pain in the ass. Writing to Gawker, the barista explains, “Minka came up to order. She looks harmless enough but when she opens her mouth? Yeah, not so much. She’s rude, demanding, and has one of the most annoying voices I’ve ever heard,” and launches into a story about Kelly freaking out about an order that wasn’t even hers. The barista adds that Jeter “used to be one of the nicest people to step foot in the door. He was always smiling, happy, friendly,” and a good tipper but lately it’s been “No smile, he wasn’t friendly, he didn’t tip and he seemed …like a different person.”"
I read this…..Dont quite believe it….but if so, ruh roh…
I think Jeter made sure the Yankees didn’t win the Series so he didn’t have to pretend to be impressed with meeting George Bush.
To paraphrase from last week’s 30 Rock, in a game of beer pong between the Yankees and former New York mayors at Derek Jeter’s pad, the mayors would win.
“Obama should be in awe of Jeter, not the other way around.”

Hmmmm, while I am the biggest Yankees schill to exist, I dont quite know about that.
Obama has taken this country to a place, that even 10 years ago, would have been unthinkable.
It took a man with great charisma (and a predecessor of Bush) to achieve what he has achieved.
Gawker? who cares. A-Rod is obviously the biggest jerk on the planet but he plays well so who cares what Jeter does.

I don’t think that a thread about meeting the President needs to turn into a political discussion.
Its an honor to meet the President. No matter who the President is.

If Joba can pitch at .500 or a little below where is the harm? It saves the team 11 millon bucks and gives Joba a chance to develop. The 11 million spent on JV could be spent on new baseballs, gloves, and uniforms for the team lol.
Why shouldn’t Alex admire his homers …for the most part they are things of beauty…

Agreed.
Is Family Ties an 80s sitcom?
Hey, I’ve got an idea.
Put Joba back into the rotation.
Trade Javy back to the NL – to Cincy, who needs a starting pitcher – for Volquez, who is 26 years old.
Then, if the Yanks have the same trepidation about Joba in the postseason, they can slot Volquez into the rotation instead, as he’ll have served his suspension. (Hughes is an option for No. 4, of course, depending on his innings).
Javy goes back to the NL, we get a a cranky but high-end arm and a guy who’s only 26.
Tell ya what, CR9, the old Glen Sather – when he was actually still bold, iconoclastic and not yet a fat cat – would pull off something like that
.
Any way, all the people ready to crucify Javy could just exchange him for a new-old whipping boy – Joba!
Really – with some of these posts about Vazquez, you need only replace “Javy” with “Joba” and it’s the same song and dance.
This way, nobody feels deprived

“According to the Cuban Ball Players web site, the Red Sox have signed a catcher named Adalberto Ibarra to a major league contract worth $4.3 million. He is said to have an “elegant” swing.
It’s an interesting move considering how highly the Sox think of Mark Wagner, Luis Exposito and Tim Federowicz. Ryan Lavarnway is off to a great start, too. But you can never have enough catching in the minors.”
Speak of the devil, elegant swing! LMAO!! Here is Pete propping up Red Sox prospects, while all he ever did on here was call out the NYY and the fans evaluations of our prospects!!
The Sox think highly of everyone, or at least portray that to the media (while themselves knowing that their guys are bums).

That isn’t such a thing.
Fishmongers can be wholesalers or retailers, and are trained at selecting and purchasing, handling, gutting, boning, filleting, displaying, merchandising and selling their product. In many places fishmongers, like butchers, are a dying breed. With the advent of many modern ways of distributing and packaging food, supermarkets often opt for less expensive alternatives to these trained, highly skilled professionals.
I don’t think any player should admired his homeruns, but that’s just me. Look at them on the videotape in between innings or after the game. Not a fan of styling. Not even by Alex. Not even though most of his homeruns are no-doubters.
That isn’t such a bad thing to be called lol.

Wow! Sorry I missed the lynchings! So it is Javy & Nick getting the wrath here!
Last year it was Posada, CC & AJ. 2008 it was Melky & Cano.
I am so glad the Yankees don’t listen to the whimpers and self claimed experts of this board and trash the team. Everyone starts off differenetly every year. Some like Tex seem to start slow every year and so did Bernie Williams. I specifically remember Bernie being thrashed for not being a hitter or “clutch” for so many years as he started so slowly each year.

Hey MTU!
I’ve always been a serial poster, and I’m usually on five different sites.
Also, the Penguins are in the heat of the Stanley Cup playoffs. This is the one time of year they take precedence over the Yanks.
Also, I was, and remain, very disappointed with the club’s direction on Chamberlain, and it was about that time I withdrew from this place and others. Still stinks, but the team is in good shape for 2010. I don’t think it’s as strong a team as last season’s, but since the 2010 Yankees don’t have to face their 2009 edition, I’m not too worried about it.

For more information on GTLU, click on my name.
But, bodhi is correct; Guess The Line Up (GTLU) is a way to pass the time before a game by trying to guess what lineup Girardi is posting. Some days it’s a challenge, some days you just rack up wins knowing it’s going to be the standard.
So far, the prize is bragging rights.
Even Joba wasn’t this bad last April. Actually he wasn’t bad at all. But look how that turned out.
Unless Javy’s hurt, the ability is in there somewhere. It’s up to him to coax it out.
Like I said though. Javy’s got a decent sized mental challenge ahead of him on Sat. Not only will he have a boo-thirsty crowd ready to pounce but I’m sure he’s got Ozzie Guillen on his mind as well. Obviously Saturday’s not a “big game” but there’s probably some animosity between them.
We’ll see. Maybe this is the push that Javy needs and he throws a gem. If so, he’ll get cheered I’m sure.

BTW – your photographs are amazing.
“It’s funny, Javy looks like he picked right up where he left off with us. Baseball is a crazy game”"
When we got Javy the first time he was touted for being this great talented pitcher and at the time of our trade I think he had 47wins 46 losses. Then the theory was that he would be a 20 game winner since he had been with the loser Expos all of his career. Six years later, his record is .500 and people said he would be the best number 4 starter with number 2 stuff.
He is a .500 pitcher period. Who is to say that at age 33 he will maintain that level of “excellence”? Next year we won’t have to pay 10 millon for a mediocre small market pitcher like JV since Young Master Hughes will not have an innings limit.
GB-
“I figured that two statues without arms would be a better comparison.”
You’re absolutely right. Apropos. No arms and Female.
Actually the only player I feel over does the admiring is Manny ((I’m sure there’s plenty more but not to that extent). He stands at the plate for about 2 minutes before he even starts running (or trotting) around the bases. No reason a player can’t watch the ball in flight but they better be SURE it’s a homer before they start doing that homerun trot…
Actually …I think Cano likes watching them go too … but he’s a Yankee so who cares …;)
Go Yankees 2010 !!!
Javy is soft, he doesn’t have guts. They should not trust him at all.
He got enough opportunities to prove I am wrong already.
Javy is not an average pitcher that’s insane..
“Excellent well, you’re a fishmonger”
Bless you bodhi. A Hamlet reference before lunch. Hamlet was calling Polonius a “pimp” I believe.
As for Javy, I say: “The fault….is not in our stars,…..But in ourselves…”. Julius Caesar
I have appropriated the Bard’s words to say that Javy holds the key. Only he can fix the problem. To that end, I’d take Javy out of the rotation for a start and do some sides with him until he gets over his “mechanical” issues. Move Hughes up to No. 4 for now and let Mitre take Javy’s next start.
IMO, Javy needs a Mulligan.

Cano’s wide, spread out finish in his stance is a reason that it appear’s that he’s watching the hits. Not uncommon. Mattingly’s swings were much the same. It’s also a reason that he doesn’t get out of the box on ground balls very fast.

I definitely feel the Golden Girls has taught me more than my parents ever did (that show, along with the 90s song by Desree “You Gotta Be”). I’m sure my parents would be proud to hear that.
As far as Javy/Joba.. I’m sorry, I know its early but I cannot be optimistic enough to believe Javy will come around eventually. I think this guy has always had a mental issue as opposed to mechanical ones and when it comes to playing for the Yanks, we just really seem to chew up pitchers like that (for obvious reasons). I know Joba had ups and downs as a starter, he had periods of brilliance and inconsistency, but I’d rather sit through another season of Joba the inconsistent starter than Joba the inconsistent reliever. I would always look forward to Joba’s starts because I was curious to see who would show up, and (IMO) I always felt like Joba’s moments of dominance outweighed his moments of sheer “w.t.f.?”
I just think Joba has a better upside as a starter than Javy does (better velocity, more pitches). I’ve thought that since last year and have always thought the guy should be in the rotation. So I’m sorry to start this up so soon, but I just can’t help myself.

miggs- GTLU Reigning Champion April 26th, 2010 at 9:13 am
The disgrace that is Javier Vazquez is much more tolerable when the team is off to such a good start.
——————————————
I will never understand the mental state of a fan that calls a player on the team he roots for a “disgrace.” It is even more mind boggling when this word is thrown around after 4 starts.
Yes, after 4 starts Javy has disgraced the Yankees. He is such a disgrace after 4 starts he should not even be allowed to wear the Yankee pinstripes. His next start, the Yankees should make him go out in an all white jersey.

Good point about getting out of the box slowly! That short step causes some delays. Funny thing is most guys hit 1B with their right foot which slows them down when trying to get a double.
The crossover step is almost lost as well.

I suspect the President is slightly pre-occupied these days for anything more than a glance at the boxscore.
(Not that I’d compare schedules, but when my kids were babies and life was a lot more hectic, baseball was certainly an afterthought. But it didn’t mean I didn’t still love it or have a favorite team.)
orning, Bodh. Hope all is well.
Never had any use for ball players that stand and gawk at their own play. It’s an infection that has hit every level of every sport. The showboating turns my stomach. I blame a lot of this…most of it, actually, on Reggie Jackson and Billy “White Shoes” Johnson. Give me a John Havlicek, Mattingly, Jeter or Walter Payton any day.

Hi GB7, hope you’re feeling fine this morning.
I think those guys were balanced human beings, as well. Being able to hit a baseball 500 feet, or having some other elite skill, assures nothing in terms of character.
We have to add Rivera to the group.
I’m looking forward to listening to Vizcaino-Jo-Ram on radio tonight! I’ll leave the reporting to you, though

Not to be pedantic and sanctimonious, but sincerely, people who have to demean a player with such derogatory language have a general problem. Why wouldn’t it come out on an internet board?
It’s one thing to have not liked the trade – I didn’t, and I don’t. I also think Javy will bounce back enough to help us, although that’s just my conjecture, as what else could it be.
It’s quite another to make character assassinating comments, over and over and over again, none of which have any objective weight, as has already been observed.
We went through this with Hughes being “soft” and Cano being “lazy.” Nothing new, sadly.
Bodh, I was hoping to get to that game, too, but, not quite ready. I am going to tune in to watch the Scranton game on Wednesday against Louisville and Chapman.
Jim Mason said, “I think Jeter made sure the Yankees didn?t win the Series so he didn?t have to pretend to be impressed with meeting George Bush.”
I laughed when I read this for 2 reasons, 1) I read someone showing “proof” of the Yankees only winning under a Democratic President…(like that makes a difference) and 2) I saw an interview with the Russian President who was talking about the recent agreement to reduce nuclear weapons (similar to what Reagan did) and the Russian President said, “I like President Obama because he is a thinker.” When pressed about what he meant, he said, “I think it is pretty clear the difference.”

MTU, short of injuries further up the pitching levels, I don’t see any reason to move Warren. Let him learn at a normal pace. Not really a need to rush him through the system.
MTU,
he’s supposed to move fast, but the question is, how his stuff translates as he moves. If he winds up in Trenton before long, I’ll be taking in a start.
Planning to see Stoneburner pitch at Lakewood, NJ next week. Was hoping to see Jo-Ram, but if the schedule holds, I’ll miss him by one day
.
It’s mediots like Joel Sherman that try to incite the fans, who don’t need it. In his blog today, he basically said after only 4 starts that Vasquez is bringing the rotation down and that there were those in the organization (yeah, ok – like Sherman would know) who thought Vasquez had some kind of “loser gene”. He then asks fans some dumb rhetorical question as to how many more chances he gets. It’s four freaking starts and the Yankees are supposed to make a radical change; it’s four starts and they are supposed to decide that Javy sucks. So Sherman mentions that there were those who didn’t want Javy, but he neglected to mention that many more in the organization, including the most important people, DID want him. I don’t want to see Sherman write any articles praising Javy after he turns it around. I also don’t give a hoot what that psycho in Chicago thinks of Javy.

I guess so. There’s already a logjam.
It’s just that he is a college guy and is doing very well.
Looking forward to your impressions of Chapman. Don’t be shy.
Ray, there was never a doubt about Jackson’s talents, but, I always thought he had a lot of dog in him until it suited him. I appreciated the numbers he put up in 4 of the 5 Yankee years, but, never had any use for him. He was an egotistical jerk…but, hardly a team player. It was only his talent that got him through.
I agree Betsy! Hope you are doing great today!

Game3: Said , We got to see the New stadium, it’s nice, the hotel was nice, and that’s all I have to say about the last three days.
~Beckett goes on the Mound against a team that owns him tonight, Toronto. ERA iin 12 career starts he’s 3-5 with a 6.62 , the WORST against ANY AL team. In 29 innings he’s given up 12 HR. Last year in 10 1/3 innings (over 2 starts) he was reached for 12 runs on 14 hits, 6 walks, and 5 homers

You are right about his ego, but he was a team player albeit he learned the hard way. He was captivated with the limelight. He and another one of my heroes (Munson) didn’t hit off well to start but later they became friends. Reggie was great with the youngsters according to two of them I knew, but there was always an edge with the veterans. Billy didn’t like him! LOL! But their were tons of people he hated or wasted.

Hahaha, I remember it as “that out of a thousand?”
RayVT,
Reggie has really changed as a person. He has truly evolved.
Will never forget Jackson overcome with tears, standing in the OF, after Thurman’s transition to the afterlife.
Those were not crocodile tears – there might have been some guilt mixed in with sorrow – but it was genuine.
Can you imagine someone saying that?
During a meeting with Cash’s braintrust.
Cash: I think we should trade for Javy. What do you guys think?
I am not so sure Cash. I think this guy has the loser gene. Before going forward. I really think you should get a DNA test on this guy.
Rivers would get Jackson so confused with his chatter. Love to read about his digs at Jackson. He figured that he was just as good as Jackson. rivers ony problems were his wife, the ponies and other women.
Sounds pretty normal to me.
Sherman would now from a “loser gene”.
How about Bobby Abreu dropping his bat and enjoying the scenery yesterday? Lord, that was obnoxious. But I suppose he’s still bitter.
Don’t like Toriii Hunter’s bat flip.
And Cano is borderline with how he drops his bat. And sometimes it’s not even a HR.
Jackson never knew about it until years later that the only reason he was a Yankee was on the recommendation of Munson, who called Steinbrenner and told him to get Jackson at any cost.

edit: who was. Forgive me, it’s Monday.
“Javy is not belonged to AL East. He should have a better career in NL.”
Once again:
Vasquez AL WHIP: 1.271
Vasquez NL WHIP: 1.238
Vasquez Yankee WHIP: 1.335
In context:
Pettitte Yankee WHIP: 1.386
Burnett Yankee WHIP: 1.403
The idea that Javy is incapable of success in the AL or on the Yankees is ridiculous. He has actually been quite successful in the past, particularly compared to other 4th or 5th starters.
Why so much for someone who will only be there for 4 years? Too much hype for presidents. It’s not like anyone can run for it. It’s all predetermined depending which party you belong to. I have yet to see an Independent party member get into the White House.
Betsy – I totally agree about Sherman’s propaganda, but the guy does have a point in asking “how many more chances does he get?” Because lets be realistic.. right now, yes, it has been 4 pretty bad starts by the guy. And anyone can forgive that. But what about 4 starts from now? I realize this is just a guessing game and that we cannot predict results, and if he gets into a groove, well, thats great and all this is a moot point. But lets say we see the same Javy in the next 4 starts. Then what? The guy has some good pitches but if you can’t locate a fastball at the big league level, why should I expect that his next 4 be any better?
I’m not a Javy hater by any stretch of the imagination. I actually feel bad for the guy. I would like nothing more than for him to take the mound on Saturday and shut the fans ready to boo him up. But… I just don’t think its gonna happen. I don’t think the guy has a “loser gene” but I do think his mental problems are way bigger than his mechanical ones and on the Yankees guys like that rarely perform well.
Bodh, Winning was all that mattered to Munson. He always said that he wanted to play in Cleveland to be closer to home. his wife said that he would never play for another team and that’s why he began flying.
Sherman also raked Phil over the coals after his debut against the Jays. I already forsee trouble on the horizon if he dares to pitch like a 23 year old and struggle. The only pitchers probably not wearing targets on their back are Mo and CC.
Sorry Shame, that whole blog was an immature rant by a man who seems to relish Javy’s problems. It’s only four starts – I’m not about to engage in a guessing game as to how many this guy gets. He’s an accomplished veteran pitcher -he’ll get as many as the Yankees think he should get.
GB7
Mike Dunn pitching for the Braves AAA team on MLB network.
Watch Mo hit a rough patch for a month and see how many come out of the woodwork to proclaim him as washed up.
It happened in 07, it will happen again.
Maine, I refuse to watch any Braves team unless it’s against Yankee teams. I’m afraid that it would infect my computer..or worse..infect me to the point that I hate baseball.
GB7
I thought you would like to see Dunn pitch. I guessed wrong.
Florida Marlin’s prospect, Mike Stanton is getting warm. He was 4-4 yesterday with 2 homers. Today, he’s 3-3 with 3 homers and 7 RBI. He should be batting this inning (bottom of the 7th) coming up.
Betsy, I understand your opinion of Sherman is.. well.. it is what it is. And the same can be said of my opinion of Javy, since I didn’t think he’d be such a great addition when he first showed up and the results thus far have (in my completely biased, prejudiced opinion) shown why. All I’m saying is, it might be too soon to be asking “how long does he continue to start?” but at this point every start will be (and should be) eyed pretty closely, especially when the problem appears to be a lack of control of his fastball.
GreenBeret7 April 26th, 2010 at 12:57 pm

Yeah, I remember.
Maine, I was never all that impressed with Dunn. all he ever showed was a big fastball and no clue.
“The idea that Javy is incapable of success in the AL or on the Yankees is ridiculous. He has actually been quite successful in the past, particularly compared to other 4th or 5th starters.”
I really like the idea behind this post.
Javy is really bad now. But they aren’t asking him to be a #1 – #3 starter. In fact, he may not even be their 4th starter.
And I don’t believe this is a season long issue. There are adjustments to be made. Before long, Dave Eiland will straighten him out.
I say this based on no fact. More track record. CC and AJ both have admitted to falling into bad habits and crediting Eiland on fixing the issue. I think the same will happen with Javy.
I totally agree about Sherman’s propaganda, but the guy does have a point in asking “how many more chances does he get?”
===
But the whole thing is predicated on something false.
This exaggerated view of Vazquez as Failure is because of one pitch.
He never should have been summoned, with the bases loaded, to pitch to a LHH who previously owned him.
It was one of the worst managerial decisions of all time – second only to starting Kevin Brown in that game. In fact, it would have made way more sense to start Vazquez.
The problems he’s having now are a concern because of how he looks, not because they confirm some half-baked assumption that he is gutless.
What kind of analysis is that?? That’s for idiot consumption, frankly.
Betsy why do you read such garbage? Sherman is hardly worth ranting about.
GB, I am getting there. Painstaking procedure. lol. Wish I was done and working on the next one.
Bodhi, so good to see you my friend.
Dunn also has a nasty, nasty slider. I was disappointed to see him moved.
When you have a failure as large at the 2004 playoffs there is almost never a single person to “blame.”
The 2004 playoffs were a complete system level failure. Torre, Gordon, bloops off Mo, stolen bases, Kevin Brown hiding an injury,…. the list literally goes on and on.
But when faced with system level failure people often still look to pin the result on a single individual.
For unfortunate reasons, Vazquez is the guy who has come to be improperly singled out as the “cause” of the 2004 playoff loss.
It’s ridiculous – but that’s what a myopic understanding of what happened in 2004 does.
I’d guess if you ask most of the fans who are dismissing Javy as “soft” many of them would actually believe that Vazquez was the one who loaded the bases in game 7 rather than being the guy who was called in to clean up Kevin Brown’s mess.
Many of these perceptions seem to stem from Vazquez being traded. Too many fans have interpreted this as Javy being “vanquished” from the realm for a wrong of near infinite debt rather than one of the last acts of impetuousness in a long line of them from George Steinbrenner.
And once he was gone, it become easier and easier to consolidate the blame for the loss to the Sox to Javy. He was the guy who wasn’t around anymore to defend himself with his performance.
Many yankee fans and members of the media like to see themselves as different. More sophisticated or passionate. Part and parcel of this seems to be the preternatural ability to intuit what lies in the heart and minds of a player.
And thus people can be certain that Vazquez’s problem is that he’s “soft” or has a “loser gene” in him.
In this regard New York is just like Boston and Philadelphia – two other places where a set of exceptional people can have intimate knowledge of another person’s internal being just be cursory external observations.
It’s remarkable how so many people can be so exceptionally different in such a similar fashion.

New Post: Want to watch the Yankees at the White House?
But when faced with system level failure people often still look to pin the result on a single individual.
===
This is even true of success. Failure must find a hangman. Success must light on a “personality.”
Sports is entirely “personality” driven. It’s why analysis is so lacking.
His next start is against his former team/manager with the fans who are ready to boo him off the field, as his backdrop.
After that, he is scheduled to start in Fenway (though they do have the option to skip him and would be wise to do so).
Sherman is mean. A “loser gene”? No athlete has that – it doesn’t even exist. Javy’s doing the best he can; he’s a fine pitcher. Sherman sounds gleeful over Javy’s problems. Not to be repetitive, but the Yankees organization as a whole decided to trade for him. I want Sherman to go through every single transaction the Yankees have made in the past 10 years and list all the employees who were for or against those deals. It’s not like Javy Vasquez is some unique case where it wasn’t unanimous; every single one of those transactions probably had a dissenting vote or two.
CB- Brilliantly stated Sir.

I liked Coke, also. We are starting to produce some good arms, and AJax’s start isn’t a disappointment to the Tigers, I’m sure.
If Dunn could get a little better command, that would go a long way. When he does, he has a sort of tamed wildness that makes batters extremely uncomfortable. I would like to see him, and all our farm products, succeed. Was happy to see IPK had a decent start against Philly the other day.
Who cares that he’s facing the pale hose next? Guillen is a certified nut and his opinion holds no water.
Yankee fans are no better than Pirate fans or any other fans no matter what they say. They are sometimes cruel to players and it has absolutely nothing to do with them trying to motivate players (which is sometimes their rationale for booing). CB raised some excellent points and I agree with all of them. Get over 2004 already – it was 6 years ago
CB: Very well said, beginning to end.
Obama’s ‘beloved’ White Sox? Obama himself has made it clear he has heard of the White Sox, but that’s about it. He has no emotional connection with the team, as was elicited during his interview after throwing out the pitch at the Nats game.
