Joe Girardi is bugging me
today he decides not to have gardner 2nd?
He is a tricky one….
Sometimes i think he f’s with the lineup just to play with us.
The usual. If a nice lead is built up, Thames comes out of the lineup.
one thing i knew though was gardner was not sitting out instead of johnson.
I seriosly thought about batting Swisher second. Note to self: always go with gut instinct on GTLU.
Erin April 29th, 2010 at 3:41 pm

*seriously*
Last time Gardy hit 2nd, he went 0-5…
that is a winning line-up
Erin-
Did you have Thames as DH???
I thought for sure Granderson would be sitting against the lefty
well there was a lot of variety in today’s line up guesses, so hopefully someone won…not me however
Why no nick jhonson?????
I like the fact that Girardi has decided to use GGBG against a lefty.
If NJ would have played I think I would have had it.
Oh well, no accounting for a balky back.
CC’s fault for putting the honus on AJ
CC should have taken care of the retaliation last night with a big lead. Maybe that was the reason Joe sent CC out for the 8th, to retaliate, but he didn’t….
I submitted that lineup today! I guessed right for a change.
Why is Nick Jhonson not playing ?? Is he injured again ?? He always plays against lefties…..
One game back and NJ is already out of the lineup? It may not be due to the back – we’ll have to wait and see – but that’s very strange if it isn’t the back. If it is, then it’s starting to be concerning.
lol. Did Girardi win? Glad he’s keeping Thames out of the field, but giving him a shot at the lefty (I’m starting to become a true believer).
CB,
You might be interested in this. I think you mentioned the ripple effects of Howard’s contract?

Congrats. It wasn’t a gimme.
Playing BG over NJ.
OK, BG can rattle the pitcher if he gets on.
Looks like Joe wins again.

I saw your comment about healthy calves this morning
Like this lineup! It really brings out the players’ eyes!
The hate for Guthrie is kind of amusing! Im pretty sure his HBPs are unintentional…If they happen in another start, or a couple more starts in a row, I wont be so sure any more.
I am starting to hate this game. I feel like such a failure. LOL
Thanks MTU!
Erica,
I know.
Calves that keep you out of games are soooo sexy. NOT!
Swish and Tex go deep in this game; maybe back to back…
Guthrie has 16 HBP over he past 2 seasons, 8 against the Yankees. Not counting the ST game with Tex.
AJ needs to send a message that this punk shouldn’t throw inside if he can’t control his ball.

Erin-
Did you have Thames as DH???
*********************
No, I didn’t, so I still would have lost. I would have at least been a little closer with Swish though. LOL
I guess Girardi wants Thames in there against lefties, after all he is a 500 hitter against lefties. However he finally relaized that Thames is a liability in left fiels so he is DH’ng him! I guess i like the move…
GGBG in there is only bizarre if you don’t account for
A.Johnson is coming off an injury.
B. Johnson kind of hasn’t hit for squat
C. Thames is horrible in the OF.
AJ already has 3 HBP this season. There was a good chance he was going to peg somebody regardless of what happened to Jorge.
Erica,
I see you lost your must-win GTLU. DFA talk is in the air.
Of course, I lost too, must-win or else for me tomorrow.
Yankees will win 21-0 tonight!
We’re simply not going to see Gardner hit in the #2 slot against a good lefty and I’d venture Girardi believes Matusz falls into that category of a good lefty.

Why does Francessa keep saying NJ is a .290 career hitter? He hit .290 last year, he is a .270 career hitter.
And shouldn’t you be sitting the lefty who can’t hit lefties (Granderson), not the lefty who kills lefties (NJ).
Thames isin’t that bad in the field, he hasn’t cost us any games.
Erica
I thought after running GTLU last year you had it figured out.
guthrie really needs to taught that if he can’t control throwing inside, he can’t go in there.
the yankees gave him and the benefit of the doubt and guthrie still hits a key yankee again.
the yankees need to pick the right spot in the game with a relief pitcher they can afford to lose for a few days and drill someone like markakis or weiters.
then markakis and weiters will get the message to guthrie to knock it off.
I had a feeling that Guthrie was going to plunk Posada last night. After he had that aborted first pitch, Posada stepped oout and went through his whole routine again. It appeared to me that Guthrie looked a little peaved at that, and I was not surprised at all with the result. To me, that was definitely intentional.
Doreen – thanks for being a good sport and doing the GTLU contest.
Thanks Doreen!

Thames is going to play against lefties because he kills lefties.
They keep Gardner in the lineup for defense.
That puts Johnson on the bench. It has nothing to do with injuries.
Its actually the right call, given that Thames and Gardner are both hitting better than Johnson right now.
BryanHoch No roster move has been made regarding a Yankees catcher.
Tough tough game tonight. We haven’t exactly hit the O’s pen outside of that rookie they called up to close the game the other night either.
Might have to win a low scoring game.
Randy
I’m not sure if the Yanks should hit any O. If they do AJ should do it and get it out of the way. As soon as it happens both benches will get warned and it will end until next week.
So where can I find the Orioles’ lineup as early as possible?
agree, randy.
we need to send them a message tonight. it should have been sent last night, but we didn’t for some reason. so it should be done tonight.
let guthrie know they are repercussions if he wants to try and go inside with no command
Ok, that makes sense SJ…………but doesn’t it seem as if now NJ is a platoon player?
congrats Ray, I actually like your line up better than my guess. Glad that Girardi didn’t win!
I thought that Johnson would play, and that Thames would play left in place of Gardner. I don’t enter my lineups, though.
The train-wreck outdueled the car-wreck.
Dontrelle Willis seems to have overcome whatever mental and mechanical issues he had.
Please not Wieters. Starting fantasy catcher.
Did bench him last night though, and it paid off. Wieters 0/4, Bengie Molina 3/4.
Markakis please. Right in the arm. No more outfield assists for him.
Somehow AJ needs to hit his back arm at the plate

I thought after running GTLU last year you had it figured out.

I did too!
Erica = Epic Fail
One game doesn’t make him a platoon player Betsy. You can’t take one move and extend it for longer than it is.
With Posada out and Gardner hitting well, they need another RH bat in the lineup.
If I was AJ, I’d look to just pitch well and win the game tonight.
Its a long season and there is plenty of time for retribution.
If though, they are up 7 in the 5th, you gotta drill Matt Weiters to get your point across.
Absent that though, its more important for them to win this “must win” game.

I don’t want Cody Ransom to replace me
It would break my heart if people thought he was a better poster than me
I think it’s tough to make an overall statement about not hitting the Orioles relief pitchers when there has only been one game so far where it was an issue; and in that game it was so obvious that the Yankees were tired; and in that same game, they did put up a good effort in the 9th inning and only a good play/good positioning kept them from tying the score on ARod’s grounder up the middle.
upstate kate April 29th, 2010 at 4:00 pm

That’s what I thought!!!!!!!!!!
I swear, Girardi liked this line up last week- I used one of his weird ones
I am SOOOOO glad Girardi didn’t win GTLU today. There were so many different lineup combinations, most of which had good logic to them that if he had pulled an entirely differently lineup out of his hat, I’d have screamed!!!!
If AJ hits markakis, it’ll be to spite me. I left AJ off the All-Hottie Team, and Nick was the mvp.

But this was a “must-win” game for me!!!!! LOL
I am in a terrible GTLU slump
I am a better poster than you.
swish is second because he is red hot right now in camden yards.
The prime opportunity was to do it last night in the 8th inning. The game was in hand and CC could have drilled one of them. The warning would have been useless because it was the end of the game. We would have sent the message nd that would have been it.
Today is a bit more tricky. If AJ hits someone in the 1st, the umps might get trigger happy and send out warnings… thus, AJ can’t go inside the rest of the game either because he’ll be ejected if he hits someone (and he already has 3 HBP this year).
Would have been much more sensible for CC to do it in a 6 run blowout than, what will in all likelihood be, a close game tonight IMO.
SJ, good point – I tend to do that a lot.
I also agree – I want to win the game, not turn this into WWF match. That said, I admit I want someone on the O’s to go down if at all possible; did CC attempt to brush any of the O’s back last night?
If though, they are up 7 in the 5th, you gotta drill Matt Weiters to get your point across.
___
AGREED
E = MC²
I think this Joe takes it more seriously when his hitters get plunked than the last Joe. He really seems to get fired up about that.
I don’t mean get hurt, by the way – I just want the O’s to know that the Yanks are not going to be pushed around.
wonder if ramiro pena is sitting in a dark corner rocking back and forth at the possibility that if cervelli does down, he would likely have to catch.
LEAVE WIETERS ALONE. I NEED HIM. BASEBALL REVOLVES AROUND FAT WALRUSES.
Wich catcher from the minors would the yanks call up, If posada is injured??
Sey, good points. Of course, CC was getting tired at the end and putting another baserunner on might not have been such a good idea
Yawn…. A-Jax with another 2 hits today and a stolen base…. hitting .330.
Just another day at the office for him….
more likely the pitchers don’t do anything. after all, they hate georgie.
Erica
You’re being to hard on yourself. I wouldn’t call it epic. That to extreme.
Good for Austin!
Too bad you can’t have your cake and eat it, too.
The NYY brought back Chad Moeller and put him at AAA just in case a catcher goes down and the NYY need a veteran backup.
I have no problem w/ retaliation in principle. However, last year when Padilla hit Tex and AJ retaliated, AJ got the suspension and Padilla (who did it on purpose, and is known to intentionally hit players) only got a small fine. I don’t want to see AJ thrown out of the game and/or suspended.
Someone come up with something really funny. I want to try a new acronym.
” If they do AJ should do it and get it out of the way.”
i don’t think so because aj is too valuable as a starter and he doesn’t need to risk a suspension.
i was on the yankee bench as a guest at fenway once for a few hours before game time when showalter was manager. the red sox had hit some yankees in the previous games and the yankees wanted to retaliate.
showalter held a close door meeting and the players as a team were asked how they wanted to do it.
they voted to have steve howe come out late in the game when mo vaughn was up and absolutely just drill him on the first pitch in the lower back or butt. another pitcher would be simultaneously warmed up and be ready to come in.
Suzyn Waldman was in the pregame dugout and was trying to get info from anyone what was going to happen because somehow she got wind of it, but the game was a one run game the whole time and there was no chance to have howe drill vaughn.
so while i say the yankees should drill someone, it has to be done right and only if it can be done without risking blowing a game.
Francesa is right about one thing, the Yankees don’t need to get into a beanball war with a last place club in April. The Yanks have bigger fish to fry.
Then the O’s and bad teams like that can continue to use the Yankees as target practice…………..
I agree with Randy, but at some point it has to be done.
i forgot about aj being suspended last year.
that makes it even more important that he’s not the one to be hitting anyone on purpose.
IPK 6 innings 1 run so far. He’s only thrown 74 pitches to this point.
Robertson (intentionally) “hit” someone in a 1 run game on Tuesday
How did that work out? Can’t hit people in close games.
CC should have done it but didn’t. He ended up walking a guy in the 8th anyway, so you might as well have hit him. Even if he was tiring, we already had 2 outs in the 8th inning with a 5 run lead and a rested MO ready for the 9th. That was the spot for it.
that should read UNINTENTIONALLY hit someone
RiverAveBlues Ian Kennedy today so far: 6 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 5 K. I wonder if Curt Schilling thinks he’s an NL-only pitcher too.
I like this lineup…gets Thames in the lineup and keeps Gardners defense.
Ian Kennedy has settled in in AZ and is really dealing right now…..good for him!
and I won’t even talk about AJax’s production so far but he leads the AL in runs scored and already has 3 web gems on his resume…
If someone on the O’s has to be drilled I prefer it happen next week @ the stadium.
Revenge is dish best served cold.
By Francessa’s logic, why hit anyone? Just continue to be used as punching bags like Torre’s teams… after all, wasn’t that the logic then too? (bigger fish to fry?)
“Then the O’s and bad teams like that can continue to use the Yankees as target practice…………..
I agree with Randy, but at some point it has to be done.”
There is a time and place for that and it isn’t today.
IPK just added an RBI to his impressive game.
they should let Joba do it….then he can do his fist pump/when the umps eject him! That would be so badass!!!!
“IPK 6 innings 1 run so far. He’s only thrown 74 pitches to this point.”
isn’t ian kennedy still a yankee ?
Francesca is rarely right about anything. I’m fine with picking and choosing the right moment, but just do it.
AJ has 6 more runs scored than Jeter
Perhaps he is like Cano or Cervelli… a much better big league player than his minor league numbers would indicate.
Dombrowski is a good GM, it was foolish to think we were going to “hose” him.
What if he hit’s someone not on purpose?
He hit’s a lot of batters!
And with our young catlike catcher back there, AJ might be feeling a little extra “wild” today.
Yes. He’s playing in the Yankees Arizona farm system right now.
fist pump/dance when the umps eject him….
“There is a time and place for that and it isn’t today.”
what’s wrong with today?
I lived in Washington for years. While I lived there I watched the Nats. Nick Johnson was their first baseman. Nick Johnson was always hurt. Nick Johnson will always be hurt. I don’t know what Cashman was thinking…
Payback is always sweeter when it’s least expected.
Happy about IPK, too.
Again, I sure wish we could have our cake and eat it, too, but…
“By Francessa’s logic, why hit anyone? Just continue to be used as punching bags like Torre’s teams… after all, wasn’t that the logic then too? (bigger fish to fry?)”
You pick and choose the situation to even the score without it being a detriment to your team’s goal. We don’t need AJ getting suspended for hitting Oriole today. We have 15 more games with these jokers with enough opportunity to send a message.
Coke is doing great for them as well.
Kennedy with an impressive outing at Wrigley Today
Randy, with all the updates on IPK and AJax, they might as well be. I don’t get the need to update how they’re doing all the time; it’s almost as if people are implying that the Yankees made a bad trade because they’re doing well.
Ajax is still striking out like he did in the minors though. I think he leads baseball in that category. At least he’s got the good average to make up for it.
SJ is right, AJ will let the Os know they’ve got Georgies back; but only if they’ve got a lead…
Not only is Cody Ransom an underappreciated commenter on this board, he can also jump over one of Trisha’s comments from a standing position.
It’s on youtube. I think.
You guys do realize we face the Orioles next week at home after we play the Chi Sox right?
Ironically, Guthrie pitches in that series too.
I have no problem with the trade, but people simply don’t want to let go of it. After the trade, I did wish AJax well, but I was never intending to follow his career. I’m trying hard not to root against him, but it’s almost hard not to at this point.
betsy -
it’s an inside joke with ian kennedy being on the team.
think about it you’ll remember.
he’s not in anyone’s farm system right now he’s the #3 or 4 starter for the AZ D-Backs and in successive games has shut down both the Phillies and Cubs offenses to the tune of so far 14innings 6hits 1run 10ks

AJ threw at someone’s head though. hit him mid game in the leg of butt.
Oh snap.. Girardi got me on this one. I thought that he might sit Johnson because he hasn’t been on fire lately but I was thinking he might keep him in because he just came back yesterday after a few days off.. I never woulda guessed Thames as the DH anyway though.. oh well, .500 it is..
They are former homegrown yankees. People like to check up on them. Better than repeating the same crap about “OMG SHOULD WE HIT WIETERS” over and over.

Betsy, I wasn’t implying anything. I saw the tweet and figured people would want to see that he was doing well. I guess not.
What sucks is that the Yankees are the only ones to get suspended; they can be used as target practice, but then have to sit on their hands because otherwise Bob Watson will come down on them. His handling of the Padilla/AJ thing last year was disgraceful.
I can’t imagine A-Jack is going to K more than Granderson annually.
And Grandy has only hit 2 HRs so far, both in Fenway. He had 7 HRs in April last year…
Jackson is going to be a nice player for them. Wish we could have kept him.
Paranoia is a funny thing…. people are implying everything.
Betsy
If the Yanks were to trade Phil Hughes in the offseason would you continue to follow his career and root for him?
YankeesWFAN Just walked past Ramiro Pena in full catchers gear. Looks like a kid playing dress up. At least he’s trying.
LOL Poor El Nino.
OMG we should hit Wieters with Austin Jackson!
Kennedy performed well against the Phillies lineup and the Cubs in Wrigley. Not like he was facing the Padres in Petco.
YankeesWFAN Just walked past Ramiro Pena in full catchers gear. Looks like a kid playing dress up. At least he’s trying.

He has to learn the signs
Or perhaps he’s having a hot first month of the season.
Its probably best to wait a little while longer before deciding how great or poor someone is after 20-25 games.
We will see how Jackson does as the league adjusts to him.
All those strikeouts are bound to catch up with his game at some point in the season.
Scranton’s playing the Cubs?
I don’t understand.
Erin, I have no idea why you are so defensive; I didn’t direct my comment to you. I was referencing the fact that every day there are updates on these guys Not just updates, but then they lead to the constant whining about the Granderson deal. I don’t recall this being the case with other trades. Fine, I can ignore them, but then don’t get on people who keep bemoaning the fact that we lost the next Mickey Mantle or Whitey Ford. When Granderson was hot, we got fans complaining; he’s cold? Fans are still complaining. For some reason, Granderson is disliked by a segment of fans who frankly are just probably ticked off because he’s older than AJax.
Nick in SF
I think you overstate Ransoms jumping ability.
It is up to NJ to get his act together. If he was getting the job done then he would be in the lineup. But he is getting outplayed by both Gardner and Thames right now. His OBP is still good, but his AVG and SLG are so low he is not a productive player right now. He has had some bad luck with a really low BABIP, but he really looks bad at the plate will all the Ks. I have been a big NJ supporter, but as the DH he is not going to have a super long leash if he continues to play like this.
About Austin Jackson, the Tigers better be prepared for a serious dropoff in his numbers. They are completely unsustainable.
I don’t see a reason why AJax won’t strikeout more than Granderson. That was AJax’s one flaw in the minors.
or maybe just maybe he makes adjustments and cuts down on his strikeouts as the majority of his K’s are on called strike 3 looking.
I can’t speak for anyone else, but there are some players I like to follow after they’re traded. It doesn’t mean I think the Yankees made a bad deal. I like to see favorites do well, even if it’s not here (except against the Yankees).
I got attached to IPK in September ’07 and I feel like we all nurtured Ajax to maturity!
Plus, I think it reflects well on the Yankees as a whole when they end up trading players who they were initially resisting trading and those players turn around and do good things. I like to think if they had stayed, they’d be doing just as well (of course you never know for sure).
I followed Andy Pettitte the entire time he was in Houston.
He’s already struck out more times than Granderson this year. Unless he cuts down on the k’s, he’s going to K over 200 times this year.
That will eventually catch up with him unless he makes an adjustment.
Erin
Hope he doesn’t have to catch AJ. Would have to put someone behind Ramiro and the umpire to field all the balls that would get by him.
i like following players i liked on the yankees .
i always liked soriano and enjoyed following him until he retired with the cubs
Champ, what the heck is your point? Of course I would; I wouldn’t necessarily updated the blog on all his starts, but that’s just me……The problem with constantly updating how these kids are doing is that it feeds into the notion that the Granderson trade was a bad one. I’m sorry, but that frustrates me.
If IPK gets a CG I lose a dollar. TO MYSELF.
You help by warming up the pitcher between innings and next thing you know they have you in catcher’s gear.

Betsy, I’m sorry if I misunderstood. I thought that since I had just posted that on IPK, I was included in your “I don’t know why we keep getting updates on them” post.
Not a big deal.
And I love Granderson and always hoped he’d be a Yankee.
My interest in IPK and Ajax is totally a separate thing.

Very subtle, Bronx Jeers. BTW, you are now on the clock to claim your prize for that contest you won by default.
If you default you will receive a supplimentary sandwich pic, but I just posted a Puerto Rican sandwich pic last night, so I hope it doesn’t come to that.

—————————–
Couldn’t agree more. He needs to get his act together. The more passive he is with all those called strike 3s down the middle, the more his leash will shrink.
No one has said the Curtis Granderson trade was a bad one. People are just following former homegrown Yankees (Coke, Jackson, Kennedy) and stating how they are doing. That is all.

Me too!
Doreen, I was not implying that fans should not follow these kids. It’s more of a comment on how frustrating it is that Granderson gets killed because we had the nerve to trade AJax for him. Grandy has a terrific track record, but it’s apparent that fans don’t have much patience for him. They grew attached to AJax and they wanted AJax to succeed here; as a result, Grandy is expected to be perfect.
randy
Maybe Superman.
Betsy
I have seen no whining about the Grandy deal and certainly not in conjunction with the AJax updates.
Prospects to some fans become kinda like your own kids and so naturally we “root” for them to do well albeit in another uni…
also it reflects well on the Yanks farm system when their prospects come up and produce and kinda justify the hype.
Again I ask you if the Yanks were to trade young master Hughes in the offseason would he become persona non grata to you? I doubt
April always produces strange, “can you believe it” numbers with some players. Its the small sample size equation.
I get that the prospect huggers believe AJ will be great and not have any dropoff. Perhaps that will be the case.
However, given his numbers to date, LGY is correct. He will have a steep dropoff unless he cuts down on the K’s. Its inevitable because the way he is going is unsustainable.
Will he adjust? Time will tell.
The baseball world is filled with guys who have had unreal April’s and couldn’t sustain it over a season.
On the flip side, Mark Teixeira can hit .120 in April and be the runner up for MVP.
Way too early to project numbers out on any player, let alone a rookie.
Betsy -
The people who think it was a bad trade are going to think so whether or not someone posts an update on IPK and AJax.
Until and unless all the new players surpass the old players (whether they ever played on the ML team or not), there are people who are going to complain. That’s just the way it is.
Plus, we don’t all like all the posts that happen during the course of a day. Some people don’t like having to deal with GTLU, for instance. We all end up scrolling past something.
“YankeesWFAN Just walked past Ramiro Pena in full catchers gear.”

the ball will just knock them right over.
Matusz faced the Yankees last September. 7 innings, 4 hits, 1 run, 2BB, 3Ks
Good AJ tonight please.
Erin, no – I always appreciate your updates. I just feel really badly for Granderson who I think is getting a raw deal. I find that the constant updates (which are fine in and of themselves) lead to people bemoaning the trade. The same thing goes with Matsui/Damon/NJ.
Judge, we are clearly not reading the same blogs/message boards then because I have seen implications that that was a bad deal all over the place, especially when Grandy slumps (like now).
LGY, I’m starting to get frustrated at NJ as well. I know he can hit (though he’s not as good as people think), but he just seems to care about walking.
IPK was a good kid who said some bad things.

Did anyone think Spencer was going to continue to hit the way he did when he first came up?
If they did they were disappointed.

Maybe Grandy doesn’t read this blog.
And if he does, I hope he scrolls past when necessary.
“You might be interested in this. I think you mentioned the ripple effects of Howard’s contract?”
Stark is describing the 2011-2012 free agent 1b as a kind of “class.” We get that a lot in baseball and I think it’s misleading.
There is no class of player who belong to the one Pujols belongs to. He is a class of one.
Similarly, Prince Fielder is not in Adrian Gonzalez’s “class.”
Ryan Howard isn’t even on the radar of any of those players.
Playing the same position doesn’t make the individuals similar players.
But grouping in those kind of categorizations tends to really make the lesser players look better than they truly are.
In that article Stark says the reason why Phils signed Howard now was because they were afraid that if they waited until after Pujols signed then Howard would only be more expensive. In other words Pujols would “reset” the market equlibrium for the “1b market” and thus makes Howard more expensive.
And for what it’s worth Stark is a fan of the Phils and relatively close to the club.
But this is completely erroneous thinking and if this is really what the Phils were thinking (and I can’t believe it is) then what the Phils are saying is that they have no idea who a market works and have no confidence in their own ability to scout and value a player’s talent.
To say Pujols next contract would have a material impact on Howard’s is to implicitly feel that those two players are comparable. They aren’t. They aren’t in the same “class.” Alex Rodriguez’s contract had no substantive impact on Aramis Ramirez’s.
In a similar vein, the whole notion of the the 2011 free agents being some kind of historic “class” was completely over blown and if teams did actually make moves with the notion of targeting that “class” rather than a specific individual player in that class then that’s a big mistake. 2011 was potentially special because Halladay and Mauer (pujols option will be picked up if he’s not extended). Well they’re no longer part of the class.
To me that sounds like Stark is making inappropriate comparisons to make Howard’s deal seem better than it is for a team he is close to. Not saying he’s doing it to be “biased” but if another team signed Howard to that deal I don’t know if Stark would have the motivation to start drawing implicit comparisons to Pujols.
Speaking if Granderson, he has struck out 10 times in 26 PAs vs LHP Ihave resolved not to worry about CG’s AB’s vs LHP until the end of may, but that is worrisome.
We face two more lefties, both good, in the next series. I wouldn’t be surprised if Curtis sits one of those games. I’m not sure today is anti-Johnson, we may see NJ, CG and BG each sit once in the games tonight and this weekend.
In the 160+ posts on this thread, I have not seen one person trash the Granderson trade. That’s all that anyone was referring to. This thread. Nothing more.
Doreen, I agree. Hey, I skip past the GTLU stuff
I guess I just feel badly for the new guys, who I feel have not been given a fair chance by reactionary fans.
Jackson’s BABip is .491.
That is an impossible number to sustain. Even if he cuts back on the K’s which is not exactly promising considering he struck out so much in the minors, he is still in store for a big dropoff.
BryanHoch Joba Chamberlain is officially on Twitter at @Joba_62 !
Did I say I was referring to this thread only, Judge?
Joba on Twitter? Ok…..
Pat, thanks for the updated. I don’t think this is a great idea, but I suppose it was inevitable.
“Very subtle, Bronx Jeers. BTW, you are now on the clock to claim your prize for that contest you won by default. ”
I nearly forgot about that. How long till it expires? Can I have 24 hours?
I always enjoy all the ex-yankee minor league players doing great except when they play us or play for RSox. I think it shows the strength of our minors versus the propoganda.
It’s amazing how some were driving the Granderson bandwagon to Monument Park after the first 8 games of the season but it’s the silly prospect huggers who don’t understand that it’s too early to cheer and root a kid on who they may feel some connection too because 15 games later he’s still having success.
I have yet to read ANYONE on here voting AJax into the HOF and instead just seems like AJax has a few “fans” on here that root for him to do well and would like for him to succeed. Imagine that!
Betsy-
You might like GTLU if you tried it
Ken Sinleton likes to talk about the time he was on the Os and they had to use INF Len Sakata as a catcher for 1 inning. The first guy got on (with Sakata catching) and the pitcher Tippy Martinez picked the guy off. Same with the 2nd and 3rd guys up.Both got on and both got picked off. Sakata then led off for the Os and hit a GW HR. Guess he really didn’t want to go back out for a 2nd inning!
No, but you did pretty much lash out at the people who only referring to this thread.
Erica
Do you get royalities for signing new players?
Good Bets
then you should understand why some may be interested in following IPK and or AJax in their careers, no?
Erica, I’m not criticizing the GTLU – it’s just not for me.
24 hours, no problem.
Starting… NOW!
Wait, I didn’t make note of the time..
Ok, starting… NOW!
*scratch that who. or add a ‘were’. either works.
*Singleton*
Champ, I don’t think we’re on the same page at all because you’re implying that I think following ex-Yankees or ex-Yankee farmhands is wrong. That’s not what I said.
NYYROC
Thanks for sharing that story. One for the books.
Judge Smalls, I did not – and I’m not going to get into an argument with you about it.
Singleton tells some good ones. I like his Earl Weaver stories!!

I skipped past GTLU last year.

Boy, the Yankees must be doing a lot of worrying, lol

No. But that would be awesome. I need to come up with an alternate plan for money. This working crap is really not for me
LOL Doreen………..I really was not criticizing it, so I hope Erica didn’t take it that way; different strokes for different folks, you know?
Yes you did. And I, or anyone else for that matter, could care less about arguing with you.
MaineYankee –
I draw the line at taking shots at Shane Spencer who was obviously the greatest Yankee of all time (to create a handle with).

Anyone playing for Weaver would have stories to tell. Also probably some they couldn’t tell.
I love Singelton……
Baseball people tell great stories. I was at a banquet honoring Zimmer 3 years ago and 2 of the speakers were Leyland and umpire Denkinger (sp?). Those guys went on and on with some really funny stuff. Didn’t want them to stop.

People still rob banks don’t they ?
Maybe you can be the next Bonnie.

I still remember the summer Shane Spencer came up and hit all of those home runs. And teenage Erica told her Grandma “He is going to be the greatest player ever”. LOL
Why the hell can’t Chris Young be consistent. Saves my team one day, ruins it the next. Silly youngins’ and their not being Albert Pujols. What failures.

I would prefer something legal. I don’t have the stomach for anything otherwise. And I wouldn’t last 10 minutes in jail

How about “gold digging” , or the Lottery. Those are safer.

I see we don’t want you to be a talent evaluator for the Yankees.
Kate-
If you’re out there.
We lost another one today off Angel’s. Very sad.
BryanHoch Just so you know, @Joba_62 is pumped about how his phone is lighting up. Spread the word Yankees fans!
Yeah, I also admit I thought Shane Spencer would be roaming our outfield for a while… then again, I was 11 years old and also couldnt understand why we even had to PLAY the regular season since it was clear the Yankees were the only team that ever deserved the title of “Champions”
shane spencer: best yankee legs ever!

I would say what I am thinking, but then at least 75% of the board would yell at me. Possibly more. So I will just say MPB and let your imagination so the rest
“Randy, with all the updates on IPK and AJax, they might as well be. I don’t get the need to update how they’re doing all the time; it’s almost as if people are implying that the Yankees made a bad trade because they’re doing well.”
“After the trade, I did wish AJax well, but I was never intending to follow his career. I’m trying hard not to root against him, but it’s almost hard not to at this point.”

how should someone then Betsy interpret these comments?

Nothing like a “sugar daddy” to simplify your life, and to keep you in the style you could grow accustomed to.
Best of luck. It definitely beats working.

Girardi upset at Guthrie, and 7 of his last 11 HBP dating to 7/08 have been #Yankees, and that doesn’t include Teixeira in spring #Orioles
___
well this seems to eliminate the idea that guthrie is just normally wild.
I am not bragging or anything, but I entered my first line up today and got everything just about correct. Only I didn’t get the Cervelli, Gardner order correct (I should have remembered Left-Right-Left which Joe likes to do when he gets a chance). Swisher is kind of hot right now, and that got him number 2 spot. Thames is hitting the lefties but looking awful in the outfield and that earned him the DH spot. Gardner has been all-around good, and he got to stay in against a lefty. I think this is the logic that Joe used and I think it makes sense.
CB,
I totally get what you’re saying.
And having 3 good to great 1B in a normal market would depress their value somewhat.
But, you know St. Louis is going to have to give Pujols more than Howard for obvious reasons.
Fielder’s situation is tougher to get a read on. You don’t know if the Brewers front office is posturing or would they really let Fielder go. With Braun as one of the faces of your franchise, there could be less pressure. Fielder would be overpaid, I think.
Gonzalez might make a pretty penny if he makes it to FA.
At any rate, after this winter, I don’t want to see any talk about Tex’s contract. Though I suspect we will.
