Any updates on Pettitte’s elbow?
thursday is going to be a battle.
We should be able to stick out two of those first three (if i assume either sergio or javy will take a loss).
so happy the games will be on YES. After having to endure Buck/Mccarver, and Miller/Morgan, I will never say a bad thing about Kay again!
its scary for detroit when dontrelle willis has the best ERA on their staff.

Verlander has been more human in 2010 than he was in 2009 but he is always tough. I can’t believe that Dontrelle and Bonderman are still in their rotation, but then again when you are paying them the kind of money Detroit is it’s seemingly unavoidable. Be curious to see how those guys fare against this lineup.
sabathia /verlander
now that’s a match up worth watching.

LOL, I’ll say
Yankees better make sure to bring their bats in this series, give me 1 of the first 2 games and I’ll take my chances with Hughes and Sabathia in the last two, for 3 of 4.
That would be a nice cap on us playing 22 Road Games vs 12 Home Games so far after the Detroit Series.
Boy we do have a lot of home games to make up for. Considering the Yankees are 42-10 in the last 52 Home Games, Yankee Stadium has become a fortress.

Great to hear, he even wanted to go in this series, but the Yankees are being precautionary.
Wowza. Glad I slept in this morning. Everyone’s going all cannibal in here.
I read through all the comments, and even though there were many diverging POV there were many good points made.
And that’s the beauty of the blog, you’re free to speak your mind without (hopefully) being called an idiot. You’re free to e-mail the moderators. You’re free to leave. You’re free to lurk. You’re free to speak off-topic without getting slapped from the others in the forum.
There are lines and there are lines. The one about cancer’s is about poor taste and everyone recognized that. But the comments about one particular young lady’s anatomy that showed up last year were very personal and very objectionable. Easily one of the most offensive things I’ve seen here. There’s poor taste, and then there’s violation of TOS.
Chad folks speak the truth. They can’t police the blog. The alternative is to have all the comments await moderation until someone at the mothership releases them. Were this to happen, this place would die as if it bit into a cyanide pill.
Pete didn’t really police the blog either. If you emailed him about something, then he’d delete it. And he was much more arbitrary in his own policing. It didn’t even need to violate TOS.
I wish it was Phils turn today!! I’m so impressed with his maturity and control.

I wonder if Sanchez is going to be replaced for another pitcher. Ivan Nova is on the 40-man, so there wouldn’t be a problem there. I don’t think Melancon has been down long enough since his last option.
So?.would Sam and Chad not be allowed to post about non baseball topics??
The reason this board is so special is the off topic discussions.
Yes the baseball discussions are top notch and I equate them with a classroom.
The off topic discussions I equate to a barroom, or a backyard BBQ.
taking away our freedom to express ourselves as something more than baseball fans would take most of the fun away and many of the posters.

For the few seconds I turned up the volume on the Fox Game, those two dolts were insufferable to put up with.
What made it enjoyable though was the blowout game they had to call. Made it well worth it.
randy – yeah, Verlander seems to be turning things around. Not sure what was wrong in the first place, maybe mechanics of his delivery just a bit off at the start of the season. On paper, that’s a great matchup, though. Wish I could be home to watch it live. Hope it’s an encore showing on YES.
Seems Al and Tex are coming around and Swish is on fire, Robbie and Jorge?

Hughes with another national game, time to shine
AJ had a bad day. He’s started 7 games, had 4 quality starts and is 4-1. Not whining about it or bridge-jumping here. CC is doing slightly better. If Hughes has a bad game next time up, he’ll also be about on par with them. Still, if you have 3 guys in your rotation going 3-1 or 4-1 over 7 games all year long, that’d be a good thing to have. Most teams would love to have a few 15-20 game winners. It would be good to know Pettitte’s going to be able to pitch all year though. For him an off year would still be 11-12 wins. I think he can also get at least 15 this year if he doesn’t get hurt. Again, most teams would love to have a few (especially four) 15-20 game winners.

Mel,
Well said in your 1:11 post.
I saw that the Riverdogs had an early game today. Stoneburner was taken out after one inning. Anyone know why?
butterfly effect.
If Alex never invades Bradenia, Does DB pitch a perfect game?
I don’t know what was more pathetic, Buck’s singing or the fact that the 2 top guys on a national network, people who use words for a living, didn’t know the plural of dove is doves. I think I learned that in 4th grade (many, many years ago
)
This is from a post on NYYFans:
Listening to game right now. Announcer just said that Stoneburner was not removed because of injury. Does not know the actual reason but has confirmed it was not injury related. Said he is in the dugout right now leaning over the railing watching the game
z you realize that there have only been 19 perfect games in baseball history right? It’s an amazing accomplishment worthy of lots of coverage, regardless of how much of an idiot/low-class loudmouth the guy who pitched the perfect game is. It just makes me look forward to his next start against the Yanks, as I fully expect their offense to be focused on putting a nice round number up against him, should they cross paths.
Uncle E-nobody seemed to appreciate this tweet from Sweeny this AM-I know you will.
YankeesWFAN RT @eboland11: ARod, instead of saying “uncle”, should have gone Ed Rooney: “you just produce a corpse…I wanna see this dead grandmother”

Fran,
Thanks.
I don’t think I could live with “awaiting moderation,” how could I fire off shots at Nick in SF?
The LA Times Lakers Blog was my first experience with a sports blog. Despite the fact that they moderated every single comment (anywhere from 15 minutes to overnight for your comment to show up), they did surprisingly well. Easily the best Lakers blog on the net. I emailed the bloggers (The Kaminisky Bros) and implored them to check out this new LoHud Yankees blog I had found. I told them all the great things about volume, traffic, hits, pretty good filter. But it never happened. The K-Bros have moved on to be the official Lakers bloggers for the losangeles espn site. It’s more like what Edes & matthews do, and secretly I think they miss the interaction with the regulars even though they’ve reached the pinnacle in a blogger’s life.
We all have choices to make, and I hope that people can hold their tongue a bit. It’s terrible to see so much sewage here, but as someone pointed out the complaining is just as distracting.
Erin Thanks.

Related to the perfecto but slightly off-topic, it amazes me that two left handers who pitch to contact & wouldn’t be categorized as overpowering can pitch perfect games against pretty much the same Tampa offense two years in a row. I guess we have to hope Pettitte starts against them every time we face them for the rest of the year. Then again, CC also flirted with the no-no against the Rays so maybe it’s just that LHPs give them fits in general. Someone better at the Internet could probably post their team’s offensive LH/RH splits, but it won’t be me. Be interested to see if there are big differences
Patrick, first he has to be eligible to be a league leader, lol – he’s not yet and I really can’t figure out when he will be.

Mel,
It does seem as though some people are never happy and just want to complain. And that is their choice. But the level of profanity and slurs is just awful. The game threads are just unbearable which is unfortunate because I like watching the games with many of the bloggers.
Who do you think is better suited for #2 after Jeter: Gardner or Swisher. I think Gardner would be interesting in that spot.
last year, verlander turned it around on us also. hopefully we arent the team that set him straight this year.
Quick work Jerkface, thanks for re-posting. Glad that the Yankees know the value of good left handed starting pitchers and are prudent enough to keep them around as often as they can. I ask that you not share those Rays offensive numbers with Cliff Lee’s agent between now and winter 2010
You can win the Cy Young without being on the leaderboard for anything. It’s completely based on writers’ opinions.
NYY have played 30 games, Phil has pitched 32 IP. So he should be on leader boards(or top ten) for wins, ERA, WHIP, BAA etc.
NYYRoc, so until the end of the season, Phil won’t be on any official leaderboards? LOL That’s just weird………
Patrick, of course -I was being facetious; I don’t think Phil is winning the Cy Young this year.

Neither do I
Ha! Save Ferris! Good one!
Patrick – when every bridge jumper was giving up on Hughes a couple years ago I was in the group not expecting him to hit stride until this year or next.
It would be nice to see him go something like 16-8 with an ERA hovering just below 3 this year (just taking a guess, not projecting or predicting) then see him at least in the running for the CY next year.
If he’s in it this year that would be great to see. A plus for the team. But it’d still be early to really expect with his innings limited to whatever they are.
I was thinking Ian Kennedy would still be here too but now he didn’t work out so well, did he?
Hughes is second in the league in ERA , WINS, and 27th in K’s but he has 2 less starts than most of the other leaderboarders

Betsy, no. I believe a SP qualifies throughout the yaer as long as, at any given point in the season, the pitcher has at least 1 IP for each game his team has played. See my 1:35PM post. Phil should currently be on leader boards.
NYYRoc, now I think he is, but it keeps changing, lol. I don’t really care in a way as it’s way too early to even care and the #s still count….

Jeter is at a career low in BB%, P/PA, LD%, OBP. Career high in GB, swinging at 10% more pitches out of the zone, swinging 10% more in general.
Jeter should be batting leadoff.
for scranton
Thanks for fulfilling my prophecy. No thanks for being dopey
If Phil ends up with an ERA hovering around 3, then he’s as close to being an ace as you can get…….As we discussed re: the Rays pitchers, Phil is going to have to deal with fatigue and normal ups and downs. Now, maybe the downs won’t be so bad, but his FB is so full of life now – how will it be later in the season after he’s thrown more innings (and stressful ones, in MLB) than he’s ever done so?

Your eyes are more innocent than mine. It’s hard, but I just stroll past the ugly stuff. And, yes, the game threads are hard to bear. A lot of good regulars stay away by choice. But they always chime in afterwards, so you get the good with the bad.
As for Phil Hughes, he’s got 32 IP and we’ve played 30 games. So he’ll probably still be on when he starts the 33rd game of the season on Wednesday. He just needs to pitch more than 5 inninngs to stay on. Not that it’s very important.
I hope A-Rod doesn’t piss off any more pitchers from the 409
Wait A-Rod angered a pitcher from the southeastern part of Texas? Was it Roy Oswalt? I thought he was just ruffling SoCal feathers?
And this weekends match-ups against Minny should be

Sat – Scott Baker vs Andy
Sun – Blackburn vs Javy
What happens if Sergio pitches a gem and Javy falls down again?

You’re right though Jerkface, the numbers you quote for Jeter are troubling. I still think he’ll be fine this year but I’m definitely a bit worried.
Porcello did not go more than 6 innings in 26 of his 31 starts.
He only made 3 starts in the month of July
He also had a weird stretch from June-August where he did not even pitch 6 full innings in 13 of his 15 starts during that stretch.
He only pitched 7 or more innings in 5 of 31 starts, Hughes has already thrown 7 innings in 3 starts.
If they want to follow the Porcello model for Hughes, they have some work to do lol.
I can?t see the Yanks sticking with Winn and Thames all season ? just a feeling.

Consider this, so far this year Jeter is playing like 2009 Cano with less power. Jeter without his walks to keep his OBP in the above-average to elite level is a bottom of the order hitter.

tex,
Agree. We cannot play Thames in the OF and it limits him to DH. He is not going to be a pinch hitter for anyone with the way Gardner is hitting.
Melky could probably hit better than Winn.
Did anyone watch Yankees On Deck this past weekend? Funny part when, in ST, it was picture day. Players up early and waiting in long lines. One scene showed Jorge, with glove and bats in hand, looking POd, walking out. Joe commented, “When you get to be Jorge’s age you can get a little grumpy in the morning.”
Jeter and his range (or lack thereof) to his left has been hotly debated since time immemorial.
suffice it to say, it has never been his strong suit.
his ‘range ridiculously to his right and make the jump-throw play’ has always masked his greatest perceived deficiency.
I think his range to his left is in line w/his career trend.

Mike_Boston -
You asked about yesterdays and GTLU.
I had posted a couple of times that there would not be GTLU yesterday. Three people posted lineups, though, muffinstump, yankswin27 and unknown (at least I only saw those 3). Yankswin27 did correctly guess the lineup, but I am not counting the result, since there was no official game and it would not be fair to people who would have participated had there been GTLU.

Are you from NYC?
People always talk about being from the 718 vs 212
I believe Elaine on Seinfeld was outraged when she got a 646 number instead of 212
And Carrie Bradshaw in the SATC movie hated her 323 area code instead of 917
ARGH-
That last area code should have been 347, not 323
i love how people still act like melky is a 4th outfielder. He was the starting cf all last year after gardner’s 3 week trial, and put up good numbers. He would no doubt he a good leftfielder while granderson is out and a good player to have off the bench once granderson gets back.
718 also includes Staten Island, no matter how much derision it gets, as well as the Bronx. It is the de facto outer borough area code. Also now in the mix in NYC is the 917 for cell phones, as well as 347 for cell phones (which I think was added because there weren’t enough 718 and 917 numbers to cover the huge boom in cell phones in New York).
So to recap, NYC has a ton of area codes. And, Dallas Braden is an idiot.
Sweeping the Tigers is our latest fate
Andrew-

Don’t forget Staten Island. Shaolin !

I’ve noticed that as well
Erica it’s true, you worked in two seminal New York City TV shows in your dissection of the issue, so your rundown was way better. Oh also apparently in January it was decided that the next area code to hit the outer boroughs in New York is going to be 929 because we’re going to run out of 718s and 347s by 2012. So get ready for that one. (Apologies for the useless info, everyone not in NYC)

What’s the area code for the coconut wireless?
BTW, did anyone else crack up when Scutaro tried to do the Jeter Pirouette? It was either Sat. or Sun., but it was totally fail.
I wonder if the big Stein really liked his calzones? Ever wonder why no area codes begin with the number 1 ?
I chalked Jeter’s seemingly improved range to his left last yr to better positioning.
It just didn’t seem logical that was actually covering more ground than in year’s past.
according to FanGraphs, his range factor is actually greater this yr than last (go figure):

How about Ro. Sanchez saving our pen last night vs the red sox.
Good for him.
He did his job. Could not have been easy.
Tonight our pen should be fully rested(minus Aceves) to pitch after Mitre.

m it was last night, Scatter-throw delivered about a 15 hopper jump throw to Youkilis and Cano was safe by about 10 feet. He gets points for the jump and the throw’s accuracy, but major deductions for having the arm strength of a 5th grader.

z, I read fangraphs differently, it looks to me like Jeter’s range factor and UZR/150 is down significantly this year, although it’s way to early to put much confidence in any UZR numbers.
You know you’ve made it when you have a 212 area code ! If you can make it there, you can make it ANYWHERE

Bill Madden in studio with Mike
Talking about his Steinbrenner book
———————————————————————
I believe Madden is the writer that’s closest to the Steinbrenner family.
I ordered a copy yesterday.
My freshman year in Albany I had a phone where the “7″ would stick.
I would have to dial 9 to get out + 1718 to call my family.
Except the 7 was broken and I was regularly calling 911. I had to buy a new phone when they threatened to arrest me
WTP,
He was impressive.
The bad part about AJ’s bad, short outing was that leaves us without a long man tonight when we really needed one. Even if Aceves can go, I don’t think it’ll be for extended innings. We can piece-meal innings together, but then there’s Javy. Whom I’m expecting to pitch better, but we need contingency plans.
I wonder if they’ll see Ace is feeling before making a move. Or as GB7 said yesterday, send Russo down for another pitcher.
Sergio-Javy-Phil against a good offensive club like Detroit needs a reinforced bullpen imo.
z- not range factor per se, range runs (RngR), which I think is more meaningful than range factor.
holy crap!
livan is second in era in the major leagues.
i’m even smarter than i think i am
Jerkface, you have gotten in some great zingers today. My keyboard is not happy.
Fran, I am glad your line up is the same as mine, as you are the GTLU leader.
I have to dial 9 then 1 then the # to make a call from my desk at work, and frequently wonder how many people in my company screw up and hit the 1 instead of the 2 when calling within Manhattan. Then again, maybe to dial 911 I’d have to dial 9, then 1, then 911? Too confusing and/or ridiculous to consider.

LOL. I hope you don’t have any emergencies
Andrew,
Scatter-throw? nice!
As for the most exotic area code, it has to be 808. I know this is so because there are some lovely “ladies” employed by Club 808.
M- I’m not too concerned with our bullpen vs the tigers. I have a feeling a move will be made because Ro won’t be available for at least 2 days.
He could be sent down(instead of Russo) for another reliever.
I have a feeling that Javy will pitch very well tomorrow night. I really do believe that. I also think that Hughes will pitch very well Wed night. If that happens, our pen should be fine by Thurs(when C.C. pitches)
randy – don’t get carried away there.

That was my only run in with Albany Police.
However, I did have a massive near-miss with the UAlbany Campus Police during some hazing. Rather, some people called the campus cops on me but I was gone before they arrived.
However, I made the newspaper crime blotter anyway. It said:
Report of disorderly female disturbing patrons. Gone upon arrival
“Report of disorderly female disturbing patrons.”
that’s about tight
Kirk, I’m a dentist in the 718 area code. I can tell the guy wouldn’t know a toothbrush if you poked him in the eye with one!!!
right not tight
m I didn’t make that up, I’ve read it elsewhere on the world wide interweb, possibly even here before. But yeah, his weak arm is pretty amusing at times. He’s an okay shortstop and a better all-around player then what BOS has had there (regardless of Alex Gonzalez’s hot start) for a while.
As to the bullpen, Ivan Nova maybe gets a cameo appearance as the “In Case of Emergency” pitcher to eat innings if Mitre and/or Vazquez get bombed? He and McAllister’s turns in the rotation were flipped at Scranton, meaning Nova is on his regular rest and is built up to throw as many as 100 pitches.
lol
something tells me you were ‘gone’ upon arrival in more ways than one.
as a fellow Great Dane, I totally understand.
Madden giving any medical opinions on George’s health for profit while everyone around him has secreted his condition seems icky.
Doreen,
Should be Swisher in RF and Winn in LF and Gardner in CF. Thanks for picking up my typo.

RL,
I hope we beat Joe Girardi
Z…. my kids watched Electric Company, but I never heard of 321 Contact.
joe from long island-
yeah, maybe i should rephrase that
but what started out a joke a few years ago when some knucklehead kept asking me to name someone who would be a better 5th starter than hughes or kennedy and i said livan hernandez .
i was a bit surprised how much uproar that caused.
almost everyone thought he’d have his little lucky run with the twins and be out of baseball, and it crossed my mind too .
but from watching him now that i had gone out on a limb by naming him, i could see he was a pretty interesting pitcher. the funniest thing was that nick in sf used to just so ballistic over me making comments about livan that he inadvertently started to follow him and realized he was beating the spreads more often than not because he was perceived to be so bad.
so nick in sf being the shrewd person he is has won more than a few bets betting on livan.
No under

Betsy,
One thing Mike F. does very well is interview people. Even if you don’t like Bill Madden, he knew George very well. It is really a very good interview.
That list plus:
Mike_Boston
SAS, when Mike doesn’t interrupt, he can be very good – but I absolutely despise Madden and I will not buy his book. I admit, I might flip through it in the bookstores, but he’s just impossible for me to stomach. I will acknowlege that he probably has very interesting stories to tell and that it probably is a very good interview.
MLB,Bud Selig set to take control of Texas Rangers, THEY OWE CREDITORS $300 million. Hicks only wants to pay $270million, and has a group ready to buy for 570million. Selig will step in if Hicks and creditors can’t form an agreement.
I wonder if the Alex contract was a big part of their debt? MLB hasn’t owned a team since the Expos in 2001, before moving them to DC as the Nationals.
I don’t have time today to watch Mike F, and I rarely do; but I agree with SAS that I usually find his interviews to be good.

That’s what happens when you get old. You take naps. Sometimes they occur at inopportune times.
And at least his offensive output was an unconscious effort. His teammates are awake and are producing the same results!

I think Klapisch is being a bit rough on Cashman…….There was no reason not to make the Javy trade.
I live in the 708
but I use the 630.
I got it going on!!
And yes, Enough of Braden already.
Nova-Congrats on the call-up. Now be ready when/if you are called upon!!!
doreen, swish in right. typo on the initial entry. sorry about that.
Today’s Guess The Line Up is Now Closed.
Thanks to everyone for playing and special thanks to upstate kate for opening the game.
Good luck!
Betsy – “Still, Vazquez’s performance represents a gross miscalculation by GM Brian Cashman, who banked on both Vazquez and Nick Johnson over the winter. Both gambles have failed.”
It’s May 10th. No one in baseball has failed at anything. This guy is a moron.
muffinstump & Fran -
I corrected the typos.
I don’t see Fox Sports writing articles about Bostons “Pitching and Defense” failing miserable, like they are claiming with Nick Johnson and Vazquez. Sensationalist nonsense.
Kay show about to begin.
He already said the weekend series proves the red sox are not very good. YES!! That is a comment I can support.
Can’t judge a trade one month after the season starts. It’s just plain silly to do.
So, Ivan Nova it is. The star shines….

D-train derailed in Motown tonight
Wow Nova got the call?
I guess it’s long relief for Mitre or Vazquez.
Kay just proved why he is so annoying and among the “worst” play by play announcers in MLB
Took him less than a minute to use the term, “rob peter to pay paul”. SHUT UP!!!!
“Arizona has voided the contract of 17-year-old prospect Socrates Brito following the outfielder’s 50-game suspension for PED use.”
I never thought that anyone named Socrates could be that stupid.
Nova is needed because Ro pitched last night and would not be available tonight or tomorrow.

released? WOW. what a way to end a career.
Braden deserves any kudos he gets for pitching the no-hitter. But to keep tying it into the “situation” with ARod is just tired.
MLB Trade Rumors update on Wang:
Wang is recovering from shoulder surgery and hasn’t headed out on a rehab assignment quite yet
Why did Griffey come back this year? Last year should have left little doubt that his skills were way gone.
In the end, it won’t tarnish his reputation. He put up legendary #s in the most-tainted era of the game, and he is beyond reproach or recrimination in that regard.
(on a side note: man, can he hold a grudge, or what? We get Ken, the Big Stein wouldn’t let you play on the field or roam around the clubhouse. Get over it, buddy!)
Doreen,
Thanks
“you’re from central MA?”
508 goes all the way down to cape cod where i live.
… surrounded by red sox fans.
Willis scratched from his start against the yankees due to pants-wetting-fear. Brad Thomas, who is even worse, starting in his place.
Yankees are either going to score 200 runs or be perfecto’d
Doreen
He’s doing the Letterman Top 10 List tomorrow night so it will be beyond tired after that.
Mitre can only throw 65/70 pitches? Might as well let Nova start the game.
When they re-signed Griffey, I honestly didn’t think they were going to compete this year. As a player, he’s done and just there as a name…. Then they started making all of these big moves. It just didn’t make much sense. Maybe they were expecting him to retire as a Mariner.
not sure if this was already posted but…
Dontrelle Willis was scratched from the start tonight.
It will be… drumroll…
Brad Thomas
a 32yr old lefty with horrible stats (career ERA of around 10.00) – last pitched for the Red Sox in 2004.
Trevor-Don’t be ridiculous. Mitre made the team out of spring training. Besides the long reliever role he earned, he also could be the #6 starter.
No reason to pass him over for Nova.

Ugh, I read that. Luckily I’m usually asleep before then!
Don’t like facing a young, unknown lefty at all
Would have much rather faced Willis and his horrible control.
This looks like 6 IP, 2 H, 1 ER written all over it. We NEVER hit guys we have never seen…
wait who will be on Letterman?
Doreen
I agree. Congrats to Braden for the perfect game, but that still doesn’t give him the right to call Alex out over something so foolish. I guess none of the Rays could get on base to walk over his mound! And I am so glad Alex took the high road and congratulated him.
triple what!
i won’t think negatively about our pitching staff, especially Javy.
i will let the HATERS do that. some people here just love to criticize the team.
when we win a game, the HATERS want to pretend like we lost.
when we lose a game, the HATERS want to pretend we lost 2 games, not just one.
We NEVER hit guys we have never seen?
–
Except for when they do. The Yankees were like 20-8 vs gusy they never saw last year. Its mostly just you remembering the bad times and forgetting the good times.
Kay overreacting again… saying Thames is not a good OF and will cost us games if we keep playing him there. He wants Wynn to play everyday…………….
Overreacting? Thames has allowed more runs in the OF than starts made there.
What happened to Dontrelle? I’m not trying to make a joke, but he was dealing with anxiety. Physical or something else?
Kay is saying nothing new. Who even thought Thames was a good outfielder? I don’t remember hearing that.
He’s only playing so much because of the injury to Granderson. I can live with Thames out there sometimes and Winn out there sometimes. It is possible to survive until Granderson returns from the DL.
New Post: Nova called up from Scranton/WB

that whole area code thing cracked me up.
i was at fenway for sat nights game.
have never seen fenway so glum.
it was GREAT.
i think it’s dawning on a lot the fans that the red sox are really a flawed team
Brad Thomas this year
5.40 ERA, 1.86 WHIP, .328 BAA
16 IP, 22 hits, 9 walks, 6 Ks
For his career – 27 walks, 14 strikeouts
Kay is exactly right -Thames, who I like, is awful in the OF; he can’t even make the easy plays. Why Joe insists on playing him there instead of playing Winn every day is beyond me.
Betsy-If Winn plays LF everyday, his weaknesses will be exposed. There is nothing Joe can do. He will have to put Thames out there and Winn out there until Granderson returns.
No reason to “release” Thames. No reason to “call up” someone from the minors to play LF for the next 3-4 weeks.
Kay just announced Damon won’t be playing tonight
as well as Willis
