Standing around a clubhouse

Posted by: Chad Jennings - Posted in Misc on May 11, 2010 Print This Post Print This Post | Email This Post Email This Post

Everyone is just waiting at this point. The players are coming and going, none of them sure there will be a game. The writers will talk to Joe Girardi in five minutes, and probably still won’t know whether there will be a game.

So far I’ve heard four rumored scenarios:

1. The game starts on time.

2. The game starts around 9.

3. Double header tomorrow.

4. Makeup game on a shared off day this summer.

My money is on double header tomorrow.

Just trying to get an actual idea if anyone other than you reads my posts. LOL

    ??????????????????????????????????????-

Are you talking to yourself again?

    Wouldn’t be the first time…

I vote for Number 4 if they can’t get it in tonight. :)

  4. Patrick May 11th, 2010 at 5:02 pm

Doubleheaders are fun though. I kind of wish there were still scheduled doubleheaders, baseball all day how can you go wrong?

  5. Erin May 11th, 2010 at 5:02 pm

Ledger_Yankees Girardinjust looked at radar. Looked ok… but it changes all the time. I smell a split doubleheader.

Thanks! I hope it doesnt take away from the humor, but Im serious!

Joba is sort of cute, like a chubby faced kid! Joba tops out at a 6.

Jorge, you have to know him to love him. And since he’s a Yankee, he gets rated much higher than if not a Yankee. Not a Yankee, he’d top out at a 2 or 3. Since he’s a Yankee, he tops out at a 6.

Robi is downright cute/gorgeous. His gleaming radiant smile is like a picture that’s worth a thousand words! Robi tops out at an 8 or 9.

I loved last year’s Labor Day double header. It felt so American to have 9 hours of baseball while bbqing at the beach!

    2. The game starts around 9.

  9. Betsy - Hughes rules (Pleading the Fifth) May 11th, 2010 at 5:05 pm

I’d rather a rain out than that they start and not be able to finish…….I hate DHers as well, but then I don’t want to give up a precious day off in the middle of the season.

  10. Dave May 11th, 2010 at 5:05 pm

    Start the game at 9

A couple of years ago we started a game in Detroit just before 11 PM. Clemens started that game. We lost in the 12th inning on a 3-run HR off Sean Henn at around 3:30 AM.

And if my memory serves, some fans in Detroit were outraged that they cancelled the Friday night fireworks after the game

They way this board is designed, you have to actually read the posters name to determine if it’s someone you want to ignore, and due to eyeballs, you have to at least see some of the text they type. This is also due to scrolling downwards (or upwards). Please learn the difference between sight and sound before posting. Thank you.

Oh no I saw an “a” before I skimmed past your post what ever shall I do!?!

Wow, Ace is that bad? Unbelievable………..

  20. franky b May 11th, 2010 at 5:08 pm

i can’t see them playing. raining like crazy here rite now.

  21. Pat M. May 11th, 2010 at 5:08 pm

Erica, trust me, anyone with an average IQ pays attention to your nuggets of intelligent offerings…….. I once had a Poly Sci Prof who explained to us that one can only prosper by listening to a wide perspective of opinions on one singular topic…..You don’t have to necessarily agree however you’ll be enriched by listening……So with that said, for those who rag on SJ or anybody else who offers a different view, just digest what is being put out there……It’s in your best interest in the long run…….Enjoy the game

What’s wrong with the weather? Looks like things clear up and 7-11 is possible according to weather.com. *Crossing fingers*

  23. Doreen - GTLU Stuff & Photos May 11th, 2010 at 5:08 pm

Ace on the DL? Is the back worse, or are they just going to make it retroactive so they can call someone else up and not waste a roster spot for a few more days?

  24. Betsy - Hughes rules (Pleading the Fifth) May 11th, 2010 at 5:09 pm

So now we can’t bring up Miranda because we’re going to have to replace Ace with another pitcher? Oy vey

  25. Erica - always OPPC - Sesame Street Mafia and GTLU supporter May 11th, 2010 at 5:09 pm

    Heading home. Bye for now!

  26. CR9 May 11th, 2010 at 5:09 pm

I dont want our guys to have to fly to Detroit during an off day later in the summer.

If this was a home game, I’d be okay with the Tigers having to fly to play us some time later in the season.

I’d rather get the game in if it can be started at 9pm.

  27. Betsy - Hughes rules (Pleading the Fifth) May 11th, 2010 at 5:09 pm

Why don’t they just DL him now? I said in ST that this was going to be a problem…

  28. CR9 May 11th, 2010 at 5:11 pm

I dont understand either why we just dont DL him now, or DL him yesterday, and kept Romulo on the roster.

Now, we cant get Romulo back for 10 days.

Playing games with less than a 25 man roster, I dont understand.

  29. PHO May 11th, 2010 at 5:11 pm

Ugh, Ace continues to be unreliable.

Just end the reliever experiment with him. What good is he if he can’t stay healthy and hurts his back every other week?

This has happened multiple times and it’s a chronic condition with him and he can’t be counted…

My child has a concert tonight it ends at 8.. So I dont want to miss first pitch 9 would be awesome

  33. Patrick May 11th, 2010 at 5:13 pm

    Betsy,

They already have 13 pitchers on the roster so if they do DL Ace we can call up Miranda just fine.

  34. Yank 82 May 11th, 2010 at 5:13 pm

Wow, this roster has been shuffled a lot in the past 10 days. Grandy on the DL, NJ on the DL, Aceves on the DL, Golson up, Golson down, Melancon up, Melancon down. Sanchez up, Sanchez down. Nova up. Russo Up. Miranda up.

  35. Bronx Jeers May 11th, 2010 at 5:13 pm

    Standing around the clubhouse
With an iphone in my hand
    Staring at the clock
    Listening to a band
    Staring down the lineup
And the tarp on the ground
I can see Joe his open mouth
    But I hear no sound

    I’m alive
    I’m dead
    I’m the writer
    Killing an arab

  36. Warning Track Power May 11th, 2010 at 5:14 pm

    CR9
I believe that Ro could be called up before the 10 days if
a player is placed on the DL

Not 100% sure, but I believe that is the rule.

  37. GreenBeret7 May 11th, 2010 at 5:15 pm

The rain hasn’t even cleared Ann Arbor and Jackson, yet and that’s 70 west of Detroit. If the game starts, it will be at least 8:30 or 9:00 PM. The rain hasn’t stalled over Detroit, but, the movement towards the northeast has slowed.

Love how u r all meterologists

  39. Michelle May 11th, 2010 at 5:19 pm

They should just put Ace on the DL today. He obviously wouldn’t be available for a couple of days no matter what. It makes the bullpen very short. Good thing they have Nova who could throw 100 pitches since who knows what to expect of Vazquez tonight.

  40. bronxbombers21 May 11th, 2010 at 5:19 pm

Weather.com says rain is suppost to stop by 7pm..I seem them starting by 830 or 9

  41. E-gawa May 11th, 2010 at 5:22 pm

They have a few mutual days off. June 7th looks like an ideal makeup day.

Have you heard of the internet? Nice place that allows you to look up things such as weather patterns. Please do some research.

  43. Steve May 11th, 2010 at 5:58 pm

If a temporary solution is available for the back of Aceves then great. If an operation is needed do it sooner than later.

  44. MaineYankee May 12th, 2010 at 1:50 pm
