After fighting for a rotation job this spring, Phil Hughes has been one of the most dominant pitchers in baseball. He leads American League starters with a 1.38 ERA and tonight he became the first Yankees starter to reach five wins, getting  an 8-0 victory that snapped the team’s three-game losing streak. The game was a tight one until a six-run ninth, and Hughes pitched out of jams to keep the early lead intact. Greg Golson had his first major league hit and Mariano Rivera pitched for the first time this month.
