Lineup for Boston series opener
Derek Jeter SS
Brett Gardner CF
Mark Teixeira 1B
Alex Rodriguez DH
Robinson Cano 2B
Francisco Cervelli C
Marcus Thames RF
Randy Winn LF
Ramiro Pena 3B
RHP Phil Hughes
Ivan Nova is no longer listed as an available pitcher. Looks like he was sent down for Chan Ho Park.

Why on earth is Posada not playing in that lineup?
No Swisher makes me sad
Early June is right for Grandy.
I think once his bicep is fully healthy Swisher makes the most sense to move up and get the bulk of the ABs out of the 2-hole full time. Gardner I don’t know that he can keep up his early season OBP, even though I know it was always a skill for him in the minors. Swisher is proven there, and he could do more damage getting fastballs to hit in front of Mark and Al. Plus putting Gardy back down in the 9 slot lengthens the lineup and gives you the 2 leadoff hitters effect that Girardi seems to like.
Wow, that is a horrendous bottom of the order. I hope Phil is on.
Look at Cisco batting behind Cano!
I didn’t win-I thought sure Cervelli would catch CC tomorrow. I did think about Alex as DH, but didn’t go with it.
is Jorge injured? the last thing we need is another injury on this team
6 hole hitter Francisco Cervelli
Wondering why no Posada today with rain in the forecast for tomorrow? Perplexing to me.
No Posada again?
Thames AND Winn together in the OF?
Boston +185 looks like a solid wager right about now. Would consider playing it if Dice-K wasn’t the opposing pitcher.
And I lose once again in GTLU. The bloom is obviously off the rose. lol.
this looks like a spring training lineup, but the yankees always prevail.
Interesting, no Posada or Miranda.
Oh my god
Please tell me this is an Aprils fools joke.
Oh no! We’ll never win with this line up! What ever shall we do!
This lineup by Girardi is borderline insane.
You need to have Posada in the lineup.
We are missing Swisher, Granderson, Johnson, and Posada. That’s all our bottom half of the lineup (if you consider gardner our new #2).
Horrible lineup. You need Posada in there, especially with Swisher out. I don’t understand this decision, but maybe he’ll explain it at some point and there’s a good reason behind it.
Wonder what the over/under on walks to Teixeira and A-Rod tonight is? I’m setting the line at 4.5 walks combined. No way is Gyro Ball fooling around with those 2 guys when he sees what the bottom of the lineup looks like.
Looks like Joe wins again.
Dice-K is licking his chops
No Jorge (who is one of our few hitters who has good #s vs. Dice-K) or Swisher.
So much for working the count. The guy is going to pitch 7 scoreless on 70 pitches with all those hackers in the lineup. 6-10 are blackholes. The bottom 3 should not even be in the major leagues.
Erica
If you need your memory refreshed just push F5.
Too bad about Posada. He has great numbers against Dice’K. Yeah Cervelli batting behind Cano is interesting.
people-if Jorge is injured or still nursing that sore calf, he won’t be in the line-up today.
its’ that simiple.
obviously something is wrong with him.
we have so many injuries right now, this line-up is the best we can do today.
Repost:
Rotate Jorge, Juan, & Marcus.
Doreen,
I think that GGBG is better in front of Jeter (avoiding the DP, less jumping bean action in front of the 3/4 hitters.) And Swisher seems to be able to hit anywhere.
Until Granderson comes back though, I like Swisher hitting in the 6/7 spot.

Nobody got this lineup. No way, no how. I would rather see Golson rather than Thames, but otherwise, “Go Yankees!”

LOL. I totally just hit F5
I never knew that doubles as a refresh button. GTK (Good to know
)
I wonder if that ball off Jorge’s foot yesterday is hurting him more than the Yanks are letting on?
So Girardi flips the rotation around because he felt he had to win games against the Red Sox.
And this is the lineup he puts out? Might as well have pitched Vazquez if you are putting a ST lineup out there anyway. Not going to win games with this lineup – a brilliant performance by Hughes will go to waste.
This lineup is terrible. Why are Jeter and A-rod getting DH’d so much lately?
This is where Ramiro Pena gets exposed, when he plays every game
What the crap is this lineup!!!! We have a chance to burry the Sox in this two game series and this is what we trot out there??? You gotta be kidding me!
Thames is fine in RF at the stadium. Not much ground to cover out there.
Groan!
There are no winners in today’s GTLU.
Aside from the fact that no one guessed ARod was going to DH today, even the people who thought Cervelli was catching didn’t have him batting 6th!!!
:shakes head:
Joe is losing his mind….
Why in the hell is ARod DH-ing tonight and Pena playing?
ARod should be in the field and Miranda should be DH-ing….he has a habit of not using the call ups when they are clearly going to be around for awhile.
Miranda should be given as many regular abs vs. righties as he can especially with No Grandy no Posada and no Swish.
wave-well said.
i think people here are more intelligent, but they refuse to prove me wrong.
there was a ball that bounced off Jorge’s foot.
does anything truly believe Joe would keep Jorge out of the line-up if Jorge
was 100% healthy?
stop the madness

**************************
That was my first thought too.
What do ya know? Phil getting an ace’s lineup.
Joe is obviously putting the “Cervelli catching = instant win” theory to the test here.
Very disappointed that Posada is not catching; I’m surprised that Joe does not want the veteran working with the kid, which is what I would prefer
Hughes has to be steaming right now as he goes through his pregame warm ups.
His manager set him up to fail. Even if we have a 1-0 or 2-1 lead, anyone think the pen will hold it? I don’t think so.
Swish and Georgie must still be hurting. Thames probably has good numbers against Dice-K.
That is a bad lineup, I’m sorry.
So Posada at DH would be a good idea today, eh?
That’s why I say, get a 3rd catcher, and go with a Switcher named Posada at DH.
Who knows what’s going on with Jorge and Swisher?
The more you catch Posada , oh well…
I?m surprised that Joe does not want the veteran working with the kid, which is what I would prefer
–
Well you know what they say, Betsy: And a child will lead them…
I suspect Girardi is aware of some things that we are not.
Joe knows he’s not managing at Scranton right?
No Po?
“Wonder what the over/under on walks to Teixeira and A-Rod tonight is? I’m setting the line at 4.5 walks combined.”
It’ll be interesting. He got a public dressing down from Farrell in the 1st innning against the Angels at Fenway 10 days ago and hasn’t walked a guy since (43 batters). Seems like they’re telling him “if you get beat by throwing strikes, fine, but don’t give anything away”. I hope he throws strikes. Makes for a quicker game.
Wave Your Hat May 17th, 2010 at 3:45 pm
I wonder if that ball off Jorge?s foot yesterday is hurting him more than the Yanks are letting on?
You are probably right. That seemed to really hurt & it is probably sore & swollen today. Perhaps he’s available to pinch hit. Joe probably thought it would be good to give him an extra day of rest.
Joe really seems to want to DH Jeter and ARod as often as possible. I still think there needs to be some consistency. No matter, we will still beat down the Sux.
Girardi knows more about the health of his starters than we do, obviously if Swish and Po were available, they would be playing.
Winn and Pena have absolutely no shot against Dice-K and his funky delivery.
Dice-K can trust his stuff tonight, he doesn’t have to worry about getting into any deep counts. He has 4 easy outs at the bottom of the lineup, plus a slumping Jeter and Cano, and Gardner who has cooled off.
Tex/ARod are running hot and cold too.
Basically, Dice-K has nothing to worry about tonight if he throws strikes. Not one single hitter in the lineup is hot.
2 things take this lineup from BAD to “Yankees Average”
Replace cervelli with Posada, replace Pena with Miranda.
Posada’s foot must be aching, agree with other posters on that, but why DH A-rod?
WHAT THE HECK! *** THIS IS CRAZY! *** INSANE! *** OH MY! *** ARE WE PLAYING BOSTON???? THE RED SOX??? HAVE WE CLINCHED THE DEVISION???? THIS LINEUP IS INSANE!!! INSANE!!! INSANE!!!

Cervelli works fine with Posada. I don’t think that’s much of an issue. Posada’s bat out of the lineup is. He kills Dice’K.
This is honestly the worst lineup of the year. Why in God’s name is Pena playing so much? Does Derek and A-rod really need this many days at DH? And what is going on with Posada? Is he hurt? Starting friday his schedule has been: bench, DH, C, bench
Even though he’s crushing the ball he must be hurt. Or Girardi is out of his freaking mind
Any chance for rain tonight?
While i am not enamored with the lineup i love how people call it a AAA lineup. What sort of AAA lineup had Jeter, Tex, Arod and Cano?
Didn’t Arod DH a few days ago?
Thames has 3 ABs vs Matsuzaka, 1 for 3 with a HR. he has to play though, because Swisher is injured and can’t swing lefty.

Girardi is trying to keep Posada from playing three straight games.

================================================================
This is a negative post but I got to agree. Miranda should be in there unless he is not a good matchup for Dice-K…
Girardi sure loves his Cervelli!
I am surprised that Miranda is sitting and Pena playing; if I was a Miranda believer I’m not sure that’s what I’d do. I wonder if Joe is worried about ARod’s health too?
The bottom 3 of the lineup is hack city.
I’m not one to complain about lineups, but how does Joe expect to score any runs? Dice-K has very good stuff, his problem is his control. When he has so many easy outs and free swingers in the lineup, that works to Dice-K’s advantage. Look at what Dice-K does to free-swinging lineups vs. patient ones in his career.
He basically set up Hughes to fail and Dice-K to succeed. Hughes has no run support and Dice-K has the type of lineup with no patience that he can dominate.
Can’t wait for the Grand Am to re-join the lineup. Hopefully back sooner than early June.
Patrick, it has to be the latter. I don’t want to hear people whining about people complaining about this lineup; this is beyond awful……….Phil has to pitch a negative shut out to win. Forget that – the Sox must be licking their lips. Holy cow……..

This is Phil?s most recent interview with Kim that will air tonight. I can not believe she asked him about opposing players (the O?s) saying his FB was straight and whether that?s the biggest change in him since. Um, he was pitching with a broken rib in April 2008???..that might account for his lack of stuff.
Not catching 3 straight games, fine, but not PLAYING 3 straight games?
\o/ Paniccccc
Didn’t realize Posada fouled one off his foot. For a catcher the legs are everything so it makes sense to give him a day if that was the case & it got swollen, etc. Swisher’s situation just seems like it needs time for the soreness to die down. Hopefully by the weekend he will be back to hitting left handed. The one head-scratcher now, for me, is Pena starting at 3rd and Alex DHing. I understand he’s getting longer in the tooth and has the hip thing and all, but I hate the increase in ABs for Pena just because hitting is his weakest skill.
There’s another reason, Girardi.
Guys are hurt, it’s all hands on deck. You can baby these players when Swisher and Granderson are back.
Pena might be the worst hitter I have ever seen. No power, no patience, has no approach.
Winn isin’t too far behind.
Thames against righties is also one of the worst players in baseball.
So in reality, we have 3 of the worst hitters in baseball in the lineup tonight
He basically set up Hughes to fail and Dice-K to succeed. Hughes has no run support and Dice-K has the type of lineup with no patience that he can dominate.
___
if we cant get runs from jeter, gardner, tex, alex and robbie, then we have bigger problems than the bottom three.
If Pena has to play this much I’d call up Nunez and see what he can do instead.
Trevor, I know Phil works fine with Frankie, but not as well as Posada. It was Eiland who had to come out and talk to Phil about not overdoing it with the cutter. I prefer Jorge there…….sheesh.
It’s disappointing that the Yankees are missing Johnson, Swisher, and Posada against a pitcher who gets into a lot of deep counts.
I don’t so much care if Dice-K doesn’t give up many runs, but I will be disappointed if he reaches the 7th inning. Hopefully Posada and Swisher are available off the bench at least.

Agree Andrew. Makes wonder whether Girardi and Co see something in the way he’s moving around at the hot corner.
I can’t believe Joe didn’t want my lineup from GTLU!! LOL!
Thames took some good cuts yesterday against a RHP. He does have 1 hit against Dice-K in 3 ABs I think. We know Swish still can’t bat RH yet until his arm gets better. I thought Miranda would DH instead of ARod.
These are the RED SOX, not the Royals.
We need our “A” lineup out there against the Red Sox. Does Joe want them to inch to within 3 games of us after they leave town? Sure seems like it.
Hughes has to be feeling like if he gives up a run, that might be the ball game. Kind of like how Matt Cain must have felt every start of his career….
So he skips Vasquez to get our best pitchers against the Sox (and Rays) and then puts out this crap lineup? For a few days, Jorge can survive………That is BS

If Girardi was planning on DHing A-rod and Jeter this much why didn’t the Yankees sign a utility infielder that can actually hit?
I’ve said it in the past, I’ll say it again. The Yankees didn’t win in 2009 because of Girardi, they won despite him.
Catch Jorge tonight and DH him tomorrow then………..

PETE ABE JUST WROTE ON TWITTER THAT JOSH BECKET IS PITCHING TONIGHT!
I’m really not looking forward to this game after seeing this lineup.
I’ll probably make plans for tonight. This has frustrating game written all over it – barely any baserunners and no clutch hits. Maybe no runs for us, either.
If the Sox don’t win this game, they should go home. You could not have made it easier for Matsuzaka.
“if we cant get runs from jeter, gardner, tex, alex and robbie, then we have bigger problems than the bottom three.”
It’s not easy to score runs with a lineup 5 deep. If Jeter and Gardner make outs, Dice-K can pitch around Tex and Arod to get to Cano, who has been slumping lately. This lineup is very easy to work around IF the bottom guys don’t do anything.
My bet is that Posada is hurt more then they are letting on.
I also think that the news on Johnson is marginally related – if he has the surgery they can put him on the 60 day DL, opening up a spot on the 40 man for another catcher.
if beckett is going tonight, maybe that explains keeping posada and swish out. Already hurt, doesnt need them getting beaned also.
Patrick-Take a breathe and relax.
The Yankees signed Johnson in the off-season to fill a need. The need was not at the utility infielder position.
Would you be happier today if Miguel Cairo was sitting on the bench?
These injuries nobody could have predicted.
Now that these events have transpired, Joe will do the best he can until everybody gets healthy.
Nick Johnson is a loser
with Dice-BB going tonight the Yankees should win
But with this line-up not so much
Posada is hurting from the foul ball he took yesterday.
That, and Girardi’s hesitation toward playing him more than 3 days in a row probably played into the decision.
The last 3 of Hughes’ starts the lineup posts have been filled with “Hughes will have to pitch a shutout to win. The Yankees scored 12, 10 and 8 runs.
Jorge, Swisher and Granderson are hurt. That’s a third of the lineup. That impacts what Girardi can do.
Poor Phil…….Ugh, playing 3 days is too much for Jorge? DL the guy…….
I would like to see how Miranda can do in the bigs.
To his credit, as injury-prone as Johnson may be, he’s no Pavano. That dude was ‘special’.
weak Yankee Lineup.
Pena can play. Why are people getting on him? His bat isn’t the best but he’s not terrible and his defense is really good. Winn and Pena got hits yesterday in the 9th, Winn provided 2 of the 3 runs in yesterday’s game, but they still get criticized. Tough crowd.
Plus its Matsuzaka pitching. He’s an average pitcher.
Budget ceiling, remember?

Complete bull crap if you ask me. Thames, Park, Winn = almost $4 million if you account for performance bonuses.

Girardi didn’t sign the players Patrick. If the yanks need to they can go out get jerry hairston again… or someone like him (Ty Wiggington maybe?)
Yanks are fine… they are the second best team in baseball and have had a much tougher schedule so far than the rays…. the back up infielder that you want and did not name… wont make or break the yankees… Relax…
BloggingBombers Nick Johnson confirms he will have surgery on his right wrist.
Hey Cashman – go out and address the bench please. Everybody on the bench is an automatic out. Even Cervelli has really cooled off lately
Pena & Cervelli have played well enough lately to play some to rest some guys. This is almost like a slap at RSox saying our big guys need to rest for Tampa! LOL! I know it isn’t true, but it is kind of funny.
BloggingBombers Nick Johnson confirms he will have surgery on his right wrist.
Would you be happier today if Miguel Cairo was sitting on the bench?
—
No, because Miguel Cairo is terrible.
How long is this thing with Jorge not playing 3 days in a row going to last?
To score with a 5 deep lineup you basically need:
1. Players to string together 3+ consecutive singles
2. Power hits at the right time (for example, a single followed by a long double, a double for a player with a single hit that can score the runner)
3. Home runs
Not pleased with this lineup. This is a real test for Hughes, he has to pick up the lineup (and hopefully the lineup responds with some timely hitting)
well now it seems like Beckett is going tonight, according to PeteATEmanysandwiches
Girardi didn’t sign the players Patrick
—
Wow thanks for the revelation chief
Betsy the whole “Posada should suck it up” thought process is what leads to him breaking down in the dog days when the team is actually playing “big” games. That’s the time of year that they need Posada in the lineup the most, there is no reason to rush him through minor injuries in May when the team continues to win despite him being banged up. Keep him fresh now and reap the benefits later in the year when he hasn’t logged a ton of mileage early in the season. Especially since Cervelli has actually been good
NICK JHONSON WILL HAVE SURGERY ON HIS RIGHT WRIST! THIS JUST REPORTED BY BLOGING THE BOMBERS OF THE DAILY NEWS
This lineup tonight is so funny that not even SJ44 is around to pound on the usual lineup panic around here …
LOL
And we all completely missed the fact that Nova is not on the list of available players.
Swisher can’t bat right handed against Dice-K?
This is going to be a rocking chair, 2 hour game that the Sox win 2-0.
Similar to the Detroit Porcello/Javy game.
Doreen,
I’m with you on flipping Gardner and Jeter. With the news that Nick is going to be out for awhile, I think Jeter is the better #2 hitter for this lineup with Bret leading off.
As it stands, the lineup is short a #2 hitter. Gardner doesn’t fit there because hitting in front of the boppers hinders his running game a bit.
Pena can play. Why are people getting on him? His bat isn?t the best but he?s not terrible and his defense is really good
–
Sorry, but his bat is terrible. Absolutely terrible. It was terrible in the minors, and it was bad last year, and is worse this year. The saving grace from last year was that he hit an empty .280.
Pena’s defining value point is versatility on defense. The problem is when he gets more than 3 starts a month.
cervelli cooled off? .393 is cooled off? I’ll take it!
Betsy,
You are setting a world record for whining today. Calm down.
Not every injury requires a DL stay.
Plus, the Yankees are not 40 man deep with players they can plug in at a whim.
Phil Hughes will survive the lineup.
I don’t think he is in a panic about it.
How long is this thing with Jorge not playing 3 days in a row going to last?
—
Pretty sure he played Saturday and Sunday…
I’m assuming that Joe is fielding the best lineup he can, which tells me that Jorge and Swisher are hurting and ARod is fragile. But I’d at least call up Nunez and give him a shot, he might be able to hit a little.
Ok, so I am presuming that Posada is a bit hurt. Fine. Swish is clearly not 100%. Fine. Is A-Rod hurt to though? If not, this is inexplicable. Especially with Swish and Jorge out, I think you really should put A-Rod at third and DH Miranda. I just don’t get it.

Yankees win 6-3.
Andrew, I wasn’t asking Jorge to suck it up – I’m serious. If he can’t play 3 days in a row (whether DH or catcher), then he’s clearly not well. That’s why I said DL him……
For someone that knows, can Nunez play 2nd, SS and 3rd? If no, then even more reason
to keep Pena for a little bit longer.
This also shows how strong the Sox bench is compared to ours. Give me McDonald, Hermedia, Hall, and Varitek over ANYONE on our bench as a hitter. If you haven’t noticed, the first 3 guys listed have been getting the bulk of the Sox RBIs during the past month, they have carried them.
Our bench is so weak, full of automatic outs. Sad we went from Hinske/Hairston to this garbage.
What a horrible lineup. Why cant Posada DH?
Wave Your Hat why not have just kept Russo on the roster? Russo has more versatility (even though he can’t play short as well as Pena at all) and his bat is probably capable of providing more than Pena.
BryanHoch Nick Johnson confirms he will be having surgery, probably tomorrow. Says it’s frustrating but expects to be back in 2010

You want to lose him for a long time? Look at 2008 before you start worrying that Hughes won’t have the best line-up to back him up. Jeez.
Message to all the people here complaining about the line-up, why not post the line-up you would use if you were the Yankees manager
Please do that so some of us can pick that line-up apart.
Wave,
Bingo. For Swisher and Jorge not to be in this lineup doesn’t feel like a coaches choice sort of thing. There’s a reason. They’re banged up and Girardi wants healthy guys out there tonight.
Not to mention that Dice K will most likely only go 5 innings and walk the ball park without giving up too many hits.
He can mix and match the rest of the game after Dice K goes out and give Francona something to think about when he inevitably goes to the pen.
Let’s say Miranda works out fine as Johnson’s replacement at DH and Granderson comes back healthy ….
Johnson hadn’t yet started getting into a groove when he got hurt (no doubt he would have eventually) and now Tiexeira’s pretty much out of his routine slow start. Miranda and Teixiera hitting well would sorta be like adding 2 big bats since the first few weeks of the season, when the team was already doing pretty well w/o them.
Brett Gardner’s showing the .300+ average and improved OBP may not be so much of fluke too. As long as no other key injuries show up, that’ll be a lineup for purgatory for opposing pitchers.
Well this here has loss written all over it.
SJ44,
If you don’t see the massive flaws in this lineup I don’t know what to say. Why are A-rod and Jeter DHing this much? Dumb.
Why is Posada catching one out of every four games? Really really dumb.
I see no reason why this can’t be the lineup:
Jeter SS
Gardner CF
Teixeira 1B
Rodriguez 3B
Cano 2B
Posada C
Miranda DH
Thames RF
Winn LF
Betsy,
That video is from before the Detroit start?
I’ve read and listened to many of Hughes’ comments in recent years and he doesn’t seem to get fazed by much. I’m sure he’ll go out and do his job the best he can, limit Boston’s runs and keep the NYY in the game. He said as much after his recent start vs Boston when Beckett Kd 5 of the first 6 hitters. He knew it was going to be a tough night, but he rose to the challenge. I think he’ll throw another good game tonight. It’s up to the offesnse to scratch for some runs.
Plead the Fifth … please!

Cool then go be a sox fan. Give me Jeter/Gardner/Tex/ARod/Cano/Posada/Granderson/Swisher/and our starting pitching over theirs.
Fortunately, the bench is not the end off of the first 2 months of the season.
Betsy there has been no indication that he physically can’t play 3 days in a row. It was Girardi who pointed to the fact that he came up with the sore calf after playing 3 straight days, and it has been Girardi who has stayed away from doing that (playing him 3 straight games) since that injury, and has pointed to that as the reason for doing so. Add into the equation the fact that he took a foul ball off the foot yesterday and you have a pretty solid case for why he is off tonight.
As usual, SJ44 tells it as it is.
Sad that you folks need him to calm you guys down or else you guys are in complete panic.
You could learn a thing or two from Mr. SJ. Panicking and whining does you know good.
end all..

Book it!
Actually, I am around.
Reading comprehension. Try it sometime.
Johnson and Granderson are on the DL.
Swisher and Posada are banged up.
What can Girardi do about that tonight?
There is no trade market on May 17 so, they are shorthanded.
You deal with it because there are no other options tonight.
Well, thank you for that little scold and that little lecture, SJ; I will be sure to take it under advisement…….maybe. Are you kidding me? You keep telling me to calm down everytime I express an ounce of concern, but this one takes the cake.

and if the Yanks believed in Miranda, he would be in the lineup. 2 days in a row now against righties that he is missing.
Patrick, and he’s not playing today.
SJ did not tell it like it is, but then it’s easy when you’re not on the other end of it. Odd that I get less problems from trolls.
Girardi didn’t sign the players Patrick

Wow thanks for the revelation chief
Then why are you chastising girardi for the Players on the bench? Are you 14 years old?
If Posada can only catch 1 out of every 4 games he should be on the DL, period. This is getting ridiculous
Plead the Fifth … please!
Message to all the people here complaining about the line-up, why not post the line-up you would use if you were the Yankees manager
Please do that so some of us can pick that line-up apart.

Assuming A-rod is only getting a breather and isn’t really injured
Jeter SS Gardner CF Tex 1B Arod 3B Cano 2B Miranda DH Cervelli C Thames RF Winn LF
Now if Posada is just getting sat because of the calf and not the foot, tomorrow:
Jeter SS Gardner CF Tex 1B Arod DH Cano 2B Posada C Thames RF Winn LF Pena 3B
Then next day
Jeter SS Gardner CF Tex 1B Arod 3B Cano 2B Posada C Miranda DH Thames RF Winn LF
if Swisher isn’t back.
I dunno, we don’t have all the information.
did we figure out why Pete Abe is saying Beckett is pitching tonight and not DiceK?
Stupid FOOT. This team is super snakebit. The fact they are winning so much is a testament to their true yankeeness
BryanHoch Posada is out of lineup after taking foul ball off right foot. X rays taken, no break, day to day.

Didn?t Arod DH a few days ago?
___________________________
According to Baseball-Reference, A-Rod started at DH on APR 24 @ LAA and May 12 vs. DET (1st game of the DH). Including tonight’s game, A-Rod and Jeter will each have made 3 starts at DH.
Patrick,
Posada took a shot off his leg yesterday.
One would think he’s hurting enough to keep him out tonight.
I doubt Joe Girardi would rather have Cervelli hitting sixth tonight instead of Posada.
Please dont attack Betsy. She is just concerned about Jorge. That’s all.
Betsy
Jorge is fine. Or as fine as a 38 year old catcher who’s been starting 120+ games for over a decade can be.
He’s nicked up, and the abuse that a catcher goes through takes its toll.
If this were a playoff game, Jorge would be in the starting lineup.

who cares about Pete Abe and the red sox.
“Betsy,
You are setting a world record for whining today. Calm down. ”
If I had made this comment I would have gotten destroyed by the blog police.
Let’s see how people react when the most respected poster on the blog speaks what is the obvious truth.
New Post: Johnson confirms surgery

ell since you aren’t joe girardi, your opinion means nada. I seriously doubt Joe woke up and said, well why dont i put a less than stellar lineup today without a reason.

Just because my opinion means nothing doesn’t mean I’m wrong.

I didn’t think I’d have to spell this out but apparently you aren’t very clever. Cashman and Giradri work together on forming a roster. It’s not like Cash puts the team together and drops it in Girardi’s lap. Joe has some input on the construction of the team. My point is that if Cashman and Girardi decided they were going to DH Jeter and Alex once a week, every week why didn’t they get a utility guy that could actually handle the bat? Pena is terrible at the plate.
I remember in the off season, the Yankees stressed they wanted a regular DH and didn’t want to have a rotating system. I don’t know why Miranda and Thames are not holding that role now, or at least when Swisher is available. I do hate to see Pena get this many at bats. Assuming everyone else not playing is hurt or otherwise unavailable, I would prefer ARod at third at Miranda at DH. Of course, there is often more to the story than we know.

Well, thank you for that little scold and that little lecture, SJ; I will be sure to take it under advisement…….maybe. Are you kidding me? You keep telling me to calm down everytime I express an ounce of concern, but this one takes the cake.
=========================================
SJ…In my humble opinion you should not waste your time on Betsy anymore.
You have talked her off the ledge(unless it’s all an act) so many times, now she rebels against you.
looked at Petes twitter, he says he made a mistake, still Dice BB for tonight.
Wow, so much panic in here…we’re talking about the 19-19 Red Sox, god you’d thin we were talking about facing a much better team tonight. relax everyone, people are banged up and its just what it has to be. Complain somewhere else.
OK, I’ll say it: are baseball players pussies?
