Russo added

Still waiting for the Yankees to post a lineup, but Kevin Russo is listed as an available hitter.

Nick Swisher is taking full batting practice for the first time in a while. We should know more about his status afterward.

Mark Teixeira was among the players taking early BP this afternoon.

Russo was absolutely the right callup. He’s versatile and that’s what we need. Pena and Russo give us a lot of flexibility and Russo has shown he can at least hit some.

    Great move.

Problem is, we don’t want to push Andy still coming off the elbow “injury”, but the pen is absolutely brutal.

Erica, yeah Thurs night is crazy for good tele.

I usually watch Fringe late after the Yankees are done or Fri sometime.

    A Dawson Creek fan huh?

I was a Pacey fan way more than Dawson. Michelle Williams out of all them has become a very fine actress, she is really good in her indy films.

Oh and speaking of tv, tonight is the season finale of Community, I believe it is Prom time, I can?t wait to see what they do with that.
    ****************

I have every season of the Creek on DVD. My Wednesday nights felt empty for years about that show.

And everyone liked Pacey more than Dawson.

Although my dad had the funniest line after the series finale-
“How could Joey choose Pacey over Dawson??? It’s his Creek!!”

NBC and ABC Thursdays have priority. Fringe has to get watched online

They are probably going to play Russo in the OF.

I’m guessing his ability to play both the INF and OF, and the fact he’s a better hitter, gave him the nod over Golston.

Melancon will probably be the guy to be sent down since he threw 37 pitches yesterday and they need to get down to 12 pitchers.

    repost:

Russo has played a grand total of 13 games in the OF in his professional career. Considering that we are short one real outfielder it either means Swisher can play or there is still another move (or the Yanks are making a move I don’t agree with).

I don’t think you can be a decent major league outfielder in 13 games and some practice, too many weird things happen, you need experience.

If the Yanks are going to start Russo or Pena in the outfield it is asking for trouble IMO.

Russo is a better hitter than Golston and is more versatile. That’s probably why they made the move.

It also must mean Swisher is good to go.

Having a guy who can play both the INF and OF, and can swing the bat, will be helpful right now.

We are going to the NL park tomorrow. We need good pinch hitters. Russo is a better pinch hitter than Golson, Winn, Pena, or Moller.

They aren’t starting Russo in the OF. If they are, chances are pretty strong he’s a better defensive OF than Marcus Thames.

He just has to make basic plays in the minimum amount of time he’s out there.

That’s if he is starting at all.

  70. RayVT May 20th, 2010 at 4:05 pm

    Mike May 20th, 2010 at 4:01 pm

You are right Mike. I believe it is more like 13 Games! LOL! A good infielder can make the transistion to OF much easier than the reverse. Most great CF started as SS. Russo will do fine in the OF. His bat could help as well.

If Swish is good to go, then Russo makes sense; I’m crossing my fingers and toes.

  77. DT May 20th, 2010 at 4:06 pm

    Hey SJ,

It’s Golson. Golston (or Gholston) is the hideous DE the Jets drafted who has done nothing in the NFL. Golson is the OF’er.

  82. Wave Your Hat May 20th, 2010 at 4:07 pm

Hello, Thames can’t start. And you guys will love Russo in the OF until he misreads a fly ball and it goes for a triple in the corner, after which you all will hate him as an OF.

As I speculated earlier, this probably means Swisher is starting tonight and Russo has been called up to be the back-up INF because Pena is starting and Jeter is DHing or something wierd like that.

I still say call up Huffman for Logan, then you have pinch hitters and flexibility both.

Any professional baseball player that’s reasonably athletic can play a corner OF spot. It’s not that difficult to pick up quickly

    Actually,

I love Diane Lane. She’s sexy and seems approachable and vulnerable. Like her a lot.

Actually, it’s a good list with the exception of Demi Moore and Sharon Stone and maybe Kim Cattrall.

    :)

Girardi fell in love with Boone Logan when he hit 97 mph. You dont find many lefties that throw that hard. But the problem with him is his command is awful. He is not a reilable reliever because you do not know if he will throw strikes.”

    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

A reliever that can’t throw strikes is useless to a ballclub

look at what Joba did the other night after falling behind every batter

That is why Bruney got DFA’d by the Nationals, he walked a small village

Any reliever that cannot throw strikes is not worth having.

7 runs in the bottom of the 9th to win it in a walkoff. That’s what I call rising from the ashes.”

Amazing how pathetic relief pitching is in MLB

the Phillies have Jose Contreras closing for them and he managed to somehow work out of a 1st and 3rd no outs in the 9th after putting the 2 men on with a 1 run lead.

    The Moeller move is dumb.

Yankees will have to go with 11 pitchers not 12.But we all know that the genius likes to mix and match
