Swisher in the lineup
Joe Girardi needs to see Nick Swisher take batting practice before setting the lineup, but right now the plan is for Swisher to start in the outfield.
Five roster moves:
Mark Melancon to Scranton.
Jorge Posada to the DL.
Chad Moeller contract purchased.
Kevin Russo recalled.
Nick Johnson to 60-day DL.
Russo was called instead of Greg Golson because of Russo’s versatility. Russo has been playing a lot of outfield in Triple-A.

Since both Melancon and Logan stink, why not keep the guy who stinks, but throws left handed?
If you want to stay on the roster, you don’t give up 5 hits and 3 runs in 2 innings in mop up duty. On the heels of giving up a 3-R HR to Konerko in garbage time 2 weeks ago.
You can’t say that Melancon didn’t get a fair shot… Not.
And Logan remains!
That was a tease!!!!!
There is no line up

Since I have never seen Betsy, Erin, Erica or some others I couldn?t add them. But I did add Trisha & Doreen! (Neither one looks 40!)

Logan stinks far worse than Melancon.
Boone Logan must have gotten the Girardi pictures from Cody Ransom.
how is logan still here? please ask Joe?
lol @ the Reds
Gave up 7 runs in the bottom of the 9th to lose the game they were leading by 6.
Erin and Erica are under 30. Or Erica is for sure
Keeping Logan instead of Melancon is ridiculous
I want Demi Moore off the list.

Are you insane? She is absurdly hot. Should probably be #1 on the list
I like Russo glad to see he is back. I still think he is a better player right now than Randy Winn.

I am under 30 for now….. that sadly will be changing this year
Not handling the thought well….
Erica – it is SO not a big deal. enjoy it
Boone Logan has naked pictures of Hal Steinbrenner
I am no fan of Melancon, but he has a better chance of being good than Logan……..
Yanks clearly are not as high on Melancon as the fans here.
Those minor league numbers only go so far….
Melancon threw 37 pitches and would be unavailable today.
Bad as Logan is, he could pitch today.
They needed a position player and one less pitcher.
That’s why Melancon is the odd guy out.
As bad as Logan is, to send him down to keep a guy who isn’t available tonight, shortens your when it doesn’t need any more shortening.
I am probably late to the party, but I don’t see why Montero can’t be brought up to be the DH and back-up catcher. Moeller is horrible.
Montero could give the team a lift the way that Cano did a few years ago. I don’t care if he is not hitting in the minors. Some guys react very well to the challenge of being brought up to the big leagues. Look at Cervelli. He couldn’t hit a lick in the minors and he has been a very good hitter in the big leagues.
Bring up Montero. Give the kid a shot.
Melancon is a bust.

Bad as Logan is, he could pitch today.
–
But why would you pitch him today? Logan didn’t do his job last night and got pulled, but its Melancon that gets sent down??
If the choice is Logan or Melancon, I’ll take Melancon every day and twice on Sundays.
Bad as Logan is, he could pitch today

You say this like it’s a good thing. I don’t want him to pitch tonight!
Uncle Ellsworth,

“As bad as Logan is, to send him down to keep a guy who isn’t available tonight, shortens your when it doesn’t need any more shortening.”
I have to disagree. Given the current situation, a roster with 11 pitchers makes sense. Teams carried 9 or 10 pitchers for a hundred years, we could carry 11 for a few days. Losing Logan hurts much less than not having the extra outfielder.
Feinsand will be on with Mike shortly
Melancon, Robertson & Logan are all terrible.
When does Royce Ring get a shot?
If you really want to be selective, see “top 50 women over 50″.
Hint: Helen Mirren tops this list, and she’s like 63.

swisher in the lineup. only without grandy and jorge really.. johnson is a dream……
How many more options does Melancon have?
Logan pitched last night too, but I guess he didn’t throw as many pitches? And what’s Logan’s “option” situation?
Turning 30? You have got to be kidding me. Not a big deal whatsoever. Enjoy your youth.

Kidman over 40 yet?
You guys aren’t understanding what I’m saying….
Melancon isn’t going to pitch tonight. Logan COULD.
What if they get blown out tonight and need a guy to cover some innings so you don’t have to use better arms in a blowout game?
Logan can do that. Melancon can’t after throwing 37 pitches.
Everybody complains, rightly, they are playing with too short a lineup every night.
Why be short another pitcher when you don’t have to.
Honestly, as much as everybody wants to pimp for Melancon, last night was not impressive at all.
If he threw 2 shutout innings, 15 pitches total? Perhaps a different result.
To have a guy in the pen on a shorthanded team, who can’t be used tonight, makes little sense.
That’s why he’s going back to Scranton.
Swisher back really helps. Now Jeter just needs to get back to being himself and the lineup should be fine. No more Winn every day = good.
Chambliss – because you don’t disrupt Montero’s development to bring him up here and sit on the bench.
Helen Mirren is unbelievably beautiful. I hope I look like that when I’m over 60. She looks like she’s mostly enjoyed her life.
Doreen

Nope. I will not post my pics on here
If any Lohudders who have seen my pics would care to jump in, feel free but otherwise, take my word for it. I am always considered “cute”
i wrote it on an earlier post, i don’t ubderstand the blind support for melancon by some fellow bloggers. the guy has shown nothing but the inability to get major leaguers out. i wouldn’t call him a bust, mainly because i never expected him to become anything.
romulo sanchez remains, imo, the most interesting option for the pen out of triple a. yes, he doesn’t throw strikes, but he’s got the raw stuff, and his upside is much higher than any other high-minors reliever.
the bullpen needs to be overhauled, that’s clear. logan will go eventually, and melancon will not finish the year a yankee. july will be his last month in pinstripes.
I think I’m getting a cramp from reading this thread.
CR9 -
Thank you. No, no offense at all. But you’re being very generous.
Players in the BP are unavailable all the time. Mitre is now 4 days off of a non-full outing. Marte could go. Robertson. Chop.
And then you will have melancon ready to go for the mets.
SJ44-
We are talking at cross purposes. I am advocating sending down both Melancon and Logan, and calling up Huffman.
Don’t forget we have Mitre available tonight, plus Andy is a good shot to give us innings.
I think the extra bench player means more right now than the extra bullpen depth.
So anyone want to compile a “Hot Ladies over 80 List”? Or should I just pretend I never said that?
SJ44,
And you aren’t understanding what we’re saying. I don’t care if Logan is available. I don’t want him to pitch for the Yankees until he learns control.
Changing topics.
Joe G, the time is now to bat Gardner leadoff and drop Capn Jeter to 2nd, where he’s hit most of his career.
Gardner’s OBP is almost 100 higher now. Stolen bases are a lot more valuable when there are no outs. Plus, a few hit and run singles could help Jeter get out of this AWFUL funk. It is almost June. Stats don’t lie. If GGBG fails in the leadoff spot after a month or so, you could always switch back.
Comments please.
Melancon is terrible. He isn’t ready for the big stage yet. I support all of these moves. Moeller was the obvious choice at backup catcher since Montero isn’t ready. I also like bringing up Russo over Golson because of his versatility. Now maybe we wont have to see Pena in the lineup 3-4 times per week. I think Logan should be sent down and Nova should be brought back up. Joe is way too stubborn when its comes to pitchers though. Logan has become the new Phil Coke. No matter how terribly he plays, he wont lose his job.
Betsy do you still want Swisher to go on the DL?
Doreen, you’re killing me here. First no Demi Moore now you say Nicole Kidman isn’t that good? She’s like the Mickey Mantle of beautiful women. Hall of famer, no doubt about it.
SJ44-
You know what they say about a foolish consistency, rules were made to be broken and under the circumstances the 7 man bullpen minimum rule needs to be broken.
If you have a 97 MPH fastball available to you and you DON’T throw strikes, you need to be whacked good by the manager and the coaches.
Something like “Throw the damn ball over the plate, son.”
Perhaps they don’t want Melancon ready for the Mets.
Even if he was here, its not like Melancon was going to be a priority for Girardi to get into a game against the Mets.
You speak as if he has shown to be an asset.
He’s as unreliable as Boone Logan and, unfortunately for him, throw the ball from the wrong side.
That’s why guys like Logan hang around rosters.
If you can’t outpitch Boone Logan, you ain’t ready for the show.
Like I said earlier, Melancon isn’t going to get a lot of rope to show what he can do.
That’s the downside of baptism by fire when you are a younger player on a team like the Yankees.
Erica – always OPPC – Sesame Street Mafia and GTLU supporter May 20th, 2010 at 4:26 pm
I see you are not only cute but beautiful as well! Words paint a picture too!
Jane Seymour.
Class and beauty — full of win.
Melancon has had mixed results. He’s shown something of why people like him, but not enough of it to keep him from shuttling back and forth. Even last night. Mostly not good, but then not so bad. I’d say it’s the second inning that kills him, but last night he did better in the second inning he pitched than the first.
He’ll get another shot, but though I’m supportive and hope at some point he clicks, you get tired of typing “at some point he’ll click.”
You know what they say about a foolish consistency, rules were made to be broken and under the circumstances the 7 man bullpen minimum rule needs to be broken.
—
Unfortunately that’s not Joe Girardi’s way. He’s a ridiculously conventional manager. Especially when it comes to bullpens
Nicole Kidman has way too many surgeries done. She can’t make facial expressions anymore.
She looks like Jerry Jones.
I don’t see how it would hurt Montero’s development to DH four times per week and catch one day per week. I know that Joe likes to let A-Rod, Jeter and Tex DH from time to time, but we still seem thin at DH without Posada, Johnson and Granderson.
This website was so much better when Pete ran it, now it’s just boring.
Drop Jeter to 2nd and see rallies killed by 6-4-3 DP’s, or leave him leadoff and have Gardner single and steal 2nd with 1 out?

Sorry for the “we” reference. I meant to say the Yankees.
Rich, the point is if he HAS to, he can pitch…….The Yankees need someone who can take one for the team.
good Joba tonight – fingers crossed
Chambliss – it would hurt his development because he’s trying to learn how to be a catcher, not how to DH.
Patrick -
I have to admit, for me there is a personality issue that enters into the equation and there’s something about Kidman that I just don’t like; same for Demi Moore (who I watched on General Hospital many years ago – I HATE HATE HATE her voice).
Logan doesn’t throw strikes
Melancon throws strikes, but they smacked all over the park.
As bad as Logan is, he never had an outing as bad as Melancon did yesterday.
Logan has actually gotten some outs in big spots (relieved Aceves with 2 guys on and got out of it vs. Boston, etc.)
Melancon has no role here.
Doreen
Trust me! Im not generous, I tell it like it is!
I had a gf last year ask me what she was on a scale of 1 to 10. I thought she wanted honesty, so I told her she was between a 6-7. I got my face slapped SO HARD; needless to say, that relationship didnt last much longer.
You have two lefties. Marte and Logan. With the Rays lineup Pena and Crawford are two big bats. Crawford .233 against lefties this year. Pena is batting awful anyway against both, but would rather have a lefty to try and negate him being able to extend. Righties you have Joba, Roberston, Mo, Park, better arms from the right side you would go to before Melancon. I am a big fan of Mark, but he isn’t on par with those guys yet. Plus the Rays also now have a power bat in Blalock from the left side. Having the two lefties allows you to matchup for a batter or two twice during the game.
If Pete were still running this place, we’d hear something about how it’s somehow A-Rod’s fault that all these guys are injured.
Patrick,
I’m no Boone Logan fan.
However, in Mark Melancon’s short term in the majors, he’s allowed 34 baserunners in 20 innings.
Small sample size? Absolutely. However, relief pitchers are going to have small sample sizes. You have to impress. Unfair or not, that’s the way it is.
They are sending down a kid who has yet to impress in the time he has pitched here.
Boone Logan is the last guy on the bench to play/pitch in a blowout game.
Every team has one.
I’d prefer Royce Ring, rather than Melancon to get a shot, if the goal is to have 2 lefties in the pen.
I don’t get a vote though.
I definitely don’t agree with moving Gardner to leadoff and Jeter to #2. Now if the Yankees could get back Damon as their DH!!!!!!!!!!!
i say drop jeter to 7th, bat gardner leadoff and move cervelli to the 2 hole
Jeter SS
Gardner CF
Teixeira 1B
Rodriguez 3B
Cano 2B
Swisher RF
Cervelli C
Miranda DH
Winn LF
Just a few thoughts I have concerning the state of the Yankees:
- Awesome to see Swisher in the lineup today. It seems like years since we’ve seen a legit #6 hitter in the lineup, and I’m crossing my fingers that Swish’s bicep injury is behind him.
- Glad to see Russo called up. Love his versatility, plus he can hit a little, so I really support this decision. Would’ve been fine with Golson as well, but this tells me that the Yankees are confident in Russo’s ability to play in the OF.
- HOW IS BOONE LOGAN STILL ON THE ROSTER?!?!?!? I understand Girardi wants the extra lefty in the BP, but it really does no good when he’s allowing lefty batters to reach base all the time. They must really hate Melancon, they never give the man a chance. I understand he got lit up last night, but would it kill them to let him pitch more than ONCE out of the bullpen every time he gets called up? Not even Romulo Sanchez? Ugh.
- Don’t forget about Chad Huffman. He was one of the players I assumed would be in consideration for a call-up tonight, but it doesn’t look like it’s gonna happen as of right now. This young kid can play corner OF and has pop, I’d say a better version of Shelley Duncan. When Granderson returns, it wouldn’t surprise me if they decide to DFA Randy Winn from the team. If that’s the case, expect Huffman to further move up the organizational depth chart.
That said, I would rather not have to see Logan ever again; I’d rather see Nova.
Melancon threw 62% strikes, didn’t walk a batter, and recorded 2 strike outs. Logan threw 45% strikes, gave up a hit and walked the only lefty he faced.
Melancon also got 4 ground balls, had 13% swing and miss rate, and had half of his strikes by either swinging strikes, or called strikes (the others were fouls).
Only 1 of Logan’s strikes was him actually hitting the spot, the others were all fouls.
Demi Moore is married to Ashton Kutcher.. if that isnt enough of a reason to get her kicked off the list (ANY list for that matter) I dunno what is..

There is no such game as a “mop up game” with the Yankees offense unless we are trailing by double digits.
Last night, Logan and Melancon turned a 4 run game into a blowout. We need pitchers who can keep the game where it is.
Same thing when Logan pitched against the Twins last week. He was one baserunner away from us having to warm up Mariano with, what was, a 7 RUN LEAD in the 8th inning.
Give me a strike throwing machine who can keep games close and throw strikes in blowouts rather than a guy like Logan who allows insurance runs for the other team and makes us warm up someone with him for when he inevitably walks guys with big leads.
Yeah, I didn’t find Michelle Pfeiffer hot as Catwoman, and that was what, 20 years ago?

Please don’t spin that outing as something more than it was with misapplying stats.
He didn’t pitch well. No other spin can debate that unless you think its ok for relief pitchers to give up runs.
How many more excuses are you going to come up with?
He didn’t enter the game in “optimal conditions”. As if they have to have a perfect scenario to give him to enter a game.
Throwing 62% strikes isn’t good if the strikes get hammered.
Come on, really.
The guy has talent and hasn’t pitched well here. There is no reason to keep him here as a mop up guy, which he would be, if he was on the roster.

——————————————————————
Which reliever in our bullpen has been consistent this past week. The whole lot of them have been bad. We’ve lost big leads, and made close games a game of catch-up in the late innings. Name me one reliever you feel consistently can give you a 1-2-3 inning, or one without walking the leadoff batter.(leaving Mo out)
You folks aren’t seeing the big picture.
OK, Swisher is starting tonight. What happens if on the second pitch to him he swings and misses, and grabs his bicep and has to come out of the game? We would thenhave to put a kid out in the OF who hasn’t really played it – 10 games this year, total of 13.
On the other hand, Andy is starting, we have Mitre fresh as a long man, and Park, Marte, Robertson, Chamberlain and Mo can all go tonight.
Which is the bigger risk, that Swisher has to come out, or we blow through all those other pitchers and have to use Logan? You have to make decisions based on risk, under the circumstances we have to accept some risks and minimize others.
I say send down Logan and call up Huffman. Even though it means only 11 pitchers I think that it hedges risk better than keeping Logan up.
Would the Yanks do it? Probably not, they are a very conservative organization. But they should. Casey Stengel would have.

The Moeller move is dumb.
It’s pick your poison with Logan and Melancon. Melancon is far too hittable and Logan can’t throw strikes.

2 of his hits were seeing eye singles, and one was a bloop double. He is a ground ball pitcher, sometimes you’re going to get hit. He gave up a very hard hit ball to Pena and Longoria lined one back up the middle, but to say he was atrocious, or that somehow he was worse than BOONE LOGAN is ridiculous.

I’m a regular reader but haven’t posted since the playoffs last fall. But do have to say that I think that any guy here who makes negative comments about how women look (whether the women are under or over 40) should be required to post his own picture first.
Now, I think I look just fine, but I’m over 50, not just over 40; I’ve been following the Yankees since Roy White was the best player on the team, and the likes of Steve Whitaker and Bill Robinson and Jerry Kenney were our hot prospects. So I wouldn’t expose my own picture to the scrutiny of the people here — some of whom are probably younger than my son — even if someone guaranteed me that Randy Winn would hit .350 for the rest of the season. I can’t believe someone is actually arguing for Boone Logan over Mark Melancon. I thought that was a pretty gigantic no-brainer
Melancon shows the ability to throw a strike with all 3 of his pitches. Logan cannot demonstrate this ability with any of his.
Its stupid to keep Logan around because you’re inevitably going to relieve him when he can’t throw strikes in a blow out.
Melancon gave up FIVE hits, not 4.
Hitters seem to have no problem squaring him up. Doesn’t matter how good his stuff looks, hitters are comfortable hitting him.
Donna L – Well-effing-said lol!!!
And as an aside: I’m always really happy to see that so many regulars on the site are women. I love seeing us represent
losing aceves has broken that bullpen.
the 4:45 post is obviously not me!
I call Boone Logan “Baboon” or “Loon” Logan!
I’m arguing that neither guy is any good and are just back end filler for the bullpen.
They aren’t sending down the 2007 version of Joba Chamberlain.
They are sending down a guy who hasn’t pitched well in his short time in NY and certainly didn’t pitch well last night and would be unavailable to pitch today.
Its better he gets regular work in Scranton to improve than sit in the bullpen in NY and pitch low leverage innings.
I am in my 60s and always thought Catherine Deneuve was/is one of the most beautiful women in the world.

Was that recorded in advance??
Otherwise if he hurt his arm playing with Rachael Ray I will be very angry
*******************
Yes-he recorded it earlier this month I believe.
It was really cute (even though I can’t stand Rachael Ray). He let her try on his World Series ring. I was very jealous. lol
Phyllis George combined two of the great things in life: beauty and sports.
She was Miss America in 1971.
If/when Aceves comes back you all won’t have Loon Bogus to dump on anymore- so be patient
Its better he gets regular work in Scranton to improve than sit in the bullpen in NY and pitch low leverage innings.
–
He has nothing to prove in AAA, getting low leverage innings in the Majors would be a step up.
I always liked Jillian Barberie
Rachel Ray’s eyebrows freak me out
The Moeller move is a necessity. There are no other viable options.
Montero and Romine should be catching every day and developing, not shuttled up and down as stopgaps.
BryanHoch No Yankees lineup yet. They’re waiting to see if Nick Swisher can start. He’s taking BP.
Nobody has to argue for Melancon… the Yankees organization has made their voice clear with how they yo-yo him around.
People here seem high on him, but if the Yanks thought was highly of him, he wouldn’t be their sacrificial lamb every time and be sent down after 1 day every time.
Perhaps the Yanks don’t like what they see and are not swayed by the minor league stats the way the fans are?
If they were as high on him as the fans, they give him a chance to stick here.
“Connie Britton of FNL. I discovered her in a ‘24? season. SMOKING!”
She did some time on the West Wing as well. Quite attractive.
im thinking swish will not start tonight. he will get one more day off. the fact it is taking this long, shows they arent 100% confident so might as well hold off. Last thing we need is one more’ serious ‘injury.

He hasn’t shown the ability to throw strikes with 3 pitches.
In 20 major league innings, he’s given up 20, hits, 10 BB, and 4 HBP.
34 baserunners in 20 innings.
Hitters are batting almost .300 against him.
How in the world does that translate into him showing he can throw 3 pitches for strikes.
What he has shown so far is…..
Erratic control, the inability to miss bats, and when he gets hit, he gets hit hard.
In other words, the OPPOSITE of what he has shown in the minors.
I don’t know why that is.
However, when a guy has allowed 34 baserunners in 20 innings, 14 of them via BB and HBP, he’s not showing pinpoint control with 3 pitches.
Should we get lists going of the best looking 40+ men? CR9, I’d like your thoughts lol
Rachel Ray — two packs of Marlboro reds a day? How else do you get that voice?
Grating.
“I can’t believe someone is actually arguing for Boone Logan over Mark Melancon. I thought that was a pretty gigantic no-brainer”
So did I…………til I saw Melancon pitch. Not saying he’s worse than Logan, but he hasn’t offered any evidence that he’s better either.
40+ men? Gerard Butler. SPARTAAAAA
Swisher better start. If the Yanks have to put Russo or Pena in the OF against the Rays of all teams when they could have called up a real outfielder the Yanks screwed up big time.

Neither Melancon nor Logan should be on the roster today.
Melancon shouldn’t be on it because he’s unavailable to throw and the team can’t afford to carry him as an unavailable player.
Logan should not be on the roster because he is awful. That he is speaks poorly of how the roster is being handled.
Logan has shown he can’t be consistent in the bigs. He should not be on the team.
Call up Ring. Whoever. At this point it doesn’t matter. Logan is dead weight and a loss of a roster spot.
Personally, given Swisher’s injury I also would have called up Huffman so that you don’t recreate a circus in the outfield should Swisher get hurt.
The amount of risk the club is willing to carry in the field in order to have the security of a 12 man bull pen is inappropriate right now.
Long term an 11 man bull pen isn’t something they are going to do. But short term the need for greater position player depth outweighs the need for a 12th reliever (never mind 13th…) especially when that 12th guy is Logan.
All that said, if they can’t bear not to have a 12 man pen fine. But there’s no reason why Logan should be one of those 12 men.
And that has nothing to do with the decision making on melancon.
I have no problem with the men discussing how women look since the women on here often talk about how cute baseball players are. I’ve never done that, but I’ve heard about it.
Thank you CB, a voice of sanity.

She’s such goody to shoes it makes me sick.

I never said he has shown pin point control. I said he can throw his pitches for strikes. Which he can. Last night he threw his change, curve, and fastball for called strikes. He got 6% swinging strikes last year as well! And 13% last night!
Clooney’s a staple on the hot men over 40 list
Is patrick dempsey over 40? cause add him to the list as well then.

The ladies here have done hottest players without posting their own pictures so fair is fair.
I understand your point but let the boys have their fun as long as they aren’t lewd about it.
Gerard Butler! Yummy.
Brad Pitt
George Clooney
Johnny Depp I think
Patrick Dempsey
Pierce Brosnan
David Duchovny
Richard Gere
Bruce Willis
Oooooo, la la!!!!!!
Hmmm lots of View fans out there
Agreed CB.
I’m not arguing FOR Logan. I don’t want the guy on the roster either.
I just don’t think he’s blocking Mark Melancon from major league success by his presence on the roster.
As you say, one has nothing to do with the other.
“Rachel Ray — two packs of Marlboro reds a day? How else do you get that voice?”
She had surgery last year for growths on her vocal cords.
CR9,
John Stamos
The bullpen has all been suffering from getting behind on counts & then not locating when they need a strike. The hitter has a huge advantage when the pitcher is missing his spot & putting the ball over the center of the strike zone.
I think Robertson & Joba will work it out. I’m not that optimistic on Logan.
I’m totally down to discuss how women look too, I just thought I’d give us some balance lol. As far as women, anyone saying Michelle Pfeiffer is overrated must be blind. As a straight woman, I can honestly say that her as Catwoman is probably the only instance where my mind could’ve been changed lol. Terri Hatcher though? I’m surprised she’s been listed by so many dudes here.
As far as old guys, Robert Redford and Paul Newman will always be my “I’d have your baby no matter how old you are” guys.
That’s great Jerkface and he got hammered.
It doesn’t do much good if you give up runs and hits and need almost 40 pitches to get through 2 innings.
He was not impressive last night at all.
Kyle Farnsworth could throw 3 pitches for strikes as well.
Occasionally, or better yet, rarely, but he could throw them for strikes.
Also, Kyle Farnsworth stinks.
Kurt Warner too, if he’s over 40!
Today’s off-topic topic has been pretty mild, pat. It’s actually been kind of fun, while waiting for the lineup to get posted.

I don’t know if you saw my post the other day – I wanted to make it clear that in no way did I feel unsafe at Starbucks – I was watching my car because I thought I’d parked illegally and I was afraid I’d get ticketed or towed. Michelle Pfiefer is just ok and Terri Hatcher is gorgeous.
Ladies
Why dont we turn this around and discuss over 40 male hotties!!!!!
Ive already got a pretty decent list started!
I never said he was impressive, but he keeps getting called up to basically eat 2 innings and then get sent down.
Here is what Melancon did to close out the year last year, from July 28 on:
10.2 IP 8 H 3 ER 5 BB 8 K 0 HR 2.53 ERA 59% strikes, 7% swinging strikes .210 BAA
CR9,
What about Ben Affleck? Dane Cook?
Sir Tom Jones!
Eric Dane too. If he’s over 40.
McDreamy and McSteamy!!!
Patrick – fair point, but I still maintain that Terri Hatcher has a face that only belongs on a villain trying to take over Gotham City. But hey, different strokes for different folks

I saw your post that day and responded but it may have been after everyone moved on to a new thread already. That seems to happen to me alot.
Glad it worked out for you and if you ever have any WP questions, I’ll be happy to answer as best I can.
Ben Affleck and Eric Dane were both born in 1972. I just looked. Not 40
Don’t worry CR9, I’d take Matt Damon over Affleck any day of the week too!!
Jon Hamm isn’t 40 either
Shame,
You realize the batman villain Poison Ivy is supposed to be super hot right? Hatcher couldn’t pull that off though.
To the rest of you,

Jon Hamm isn’t 40? Oh, too bad. I like him.
Eric Dane – not 40, but gorgeous.
I also have an insane crush on Mark Consuelos, aka Mr. Kelly Ripa. He’s 39 I think.

Don’t worry CR9, I’d take Matt Damon over Affleck any day of the week too!!
They’re both slime!!! (Althought to be honest, Damon is kinda sorta cute)
Michelle Pfeiffer has always been gorgeous. So is Susan Sarandon, I think. Teri Hatcher has had way too much cosmetic surgery; her face looks immobile. I don’t get how anyone could find someone like that attractive!
Given the different effects that aging has on the careers of male and female actors, I think the real equivalent to women over 40 is probably to men over 60. I haven’t seen Sean Connery lately, but he still looked good the last time I checked.

Consuelos is a Yankees fan too!! He is fine, like Enrique Iglesias!
He’s on the shuttle because he’s not been impressive. That may not be fair but, that’s the way it is.
Selective use of stats aside, he was bad last night. If he threw 2 shutout innings, 18-20 pitches, he’s probably still here today and they may have even won the game last night.
3 runs, 5 hits, 37 pitches? That’s not only bad, it makes him unavailable today and they don’t need another filler arm unavailable in the pen tonight.
I’m not trying to sound harsh but, you don’t get a lot of shots and the shots you get aren’t always fair.
To date, he has not pitched well enough to be off the Scranton Shuttle.
Hopefully, one day he will be.

Hey all. Haven’t read any of today’s posts, just the lead ins right now. I’m happy Chad Moeller is getting the call because he’s had experience.
I am NOT happy that Jorge is going to be missing all that time. Despite what some of you may think based on my love for Cervelli I have never advocated for Jorge being totally replaced. I think he had been doing a great job with the pitchers this season (yes those of you who love to go back and search posts will find that I have mentioned it) and as much as I wanted Cervelli to have more playing time, I never wanted him to have it all. At least not right now. He’s worked with other catchers before so hopefully the combination will be okay.
No question that we’re going through a tough period. Some of our top guns have been down and that isn’t always easy to replace. But we’ll get through it. We still have a cushion, which of course is better than not having a cushion.

CR if you’re around, you’ll appreciate this. I have a little conspiracy theory of my own. They announced today that one of the people tied to the Times Square attempted bombing is from, yes you guessed it, Massachusetts. Well I’ve decided it was a disgruntled Sux fan. The date of the attempted bombing was May 1st. The Angels had been to town the week before. The guy didn’t want to make it look too suspicious so he told his friend to hold off a week. But what he really wanted was to get back at both the Angels and the Yankees, the Angels for the embarassment they caused the Sux last postseason, and the Yankees for the embarassment they just don’t sop causing the Sux!

Fat Slappy was on WEEI today and this was one of his arrogant comments. “You live with me, man, you die with me.” That was in response to him being asked about being annoyed with Tito when Lowell was put in the lineup for him.
What an arrogant, juicing, fat hunk of arrogance. (I’m in a hurry and can’t think of another word right now.)

LOL Already knew that. I did not want to post that here and suggest anything that might get me hammered.
Liam Neeson is over 50. So is Denzel Washington. And Dennis Quaid. Harrison Ford must be approaching 70 by now, and still looks pretty good. I remember when Richard Gere was considered incredibly hot, and he must be 60 by now.
Julian McMahon! Loved him on “Nip/Tuck”, even when the show got ridiculous. He was always showing his rear end. Maybe that’s why I liked him so much.
Antonio Banderas. Yes.
I second the concept that a man of 60 should be considered equivalent of a woman of 40. Now we’re talking.
I enjoyed the women over 40 to the men over 40. I find myself skimming for lineup news. I liked the woman in Sideways, whose name I do not recall.

I will say this about Armageddon: if it’s on, I find myself watching it (invariably to the end).
By the way, I’m so disappointed that Polly Walker missed the list. She was ridiculous when she was 39 but she aged a ton from then till now. It’s like one of your favorite baseball players falling off a cliff when he reaches late 30′s/early 40′s, depressing
