why did they bring up russo instead of golson if they werent going to start him? no one wants Winn in LF everyday for the next 2-4 weeks.

  2. Jerkface May 21st, 2010 at 12:49 pm

    m?

The meaning was that our pitchers are going to outhit Winn this weekend!

  3. Shame Spencer May 21st, 2010 at 12:52 pm

I wish the chats had subtitles lol, some of us can’t get away with listening to the answers in our cubicles :)

  4. m May 21st, 2010 at 12:54 pm

    Jerkface,

Did you say outhit or outperform? I totally missed that.

That Pacman game is aggravating! Need a joystick and the sirens!

  5. SJ44 May 21st, 2010 at 12:55 pm

    Ok, important question……

How do you move the icon on the Pacman game on Google?

Can’t seem to figure it out.

The chat isn’t working for me; I click on the video and all I get are ads and then something that says click on demand. I keep doing that, but …..ah well.

    Hit “Insert coin” to start
And then use your mouse to move Pacman around. (Click the place you want to be his destination)

PS- The coworker who sits in the room all day across from me here at this client wasn’t very amused

Winn isn’t the problem imo. We need to pitch better.

  17. Jerkface May 21st, 2010 at 12:58 pm

    I said outperform.

but the full sentence would be

“the pitchers will outperform Winn this series [at the plate]”

As a japanese, you should understand well that you need to use your intuition ! This is the first interleague series, and predicting that 3 of our best pitchers + javy will do better than Winn at baseball is too easy :x

Don’t agree with Chad’s comment about if BG is #2 hitter, he shouldn’t steal as much because he has Tex & ARod behind him to drive him in. That didn’t stop Rickey Henderson when he had Mattingly & Winfield behind him. Get on, be aggressive and force the opponents hand. No need for BG to stay planted at first.

Hey CR9. Have you tried changing your puppy’s diet. Many commercial dog foods – even expensive ones – have chemicals in them and she may be having an allergic reaction. Our dog was very sick last year and since changing her diet she has beeen doing much better. Vets very often don’t focus on nutritional issues. I learned it from doing my own research.

  80. Everyone sucks except SJ and CB May 21st, 2010 at 2:07 pm

Russo wont start until Winn completely falls apart. it’s not like they can use Winn for much late in the game. having russo on the bench offers the team more flexibility.

Therefore, Winn starts in LF. it sucks, but it’s what we got at the moment.

Soon someone will pop up, Winn will be let go, and everyone will be happy and giggly again.

  81. champ809 May 21st, 2010 at 2:11 pm

“What year did Miranda hit 20-25 HRs in the minors? Cuba doesn’t count.”

’09 in 500 abs he hit 19 HRs but he also hit 3 more HRs that season in the playoffs…

And again the ballparks he’d play a majority of his games in the AL East are more conducive to him hitting homers with his swing than are the minor league parks he played in.

And keep in mind I could give you a list yeah long of guys who hit for more power as pros than they did in the minors starting with 2 great Yankees in Mattingly and Bernie…

When I see a guy like Miranda who’s been a power/rbi guy his entire life including in his native Cuba who also has very good strike zone control and launchs balls 450+ ft meaning he has true pull power that skillset and swing can potentially play up big in the Bronx,Fenway,Camden Yards,The Roger Dome, Jacobs Field, US Cellular Park,The Twins new stadium, Tampadome just to name a few places

Yeah Granderson will be back and Gardner will be back in LF. If this were anywhere but Taxpayers Field, i would say put Thames in and at least we get the possibility of hitting. With lefties this weekend, if Thames can play i think he will be in there anyway.

Thames should not see the OF at Citifield. If a ball gets past him, Mets will be running for days. I know people don’t like Winn but at least he can field. He is a .280 lifetime hitter so I can live with him until Curtis gets back. Remember Winn was signed as a bench player.

CR9. I am not a vet, but when our dog was sick – she was having serious liver failure, the vet (who is actually very good) said she might not last very long – that was last November. That’s when I started doing research and found out how to treat the liver failure with nutrition. I started with just boiled chicken mixed with brown rice and organic mixed vegetables. Within a few weeks she was much better. Sometimes its good to start from scratch – simple natural foods. There really is no down side and you might be pleasantly surprised.

    Abe …

They have Shake Shack burgers and Blue Smoke ribs. I went to two of the Yankee games at Citi Field last year and I had the ribs …very good. I’m going to try the burger and shake tonight but be forewarned …the shake Shack line is usually very long. Brick Oven Pizza looked good too.

    Let’s Go Javy ….Go Yankees 2010 !!!

  148. kevin May 21st, 2010 at 3:22 pm

    yanks are playing horrible lately

sure obviously the pitching is garbage and we are scoring runs but wasting some big opportunities also

3-3 game yesterday 2nd and 3rd no out, Tex A-Rod Cano coming up. we get zero more runs. that crap can’t happen if you want to win games against a team like the Rays. if the Yanks take a 5-3 or 6-3 lead there, they might not ever look back

the team is just playing super sloppy everywhere and they gotta snap out of it

  149. trisha - OPPC member who sees, hears, and knows all. 28 is on its way!!!!! May 21st, 2010 at 3:27 pm

    I figured it out!!!

Usual hit and run but I think I figured out why (beyond the obvious of course :) ) all this has been happening with our beloved Yankees! I kept thinking it was going to get better any minute, and last night we were left with a big fat Et Tu Andy? That threw me for a loop, no question. I unequivocally knew Andy would stop the madness.

Then it came to me in a flash. It’s all about Javy!!! Do you like irony boys and girls? I know I do. Well won’t it be ironic that of all people Javy will be the one to stop the bleeding and get things back on course? The baseball gods planned it this way! They know that when crunch time comes the Yankees will be on top. We all know that (well, some of us know that ;) ). So the baseball gods decided that the team needed to be made whole in a much more important way than getting everyone back from injuries. People need to believe in Javy. His last outing set the scene. Sure people were appreciative, but the common theme was “I need to see him do it again before I believe anything.” Well tonight is the night! This was all in the cards so that Javy would (re)gain acceptance. The gods didn’t believe that doing it incrementally was the way to go because Javy really needed more than incremental love. So they set it up so that he would be the conquering hero, the stopper, the champ, the one who turned things around. Javy’s stock dipped so low that it was the only way to do it. (It’s unfortunate that in the process of setting Javy up for hero status they turned the rest of the team into the Iscariot brothers, with Joba Iscariot in the lead…)

But see, it’s all good. And isn’t it ironic that of all people Javier Vazquez will be the one to finally stop the bleeding?

    :)

    No charge for the optimism.

    See y’all later!

Oh yes, before I go, let me introduce you to my new best friends:

    GO PHILS!!!!!

Tex has stopped hitting again. This is gone way beyond the “slow start” or “it’s only April” story. We make all kinds of fun of David Ortiz, but he’s Babe Ruth this year compared with Tex.

  153. joelh May 21st, 2010 at 3:33 pm

Why can’t Tex bunt towards 3rd when the shift is on like the other night? Mantle did it.

knew you could come up w/ a positive spin! Go Javy!

  160. Jeremy May 21st, 2010 at 3:37 pm

I’m really not worried about Tex like some people around here. Players go through slumps and even though he hasn’t been perfect he is hitting better than he was a month ago.

The Yankees always start off slow so the fact that they have the 2nd best record should calm some Yankee fans down. I see them turning it on next month and the second half when they face a lot of weak teams and when Granderson and Posada get back.

  161. GreenBeret7 May 21st, 2010 at 3:38 pm

The majority of runs the Yankees are scoring is coming in the 9th inning after they are all but out of the game. Don’t be fooled by those totals. Rodriguez, Cano and Garner are yje only consistant hitter for NYYs right now. Cervelli’s doing well, to, but, there needs to be runners on base for his singles for them to score. You can’t keep depending on bench players and rookies to carry the load. Jeter and Teixeira are killing them, and yes, so is Winn. He and Jeter are about 4 points apart for the month of May.

I’m am a little concerned with the bullpen situation. Some guys need to step up. I also think they should make some changes.

  167. sab May 21st, 2010 at 3:42 pm

It seems the yankees like to give batters that are struggling a bit of a pick me up (David Ortiz, Bartlett and Zobrist both got their 1st HR’s of the season the last 2 nights – I can go on forever). I hope that isn’t the case with Jason Bay and David Wright this weekend.

Also doesn’t Oliver Perez pitch like Roy Halladay against the Yankees? Would anyone be surprised the Yankees score 5 runs in the 1st inning against the Mets starter tonight only to see Perez come in in the second inning and shut them down the rest of the night?

On the flip side – lets hope Luis Castillo starts at second base tonight!!
