Apparently, the winner of this weekend’s series gets their colors in lights over the big city. Pretty cool.
Here’s the release:
The Empire State Building will light its world-famous tower lights in honor of the Yankees and Mets Subway Series on Friday, May 21, Saturday, May 22 and Monday, May 24, 2010. On Friday, May 21 and Saturday, May 22 the north/south sides of the building will be lit in Yankees blue and white, while its east/west sides will be lit in Mets blue and orange.
The team who wins the series will have its colors displayed on all four sides on Monday, May 24.

I had to make a judgment call, because as far as I know, no one else has done that, so it’s not explicit in the rules. (Now it will be!)

Trenton game is tied at 5-5 in the bottom of the 5th inning. Justin Christian is 2-2 with 2 homers, a walk and 3 RBI. Austin Krum is 2-3, Romine is 1-3 with an RBI single and Laird is 1-3.
Noesi is not doing well, allowing 5 earned runs on 5 hits with 1 walk and 2 strikeouts. He’s given up 2 homers in his first AA game.

I am not so sure about that. If the powers that be feel he is playing over his head, and one of the youngsters is the real deal, I can see them moving him while his value is high.
The problem right now though, is none of the youngsters are ready yet.

Maybe Girardi doesn’t want to press his luck using Russo out in LF in that big ballpark.
Russo might be able to play LF but that doesn’t mean he plays it well.
