Brian Heyman here at Yankee Stadium again. It’s 5:41, the tarp is on the field and it’s raining hard. Derek Jeter is back in the lineup after leaving early yesterday with his tight hamstring. “I’m not one to sit out because I’m sore,” The Captain said.

Jorge Posada expected to come off the DL and join him in the lineup today. He feels ready, but Joe Girardi said he won’t be activated for this game. Girardi said the Yankees wanted Posada to run again, that it was good for his conditioning. And Posada did run on a treadmill and felt fine. Girardi didn’t rule out Posada being back this series. Posada expects to be back tomorrow now, and he said he will start out as the DH.

Girardi will be the AL All-Star manager, and he gave a strong indication that Andy Pettitte will be one of his pitchers if he stays true to the form he has shown over his first 10 starts. “If it was today, I’d know how I’d deal with it,” Girardi said.

Robinson Cano is the AL player of the week after being the AL player of the month for April.

Here’s the Orioles:

1. Corey Patterson LF

2. Miguel Tejada 3B

3. Nick Markakis RF

4. Ty Wigginton 1B

5. Luke Scott DH

6. Matt Wieters C

7. Adam Jones CF

8. Julio Lugo 2B

9. Cesar Izturis SS

Brian Matusz LHP

Update, 6:05: The tarp is still on the field, but the rain has stopped.
