Rodriguez not yet back from the doctor
Joe Girardi just said he has not talked to Alex Rodriguez today. As far as he knows, Rodriguez is not back from the doctor’s office.
Rodriguez met with Dr. Ahmad, and Girardi wrote the lineup assuming he wouldn’t have Rodriguez available. Girardi said there’s a chance Rodriguez could show up feeling 100 percent with a green light from the doctor, and in that case Girardi would play him tonight, but Girardi doesn’t seem to expect that to happen.
“I think we’re all a little bit worried,” Girardi said.

Arod’s hip/groin issue would explain his lack of power and driving the ball. Hopefully it’s nothing serious. The lineup is going to struggle without him like it did last year. With Arod out it’s time for Tex to finally step up.
Hopefully it’s nothing too serious.
Even if he is cleared, why not give Alex a few days off? I can’t say I blame those questioning Joe as to why he didn’t do that in the O’s series
I don’t like it when Girardi publicy admits he is concerned about
ARod’s nagging injury.
What difference does it make whether he publicly admits his concern? It doesn’t change whatever condition Arod is in right now.
No matter if he becomes 1/2 crippled and 3/4 dead, he’s gonna milk this contract for every last penny. That’s what makes him so historically good.
i like when he admits it, usually if its real bad they hide the info from us until they are sure.
This just in, Alex has no life in his body and is in fact a ghost.
Ooo scary
US Kate don’t you have a Tim’s near you? They are in Buffalo and East Aurora and Gowanda.
There’s one about two blocks away from me.

Why do you care about contracts? The Yankees spent half a billion dollars on contracts since 2008. What Alex makes effects the Steinbrenner’s bottom line not what the Yankees are willing to spend. Same is true for whatever they pay Jeter going forward.
Any time Rodriguez has a leg injury during the rest of his career, the hip issue will always be on the team’s mind. I’ll be concerned when and only when the official team word says to be concerned.
Maybe in Arod’s case right now, caution would be the better part of valor.
BryanHoch ARod diagnosed with tendinitis in hip flexor. He’s day to day, could pinch hit tonight. Girardi considers this good news.
BloggingBombers A-Rod has tendinitis of his hip flexor tendon. Girardi says it’s not related to the labrum surgery he had last year.
Great news on Alex
A-rod couldn’t move last night, just give him the weekend off to let it rest.
aww man, i was just prepping this huge WE NEED TO TRADE FOR GORDAN BECKHAM post…
great news?
I had tendinitis in my knee and it was painful and took weeks of not running for it to totally go away.
Whew!
Look forward to the numerous doctors on the board saying A-Rod should have had the 2nd surgery, should be DL’ed, etc. Since you know, everyone but the team & the doctors who treat the guy know what’s best.
New Post: update on Alex

Call it a guess but Alex is going to have better rehab care than you did.
the weekend off + the day off Monday might be all the rest ARod needs.
i agree. let him sit for the next few days. Also, may want to consider sending a pitcher down and bringing up some one for the bench. the pen hasnt been overworked lately and they should not consider allowing arod to run for a couple days.
as for his power, this may be the case, but i’ll take .300 and the 115 or so rbi he is on pace for even if it is with only 20 homeruns.
Good thing his contract only runs through 2017.

obviously, but that doesnt mean he is going to be magically ok in 6 hours.
What do I care about contracts?
Every dollar wasted on an injured or age diminished player is a dollar that can’t be spent for someone more productive.
This hip surgery and this groin issue are red flags to me.
It’s way to early in his contract to be seeing these kinds of problems.
I mean. The Yankees budget is constrained by this one person for the next 8 years including 2010.
Alex Rodriguez 3b
10 years/$275M (2008-17)
10 years/$275M (2008-17)
re-signed by Yankees as a free agent 12/13/07
$10M signing bonus ($2M paid upon approval, $1M paid each Jan. 15, 2009-2013, $3M paid Jan. 15, 2014)
08:$27M, 09:$32M, 10:$32M, 11:$31M, 12:$29M, 13:$28M, 14:$25M, 15:$21M, 16:$20M, 17:$20M
It’s disheartening.
It would be nice to see these issues much later in the contract, say in 2015 at the earliest. 2010?
Disheartening.
We are in trouble without A-Rod!
