No A-Rod, no problem

Derek Jeter went deep twice and Jorge Posada hit a grand slam as the Yankees beat up on the Astros 9-3 at Yankee Stadium this afternoon. Javier Vazquez pitched seven innings, allowing three runs and picking up his third straight win. Marcus Thames left the game with a strained right hamstring, but in losing Thames the Yankees got Brett Gardner back on the field.

Enough yellow cards; play fair, England!

    England is frustrated.

They are completely controlling this game, but only have a tie to show for it. Poor leadership on that team if they let this game get the best of them.

So what happens if there is a tie? Who advances?

Yankees have the first 5 man rotation to each get to 6 wins each, this year, though Vazquez had one of his in relief.

    Awwww, so close.

Steve, this is not a game to advance anyone, just the opening group stage — if there is a tie, both teams get one point. Two teams out of each four-team group advance to the next round.

England aren’t one of the favorites for this wc. And they are showing why

I listened to most of the game on the radio on and off today. I heard the two Jeter home runs and the Lee home run.

When I got in the car to leave the beach I heard Sterling give the power report and said Posada hit a grand slam. I let out a major cheer!!!

Great game by Captain Jeter and Posada. The oldsters are showing their power. Also kudos to Javy. Girardi’s determination to stay with Javy during the early part of the season is paying off for the Yankees. Boo to those who maligned Javy. No more injuries, guys!

If I have to hear McCarver yell “unbelieveable” one more time with this Sox game i’m gonna throw the TV out the window.. He is such a “sox homer” along with Fox itself… On a side note, the Phillies are atrocious !!!!!!! I guess DiceK left the game early?
