Sunday’s lineup: Jeter returns
I guess it was true: All Derek Jeter needed was a day.
The Captain returns for today’s Subway Series rubber game with the Mets. Here’s a complete look at today’s lineup:
Jeter SS
Swisher RF
Teixeira 1B
Rodriguez 3B
Cano 2B
Posada DH
Granderson CF
Cervelli C
Gardner LF
Sabathia LHP
Also of note: Granderson earns the start vs. Johan Santana after sitting Friday vs. Hisanori Takahashi.
Brian Heyman and I are in for Chad today. I’ll have much more later.

I hope CC gets some significant run support.
Finally get the full lineup for a game..seems like its been awhile.. Go Yanks!
While a nice bout of run support would be nice for CC, I am hoping that CC can shut down the lineup of the Mets and get his game back on track.
Knocking Santana around would be fun to see, but I don’t want to see CC having to battle through each inning.
Fathers day, CC/Santana, US open finale in primetime….not bad if you’re a sports fan….anybody see the shot Tiger hit on 18 last night….unbelievable, thats why people watch him.
Good morning, all, and Happy Father’s Day.
It’s funny – got up this morning, and immediately reached for my Scranton Yankees T-shirt that I got at last year’s blog outing there. And, the first post today is from Ron in Scranton.
I would strongly encourage all who can make it to do so. We had a great time last year, met Cisco and the famous Shelly Duncan, and some great Yankee fans. Also met up with Pete and Chad. Unfortunately, don’t know if we can go this year, but the Scranton Yankees and Ron organized a great event.
Got to go grocery shopping for some red meat to grill later on today. Catch you at gametime.
Really – offense is all I want…a win would be great, but I’m really tired of reading about how Jeter, Alex etc are washed up and should be replaced…
A stellar 7+ inning game from C.C. is exactly what the Yankees need today. A perfect time for him to right his ship before heading west.
I’d much rather see Granderson and Gardner in the lineup than Huffman or Russo against all pitching.
The A line up. No JV guys.
Josh… what does that mean “Granderson earns the start” vs the left-hander???
Wish Joe would bat Gardy lead off and DJ 2nd already. I don’t buy the Jeter’s comfortable in the lead off spot, so we’ll just leave him there excuse. It’s not like he’d be uncomfortable in the 2 hole. Gardy did pretty well at the lead off spot yesterday, and he’s more of a true lead off hitter then DJ is. DJ was fine as a lead off hitter when there weren’t many other options, but now there’s a few options (even Granderson) that could be put in that spot.
