  14. Nick in SF June 22nd, 2010 at 6:36 pm

Javy and Cervy should be groovy.

  15. Zooboy June 22nd, 2010 at 6:38 pm

“Posada to catch back to back.” And belly to belly?

  16. Rick June 22nd, 2010 at 6:40 pm

Let’s call last night’s game a jet lag game although Burnett has not been on his game in recent weeks anyway.
The bats will be awake tonight and Andy will be Andy.

  17. RayVT June 22nd, 2010 at 6:46 pm

Thanks Doreen! Every time I check the GTLU Standings I get to see your gorgeous smile! Yes, I do check it often! LOL!

  26. Bret the Hitman June 22nd, 2010 at 7:04 pm

    Betances link doesn’t work.

  27. Doreen - GTLU Stuff & Photos June 22nd, 2010 at 7:05 pm

The GTLU site has been updated with today’s lineup, participants, winners and standings.

  28. CRAWDADDY (Boycott ESPN-NY) June 22nd, 2010 at 7:06 pm

“Pirates prospect catcher Tony Sanchez was hospitalized after being hit in the face by a pitch while playing for High-A Bradenton on Tuesday.

Fortunately, Sanchez is alert and the injury is not considered to be serious. It’s just the latest bit of bad luck for last year’s first-round pick, as he missed some time earlier this month due to concussion-like symptoms after being plunked in the head. The 22-year-old backstop is batting .314/.414/.454 with four homers and 35 RBI over 207 at-bats this season.”

    SJ,

I hope your nephew is fine after being beam today.

  29. Doreen - GTLU Stuff & Photos June 22nd, 2010 at 7:06 pm

    GB7-

So glad to hear Betances is making strides. :)

  30. Carl June 22nd, 2010 at 7:08 pm

Wow SJ’s nephew has been hit in the head now in the face?

  31. Doreen - GTLU Stuff & Photos June 22nd, 2010 at 7:11 pm

Oh, God, SJ44, I hope Tony is going to be okay.

  32. GreenBeret7 June 22nd, 2010 at 7:12 pm

Doreen, his breaking pitches were breaking hard and sharp and hitting between 93 and 94 with his fastball. The best part was 5 ground balls and only 4 fly outs to go with the 8 strikeouts. His control has been better than it ever was, at least so far this season. That wasn’t always the case in his previous years.

  33. PJH June 22nd, 2010 at 7:14 pm

Does anyone have an updated scouting report on Betances?

  34. PJH June 22nd, 2010 at 7:15 pm

Sure enough it was posted right before my post

  35. Doreen - GTLU Stuff & Photos June 22nd, 2010 at 7:16 pm

Thanks, GB7. Good stuff, as always, and much appreciated.

  36. CRAWDADDY (Boycott ESPN-NY) June 22nd, 2010 at 7:18 pm

Betances is sitting in the 93-95 mph range and touching beyond that on some pitches. His great curve ball is still in his arsenal and he has developed a good changeup due to throwing that pitch often during his elbow rehab as it puts less strain on the elbow.

  37. SAS June 22nd, 2010 at 7:18 pm

    SJ44,

Hope Tony is OK. I heard he got hit in the face.

  38. GreenBeret7 June 22nd, 2010 at 7:19 pm

You’re most welcome, Doreen. I assume that when they did the ligament adjustment on his elbow, they also adjusted his Andy Pettitte Control Ligament at the same time.

  39. CRAWDADDY (Boycott ESPN-NY) June 22nd, 2010 at 7:19 pm

Also, Betances had some time to work on his pitching mechanics during his recovery which is probably why he’s able to repeat his delivery now and increase his command thus allowing less walks.

  40. Sixto Lezcano June 22nd, 2010 at 7:23 pm

Carl–I read your comments where you predicted that Andy would pitch a perfect game tonight. That’s far out, but more likely to happen than Granderson getting three hits and not striking out. In case you’re unsure about how I feel about Curtis—be very sure that I think that he is a first class bum and a bust.

  41. Doreen - GTLU Stuff & Photos June 22nd, 2010 at 7:27 pm

    GB7 -

They might as well have, as long as they’re in there anyway! :)

  42. pat June 22nd, 2010 at 7:30 pm

Good thoughts and prayers go out to Tony and SJ’s family.

  43. Smells Like Cabbage June 22nd, 2010 at 7:30 pm

I really hope the Yankees have a good game tonight. Get off to a good start.

  44. Doreen - GTLU Stuff & Photos June 22nd, 2010 at 7:31 pm

Can we please refrain from bashing the players until after the game, please.

  45. GreenBeret7 June 22nd, 2010 at 7:33 pm

Adam Warren is pitching the 2nd game of the Tampa Yanks DH. I’ll update it inning by inning.

  46. Jason22 June 22nd, 2010 at 7:40 pm

GB, are you in Tampa to see these games?

If you are, thanks for the first hand report.

His brother has said in his two previous starts he was sitting 95, interesting if he lost a couple of miles this start, or it could be a slower gun?

  47. Tom in NJ June 22nd, 2010 at 7:46 pm

Not Good News on Tony Sanchez:

“7:16 p.m.: Huntington just said a second scan now shows there might be two small fractures in the cheek area. The hospital has asked for a specialist to review the scans.”

    http://plus.sites.post-gazette.....e-by-pitch

  48. GreenBeret7 June 22nd, 2010 at 7:46 pm

Warren held Dunedin scoreless in the 1st inning, but gave up 2 singles. 1 strikeout.

Vazques tied up the scranton game at 1-1 with a 2nd inning solo homer. Montero with another strikeout.

no, just getting the radio feed on the game. Only going on what they are reporting. Sorry.

  50. Jason22 June 22nd, 2010 at 7:50 pm

    Thanks for passing that on

My thoughts are with the whole family. How awful.

Right after being named to the Futures game. Talk about some serious highs and lows.

I hope he gets well real soon

  52. GreenBeret7 June 22nd, 2010 at 7:51 pm

Trenton lost the completion of the suspended game from late May, 8-2. DeLaRosa had an ugly game. Romine and Gil did hit solo homers, though. 2nd game starts in about 30 minutes.

  53. G. Love June 22nd, 2010 at 7:52 pm

    SJ,

Thoughts and prayers with your family.

  54. pat June 22nd, 2010 at 7:52 pm

Guthrie hit a batter and the umpire issued warnings? Has he not seen Guthrie’s previous work before?

  55. Betsy - prove it, Phil June 22nd, 2010 at 7:52 pm

Wow, I hope Tony’s ok – talk about bad luck.

  56. SJ44 June 22nd, 2010 at 7:52 pm

    We have conflicting reports.

We are sending our doctors to look at him.

A Ball is dangerous folks. The pitcher he faced tonight has hit 2 other guys.

    Gonna be a long night.

    ———————————————————————————————————————-

Actually, about 2/3rds of the FSL teams broadcast. If you poke around, you can find a Tampa station that broadcasts on a part time basis.

  58. GreenBeret7 June 22nd, 2010 at 7:55 pm

SJ, best wishes to the family for a fast recovery and hoping that it’s just a scare with your nephew. That’s a tough break. Sorry to hear it.

  59. Tom in NJ June 22nd, 2010 at 7:56 pm

SJ, Wish Tony the all best from LOHUD.

  60. Patrick June 22nd, 2010 at 7:57 pm

    SJ44,

Best wishes to Tony, I hope he’s ok.

Gets hit right above the temple, then in the shoulder, now in the face. Jeez… that’s some terrible luck

  61. SeaSide Sally Lifeguard June 22nd, 2010 at 7:59 pm

I like this lineup. I really hope we win. Boston is gaining too much momentum. I do not want them to turn into a juggernaut at this point in the season. It makes me nervous.

  62. Bronx Born June 22nd, 2010 at 7:59 pm

Best of thoughts and care SJ.

  63. SJ44 June 22nd, 2010 at 8:00 pm

    Thanks everybody.

He’s going to be ok. Stinks he won’t play in the game. Hopefully, he will still be part of the festivities.

We are just looking to get confirmation on everything.

Could have been a LOT worse though. Lucked out on that end.

  64. SAS June 22nd, 2010 at 8:01 pm

    SJ,

Please know we all are thinking and praying for Tony and the whole family. Thanks for checking in.

  65. blake June 22nd, 2010 at 8:03 pm

    SJ,

Hope your nephew is ok…really bad luck. You’re right A ball is dangerous…hopefully he will get moved up soon where guys have a little better idea where its going…hope he has a quick recovery.

  66. Joe from Long Island June 22nd, 2010 at 8:04 pm

    SJ just saw about Tony.

    My best wishes.

  67. Jason22 June 22nd, 2010 at 8:04 pm

Really 2/3 of them broadcast GB?

Wow I look at the MILB all the time, and never see the listen function for most of the teams.

Some of them have the games are broadcast on Fri or the weekend, but 2/3 is a lot.

I will keep a look out on that.

Never seen any Tampa game listed at being online, at least on their official website.

    Thanks for the info.

SJ, I am sorry about your nephew, I hope he is okay and back on the field as soon as possible.

  68. GreenBeret7 June 22nd, 2010 at 8:05 pm

Warren’s getting roughed up in his game. He allowed a 2nd inning solo homer. Through 2 innings, 1 run on 5 hits, 2 strikeouts. Tampa down 1-0.

  69. Mike Rice June 22nd, 2010 at 8:09 pm

Terrible news about the nephew, SJ. Hope he recovers quickly and gets the nod to AA.

  70. SJ44 June 22nd, 2010 at 8:09 pm

    Thanks everybody. Really appreciate it.

Most teams broadcast at minimum their home games in A Ball, if not all the games.

As GB said, check minorleaguebaseball.com for the schedules.

  71. GreenBeret7 June 22nd, 2010 at 8:15 pm

Jason, the 2nd Dunedin game isn’t on tonight. I’m following online. I’ll need to find the Tampa station that does the studio games for the yanks, as soon as I do, I’ll post it.

  72. The Philly Phitins June 22nd, 2010 at 8:16 pm

Hey Yankees someone on the previous thread used my moniker to praise the Yankees, while we like Andy, Mo Phil,Cano, and Gardner,.

I’m 1000% a Philly Phan! I always want the Yankees to lose. Any a b team plays the Yankees and beats them ,is all good to us and they’re our new Phavorite team, so don’t be Phooled by your Yankee o impostor!!

  73. Bret the Hitman June 22nd, 2010 at 8:17 pm

    SJ,

Congrats to your nephew on earning an invitation to the Futures Game. I am so sorry to hear that he’s hurt and won’t be playing in the game. Here’s to a speedy recovery for Tony and best wishes to the family.

    Bret

  74. The Philly Phitins June 22nd, 2010 at 8:17 pm

Haha just kidding guys! I really am a closet Yankee fan and I’m just looking for attention. I feel so alone living in Philadelphia :(

  75. Jerkface June 22nd, 2010 at 8:26 pm

Where you from? One of my best friends is Mike Rice!

  76. The Philly Phitins June 22nd, 2010 at 8:30 pm

  78. Comet June 22nd, 2010 at 8:32 pm

SJ44 best wishes for the speedy recovery of your nephew. Hope this doesn’t interfere with his career prospects. Take care,

    Comet

  79. GreenBeret7 June 22nd, 2010 at 8:34 pm

    Warren through 3 innings, 6 hits, 1 run, 0 walks, 2 strikeouts

  80. Rich in NJ June 22nd, 2010 at 8:36 pm

I thought Mike Rice coached at RU?

    SJ

I hate me-too stuff, but you seem like a decent guy, so I wish your nephew the best as well.

  81. GreenBeret7 June 22nd, 2010 at 8:36 pm

Scranton is losing 3-1. McAllister is pitching ok. 6 innings, 5 hits, 3 runs, 2 walks, 0 strikeouts

  86. Mike June 22nd, 2010 at 8:45 pm

Mets have put up 3 runs on Verlander, lead 3-0 in the 3rd inning… game is currently in a rain delay.

  87. RS June 22nd, 2010 at 8:51 pm

WE in Philly RESPECT Andy! We think he’ll go deep tonight and get the win! The Diamondbacks are a much more powerful offense than my Phitins but Andy is just too good to lose two games in a row! I’ll be rooting for a loss, but I know it’s hopeless.

I’m hoping that the Yankees lose tomorrow but Vazquez is just too hot right now! Did you see the way he shut down my Phitins all last season??

  88. RS June 22nd, 2010 at 8:52 pm
