Update, 7:19: And the Yankees and Mets could be in the market for this Lee guy? He just gave up that solo homer to Nick Swisher in the first. Actually, this Lee guy is pretty good. Some World Series memories are coming back from last fall.

Update, 7:31: It’s 1-1 in the second after Curtis Granderson botched Franklin Gutierrez’s single to center to let the run score, but that was quite a throw by Francisco Cervelli to erase Gutierrez easily trying to steal.

Update, 7:55: Phil Hughes hasn’t been overly sharp so far — two runs, five hits in three innings. He had been saying that he hadn’t pitched lately as well as his record indicated, at 10-1 coming into the game.

Update, 8:07: Hughes looked like he got the ball in on Gutierrez, but obviously it wasn’t in enough since the ball landed in the left-field seats — 3-1 M’s in the fourth.

Update, 8:20: Mediocre start for Hughes. Ichiro’s sac fly here in the fifth makes it 4-1.

Update, 8:40: It’s 7-1 here in the sixth, two outs. Hughes is done. Boone Logan’s turn.

Update, 8:48: Swisher is the only one who can figure out Lee. That was quite a shot to left-center. It’s his 15th career two-homer game. So it’s 7-2.

Update, 9:09: Lee has given up just five hits over seven.

Update, 9:21: Lee has set down nine straight. He has passed the audition, like he needed to audition for anyone.

Update, 9:36: Brandon League is warming. Lee is past 100 pitches, and it’s 7-4 with one out and Jorge Posada on second in the ninth.

Update, 9:39: Lee finished what he started. Mariners win, 7-4.
