After pitching seven scoreless innings, CC Sabathia allowed a game-tying, two-out single in the top of the eighth. It hardly mattered when Alex Rodriguez hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the inning, sending the Yankees to a 4-2 win that snapped a modest two-game losing streak. As he seems to always do, Mariano Rivera handled the ninth inning. It was Rodriguez’s 12th home run, Robinson Cano hit his 16th and Mark Teixeira extended his hitting streak to 12 games.
