Yankees general manager Brian Cashman will meet with kids at the Kips Bay Boys and Girls Club in the Bronx today to vote for Nick Swisher in the All-Star Game’s final ballot. From 1 to 2, Cashman will vote with the kids a to make a push for the Yankees outfielder.
On Tuesday, Kevin Youkilis moved into the lead in the fan voting and might have gotten a boost when Senator John Kerry sent an email to supporters urging them to vote for Youkilis. I know at least one person who got one of the emails. As for yesterday’s Youkilis injury, it doesn’t sound serious enough to take him out of consideration.
The Yankees are also in on the campaigning, with Send Swish supporters outside of the Today show, Cashman at the Boys and Girls Club and Swisher pushing for support on Twitter.
“John Kerry sent something out, so we need some New York people to step up,” Swisher said. “It’s been fun, but if you look at all five guys, everybody is so extremely deserving. Everybody is having wonderful years. To be mentioned in the final vote with the other four guys, it’s an honor for me because all those guys are great players. Whoever wins – although, I want to win – they’ll be extremely deserving.”
