Feinsand: Cano pulling out of home run derby

This should hardly come as a surprise.

Mark Feinsand is reporting that Robinson Cano will take himself out of next week’s home run derby because of a lingering back injury. It’s hard to ignore the fact this news comes just one day after both Kevin Long and Joe Girardi expressed concerns about Cano’s participation.

Feinsand’s sources, however, say there is a minor back problem that’s been bothering Cano, and the training staff expressed concern about his participation.

Whatever the reason, it sounds like Cano won’t be in the home run contest after all.
