Another Chicago paper, http://www.southtownstar.com says the Yankees making him wait until seasons end to talk contract is a lack of regard-if not a lack of regard and they should pounce.

Where is this coming from, Yankees don't do extensions during the season.

Erin -

I think it was a good showing by Swish. He got enough HRs to not ?embarrass? himself and we, the silly fans that we are, didn?t have to worry too much about his swing getting messed up. Actually, he took a lot of pitches, didn?t he???

******************************
He did take a lot of pitches-typical Swisher! ;)

I was a little relieved that he was out after the first round-the Yankees probably were too! lol

Girardi was a Cubs fan growing up. It was his dream to be a Cub, and he did get to play for them. I wouldn't be surprised if things changed in NY that Girardi would want to manage there. But right now, I can't imagine him not being re-signed right here.

I also agree with Billy D. The guy who is manager when the Cubs finally do win is going to be worshipped! :)

"Rhetorical question : Would you want to manage a team that operates under a (so called) curse, and hasn’t won WS in 100 yrs, or stay with a franchise committed to winning? duh!!"

Right now, given the century plus of failure, being the guy who is the manager when the Cubs finally win would about as special as it gets.

Dorreen:

I did not read the article. Struggling to even keep my eyes open today. Like some others before him, Pettitte clearly has adapted well to the physical limitations that come with age and/or injury.

Guess who wants Joe Girardi to come manage their team?

Chicago Cubs, www.suntimes.com They think he, if anyone could straighten out their team.

They think they could LURE HIM AWAY from the YANKEES crazy !!

Rhetorical question : Would you want to manage a team that operates under a (so called) curse, and hasn't won WS in 100 yrs, or stay with a franchise committed to winning? duh!!
