Taking Mitre out after one start wreaks of no plan. This is just like moving Joba back and forth and changing how they would handle him...NO plan. Mitre stunk, but after one start they pull the plug? Seems a bit quick to me especially for a guy I think most of were thinking would be cut before his last (only) good outing? Mitre had pitched very well, why not give him a shot again? Do they think he is better suited out of the pen?

“First of all, please don’t put videogames in the same category as NASCAR, some of us gamers are actually pretty smart.”

I got no problem with videogames. But when someone asks “would like the pasta primavera with your tokens, I draw the line…

------------------

LOL! Ok yea, I remember going to a D&B's for my 12th birthday and even then I remember it being kinda dumb.

Tangential Discussion, re: emotions

If there was one thing I wish I could give back in life, it's the crying thing. Believe me it's a constant source of embarrassment for me. Apparently just about everything in life touches me very deeply. I have cried over Peter Wilhousky's arrangement of the Battle Hymn of the Republic, sung by just about any chorus; any sad story, told by anybody; any joyful story; watching Mo get 3 Ks to end a game; reading about cruelty to animals; watching Robbie Alomar and Omar Vizquel turn one of the most beautiful double plays at the Stadium that I think I will ever see; the vulnerability on the face of BYKim collapsing on the mound at the Stadium during the 2001 World Series after his second blown save; watching the DBack players rally round him after he did that; seeing any player down on the field after getting hit by a ball. I guess you get the picture.

Sometimes when I cry over things having to do with the game, I think I mention it because I am hoping against hope that someone will echo the sentiment, saying they also had tears in their eyes so I don't always feel like some kind of weirdo.

Crying is a weird ass thing.

Yet I can honestly say that Yankee wins and losses don't elicit any particular emotion from me. Specific plays may make me well with pride or cringe a little, but they don't stay with me (except maybe for the toss pass from Jeter to Jorge in the playoffs at Oakland, oh my God). As much as I always believe that the Yankees will prevail - and I definitely do again this season - if they were to lose the only disappointment I would feel would be FOR them, not IN them.

I don't want you to think that I spend my life crying, because I don't. I am not prone to mood swings so it isn't some kind of hormonal thing. It's just the curse of the emotions I guess. Too much empathy isn't a good thing, but I guess you're born with it. I can't give it back, else I would. Believe me.

Oh yeah, seeing someone else cry definitely does me in. My brothers and sisters once suggested that I rent myself out for wakes and funerals. And they used to call me Toonces the Crying Cat.

Jerkface, I honestly don't even think we're arguing anymore. I think we're agreeing more.

And successfully observing something and understanding it are two different things.

I'm smart enough to know that people will act like they do in a game thread when the Yankees are behind, but I'm not smart enough to understand it, and don't want to ever relate to it.

CR9 July 26th, 2010 at 6:18 pm
“Did anybody ever explain how the Rangers are being allowed to add payroll right now?”

No. But I’ll explain it. They have a decent/good chance of beating the Yankees in a playoff series – if the Yankees make it to the playoffs.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
agree, they are dangerous. but then again , so is TB or Boston , if TB or Boston makes it. it's gonna be a long and treacherous road to the WS.

LGY, all kidding aside, if you actually dial the number and wait on hold to be verbally dressed down by Mike Francesca, who I have to give some measure of respect to for being so completely open about this utter disdain for his callers, something is missing somewhere.

I guess this is about the time I suggest you all go find "Big Fan" starring Patton Oswalt on cable or PPV.
