Moseley shines early, offense shines late
A two-out, seven-run rally in the seventh inning made tonight’s series finale a blowout. It ended as an 11-4 Yankees win that was in such little doubt, Marcus Thames played third base in the ninth inning. But for six innings, it was a close one, and Dustin Moseley allowed one run through six innings for a much-deserved win in his first spot start of the season. Alex Rodriguez led the Yankees with three RBI, but he’s now gone a week without hitting home run No. 600. And in case you’re wondering, Thames had never played third base in his professional career. Not even in rookie ball.

CHAN HO PARK
Very good win – taking 3 out 4 from a team that had been playing well, and doing so on the road, is impressive.
HUGE kudos to Moseley – a really excellent performance.
Fun series coming up with the Rays – or it will be if we take 2/3.
Thames made the hard part look easy.
And in case you’re wondering, Thames had never played third base in his professional career. Not even in rookie ball.

And he never will again
If Girardi EVER sends Chan Ho Park in a game again—even if the Yankees are up 56-0—he should immediately be institutionalized.
As I said on the previous thread:
This is start[ed] to remind me of a Torre-esque passive-aggressive personnel deployment designed to get the GM to make a move.
Yo Bret,
Any news on that Park for Josh Johnson deal?
Since it was a blowout, I actually got a laugh out of Thames’ throw. I wouldn’t have been laughing if the score was close.
As for Girardi using Park 2 innings, something is up with that. Girardi has said in the press that he now knows that he can’t use Park for 2 innings. Then why do it tonight? Either they are DFA’ing the guy after the game or trading him. Anything else points to Girardi’s incompetence and I don’t want that to be the case.
1 Day, 16 hours, and 50 Minutes until the Trade Deadline!!!!!!!!
Doesn’t it seem like every contender has done something?
Rangers: Cliff Lee + Jorge Cantu
Phillies: Roy Oswalt
Angels: Haren
Twins: Capps
Are we gonna get shut out?
Chan Ho should only come in a game if the Yankees are winning by 15 or more runs.

Girardi will answer with “He was so efficient int he first inning, I thought I would see how it went”
I cannot stop laughing about that throw. WOW.

Yo Bret,
Any news on that Park for Josh Johnson deal?
********
Sticking point is $$. Yanks want Marlins to pay 1/2 JJ’s salary.
“Are we gonna get shut out?”
I think it shows that they are reluctant to add a big, multi-year contract.
Anyway, no deal is better than a bad deal.
“I wouldn?t have been laughing if the score was close.”
He wouldn’t have been there for you to laugh at if the score was close.
The Yankees have the best record in baseball; they don’t have to keep up with the Jones’, the Jones’ have to keep up with them.
It’s rather hard to put the Rangers/Lee up there when the Yankees had a deal in place…………not that they keep scorecards for in-season moves anyway.
girardi is shmuck. he left park out there to throw 50 +pitches.
is he resting chad guadin for a big spot tommorrow????????????
terrible.
park is better then gaudin morons……..
Mosely and Chad should go to a museum together next Tuesday morning.
Brunch at The Met and then catch the 4 at 86th st.
Having Thames at third helped extend the game. I think if Alex was still in he would have gotten to that ball that went through. Its understandable about calling off the dogs, but it was tough on Park to have to throw all those extra pitches.
233 pitches from the Indians tonight? Holy cow. I wonder what the record is for a 9 inning game.
“Chan Ho should only come in a game if the Yankees are winning by 15 or more runs.”
Isn’t that what they say about Joba?
Rich, I’m not sure about that. They had a deal in place for Lee (and they would have re-signed him)…….but Haren was a guy they didn’t love (but they liked). I think it shows that there’s no one out there that they are enamored with, certainly not enough to give up top prospects (well Lee and Soria – but Soria was always a no-go).

LOL. I second this.
Chad is obviously the good luck charm
You can’t blame Park. That’s on Girardi.
He’s a short reliever and he threw 52 pitches to take one for the team.
That’s not right.
He should have been out of there after 25-28 pitches.
The poor guy was spent.
That’s on Joe and not on Park.
Park hasn’t been very good this year but it has been a little curious that they have neglected to use him the way that seems he’s most effective (1 inning only)..
Good win tonight and a dynamite outing from Mosley…couldn’t have asked for more from him. The bats were alive in the last 2 games of this series. They could have even scored more tonight had they had a little better luck earlier in the game. Lets hope it caries over to TB this weekend.
I don’t exactly want Park in a big game against the Rays. If Phil struggles, he won’t be used anyway; if he pitches well, we still have Robertson………but who else? Joba? I guess so………either way, not Park.
Good night Yankee people!
Maybe they’re stretching Chan Ho out.
“The process has begun.”
I really don’t want to think Joe would just send someone out there without any concern for his physical well-being; if that’s the case, it speaks very poorly of him.
Betsy
Lee doesn’t make much money this year and they plan on signing him anyway, which is why they don’t want to take on another big contract.
Yes, they didn’t think trading for Haren’s contract was worth reducing their limited payroll flexibility.
SI_JonHeyman
while #yankees are out on dunn (never really let in), theres no evidence theyve turned toward old friend matsui

Phil told me to tell you that he will post again some time next week.
Park hasn’t been all that good this season but it is a little curious that they seemingly have refused to use him in the way it appears he’s most effective (one inning only).
Good win tonight and dynamite performance by Mosley. Really couldn’t have asked for more from him. The bats were alive in these last 2 games and really they could have scored even more tonight had they had a bit more luck early in the game. Lets hope it carries over to TB this weekend.

That was ugly and unneccessary. Park has had major issues being extended all year. Girardi knows that. And he left him out there just to burn his arm before the Tampa series.
=========
oh no! park can’t pitch in the Tampa series. call it a blessing in disguise. what was girardi supposed to do? bring in a new pitcher for 1 last out in a blowout. the guy was at 25 pitches or so with 2 out before imploding. he’s just useless.
“while #yankees are out on dunn (never really let in), theres no evidence theyve turned toward old friend matsui”
Why would they? LAA isn’t going to part with Matsui. He may not be raking for them, but he’s better than nothing.
“Are we gonna get shut out?”

Those teams have to make moves because they are chasing the Yankees.
Bronx Jeers,

Chan Ho Park for Josh Johnson heating up #Marlins want #Yankees to pay full salary of Johnson. Sticking point…less than 5 seconds ago via web
Damn, good trade for the Nationals.
Wilson Ramos for Matt Capps, I’m digging the job Jimmy is doing out there.
Now sign Harper, protect Strasburg’s arm and they actually have a good future.

yeah ok. gaudin was actually useful last year and give the Yankees some good starts and still has been better and more useful this year. nice try though.
Girardi totally abused Park tonight. He is a good one inning pitcher but Joe insists on pitching him multiple innings.
Rich, true.
Of course the Nats didn’t let them in……..probably asked for Montero and Betances.

What do you think about mosely starting over mitre now?
Laura,
I am not advocating trading for Matsui but the Angels are 9 games out and their playoff hopes are as close to shot as you can get.
Rumors today said they are going to be sellers now and Matsui will probably be available.
No way I’m taking that deal if I’m Cashman.
Throw in Hanley and then maybe. Maybe…
They really need a non-DH, but if they could steal Matsui…and I mean steal.
Ok, thanks Rich.

White Sox pitching coach: Strasburg prone to shoulder injuries
I’d be worried if the rays added anybody significant & i hope we don’t meet the phillies in the ws.
oswalt
halladay
hamels would be no fun.
This is the only reason i would wan’t to add a player.
Cashman did try for the best though & almost pulled it off with lee to his credit & if he has a chance to upgrade the team without getting robbed i would hope he does it & believe he will.
All I can say is that I am glad we won tonite’s game.
I would not have wanted to go into TB’s house up by only 1 game.
We have advantageous pitching matchups and if we perform to our capabilities we should do just fine.
Phil. I’ve got something special for if you pitch a shutout.
It’s better than an In and Out burger. Trust me.
Why do certain fans still follow the Sox scores?
They want them DEAD!
Watch this clip to understand this phenomenon. (just substitute the line “they got the shipment” for “the red sox won a game” and the words “his house” for Fenway Park)
There’s even a reference to JD Drew! (Nancy Boy)

Maybe Park is going to be DFA tomorrow. Girardi doesn’t seem like the type to just leave a guy out there to dry. If the team was losing 11-1 and Girardi was upset then i would understand it because that is usually when a manager does something like that. Since they were winning I don’t get it.
Was wondering what the intelligencia was going to figure out what to complain about tonight…
Just got back to the press box, and yes, Moseley and I talked about setting up visits to the Hall of Fame before every one of his starts.
Logistically, it seems problematic.
Also, Nick Swisher and Marcus Thames were being laughed at a LOT in the clubhouse. The replay of Thames throw was must-see-TV.
It doesn’t have to be the Rock ‘N’ Roll Hall of Fame.
Any museum will do and every major league city has some kind of museum.
Except maybe Tampa, but then you two could visit the city’s oldest Hooters.
Chan Ho Park is a 1 inning pitcher, and what Girardi did to him tonight is wrong. He threw half a game in 2 innings. The next time Joe wants to ruin a pitchers arm, just pick up a bat a slug him on his pitching shoulder. Yes, Park was also to blame, but, you don’t allow a RP to throw 51 pitches in 2 innings. The next time we have a blow out, see if he’ll allow Joba to throw 51 pitches in 2 innings – I don’t think so.
NYC has the The Songwriters Hall of Fame.

Oops.
Bobby D has nothing to do with that particular museum.
He probably should though.
Here’s the correct link

I was wrong about Tampa!
http://www.floridaboxinghalloffame.com/
Park has thrown over 30 pitches 8 times, including 44 and 39 in consecutive appearances.
I doubt he’s going to see Dr. Andrews tomorrow.
St Pete’s got the Dali Museum. Very cool and just 5 minutes from The Trop.
With park girardi did not wan’t to use another pitcher with the tampa series starting tomorrow & park should not of needed 51 pitches with such a big lead but safety first.
I imagine girardi probably said too bad he is going to finish it unless the indians got close.
Heard Salvador Dali has some great work but never been. Several new museams in DT Tampa on Ashleigh Drive
Just catching up. Looks like I missed the fireworks.
Frozen Rope,
You calling Park a bum doesn’t change my opinion of Park (or of you).
Last 162 games, Yankes 107-57. Wow.
“Meanwhile, Baseball America posted a list of ten prospects who have increased their stock since the start of June (sub. req’d). Jesus Montero (“A scout who saw Montero this month didn’t see the outstanding raw power than Montero has shown in the past, but noted that Montero consistently drove the ball into the gaps even if he did bail on the breaking ball on occasion.”) came in at number two, David Phelps (“His secondary stuff is fringy, but he mixes a slurvy curveball, a short slider and a change with solid sink and throws them all for strikes, making him an option for the back of the rotation or middle-relief work.”) at number eight”.
“Oh, and David Adams? Turns out it was a broken ankle. That explains why he’s been out so long”.
Park is not a 1 inning pitcher. He has been used for multiple innings this year. And last year as a phillie he was used for multiple innings. The guy had a decent pitch count until he had 2 outs in the 9th. The guy just lost it. He has been awful this year. I dont blame Girardi for not taking him out. Its a joke Boone Logan even had to start warming up.
Park would have been out of the inning if girardi did not put thames at 3rd base right???
taqlk to me about mosely after 3 starts sheep. again podsednik had a good series against the yanks so all the sheep want to get podsednik..
like the other 150 games do not count.
girardi was a jack a-s tonight on how he treated Park. Gaudin could not pitch better then Park if Park pitched lefty….
park has only be good in 1 inning stints this year. look at the #’s……….
i cant get too worked up about park throwing that many pitches…
stuart,
Is sheep your form of tribute to Mr. Dustin Moseley?
In and Out Burgers for Phil sound much more appetizing
Park had a 44 pitch, 2 inning outing against Cleveland in May and 30 of the pitches were in the 9th inning.
I don’t remember people accusing Girardi of abuse then.
Park has a 5.86 era and Gaudin has a 4.97 era as a yankee this year. And Gaudin pitched well last year. Gaudin fills a role of being a long man and pitching garbage innings. Park has failed at his role. He needs to be DFA and Albaledejo should be recalled.
