Lance Berkman said Andy Pettite was a huge part of his decision to waive his no-trade to come to the Yankees.
He’s not sure how often he’ll play, but he said it’s his understanding that he might bat second initially.
Most improved team: Rangers

My father gave his stamp of approval for Berkman; he said he’s always liked him……plus, he remembers when the Yankees used to make these moves all the time (bringing in aging vets and hoping being with a contender would help). He used Johnny Mize as an example

Why would Girardi take Swisher out of the 2 hole. Swisher is a better hitter right now that Berkman. Berkman should be hitting 7th or 8th in this lineup.

I’d rather Swisher hit 2nd and Berkman 6th, but whatever.
Berkman fits in that he’s a patient hitter which the lineup has many of to Girardi’s liking. Another player to drive up pitch counts on opposing pitchers. Everything to like about it.
Sanchez is not being traded to the Red Sox for Ramirez.
There was a time when I wanted the Yankees to get Berkman to replace Bernie in CF.

We’ll have to see how much gas in the tank berkman still has but one thing he will give us are patient professional at bats.

Rich, the Yanks just added 3 players for 5 million dollars. That is not excessive. Any other team in baseball could have added Kearns and his 300k or Wood and his 1.5 mil (indians picking up rest of money owed him). Stop acting like the Yanks just added 15 mil of salary.
Ninja Cash did his thing, IMO , gave up nothing and bought low… we will see.

Farnsworth’s finale for the Braves was giving up a meltdown… grand slam to Lance Berkman in the playoffs.

I know the Braves needed another outfield bat, but Ankiel is not a good player at all.
