Who the hell are those people?
I didn’t win
As Butch and Sundance said “who are those guys?”
Does anyone else want to yell “DO OVER!”
“Who the hell are those people?”
Too funny, not one of those people post here regularly.
Ugh. No Cano ball for me.
Who are those people anyway?????

Does anyone else want to yell “DO OVER!”
Yeah
Sad that none of the regulars won.
Never seen these people on the blog.
i’ve only seen two of those people ever post.
“Who the hell are those people?”
Have to say you sure know the drawing was random as I have never seen ANY of those people post in the few years this blog has been going. Congratulations to all. I find it very funny that someone named Angel Berroa won the Yogi Berra ball.
wait…does this mean Erin and esmee aren’t going to fight it out for the Cano ball?
Well, at least the blogmasters rewarded the masses that joined the blog, probably never to be heard from again.
Good job.
Should have rigged it to reward those who drive this place.

Poor Erin
Good to see Angel Berroa finally won something, it’s been a long time since he got to enjoy the spoils of the victory parade with the 1927 Yankees.
In all seriousness, how does not 1 blog regular get a ball? Tons of lurkers must have registered just to be in the running for one of these.

Would people have thought the fix was in if I won? LOL
Angel Berroa wins

Can we see pictures of these impostors with the balls for authentication?
Sunny Beach !
Attn jeff_chernoff,
That’s my Marcus Thames ball. Watch your back!
Oh well. It was fun wishing.
Congratulation to the winner-lurkers.
damn… i wanted that marcus thames ball!
lol, hilarious. regulars got jipped.
Guess what?
This thread will probably go over 1000 hits.
Mission accomplished.
Bah Humbug.

I should! I’ve never seen hhd post anything either.

I do not think I have ever seen someone write KEWL on this blog.
man chip, really going with the a lineup eh?
aw Erin, I feel worse for you not winning than I do for me not winning

I thought employees and their relatives were disqualified from winning.
Thanks, Kate! LOL
Who won the LGY ball?
From the last thread: I was thinking last night also about Beckett and Pedro and how they each had early success against the Yankees but once they saw them enough it totally flipped.
With Pedro I think it was more his stuff diminishing than anything else as Pedro in his prime was truly a great great pitcher. With Beckett I think its a little of both…his stuff doesn’t seem to be what it used to and the Yanks have learned his tendancies.
Beckett’s career to me is very comparable to AJ’s, he just gets credit for being a better pitcher because of a few big games he has pitched.
kewl or not, I would never ignore you GB
Sox line-up
Scutaro SS, Drew RF, Martinez C, Ortiz DH, Beltre 3B, Lowell 1B, Kalish LF, Hall 2B, Ellsbury CF
Maybe they can re-run the contest and give those frauds the forged autographs.
Give the real ones to the real people.
At least one of them.
Once again the impostors win.
This sucks!
Fixed I tell ya!
I think they’re all CR9.
ANNOUCEMENT-
Person who offers me the most money starting right now, will get an extra special ERICA signed ball!
Let the bidding begin
Maybe those guys are pennames for Chad et al.
too bad no regular posters won. Altho, they could have registered uder multiple names… but it’s doubtful…
I dunno about you guys, but it feels a little hollow.
As long as I win the authentic dented water cooler damaged by Paul O’Neill after a strikeout, I will be happy.

awww..thanks kate. Very disappointing.
That Jacoby Ellsbury, the next elite CF in the AL. How is that working out again for the Sox? I’ve been Rip Van Winkle asleep since 2007, and am assuming he’s won multiple Gold Gloves, competed for the batting title and stolen 200 bases each season. Right?
Erica in NY August 9th, 2010 at 10:48 am
Well, if you deliver it to me in person, then I will bid for you!
I think they’re all CR9.

Either that or Sam’s newborn.
Andrew August 9th, 2010 at 10:50 am
He was beat out by a better RSox prospect named Lars! LOL!
Okay, Erica – I bid negative one dollar, and you pay the postage

I know how you feel, Erin. I wanted that ball just as bad as you did
Ray you mean Lars Anderson, the next Justin Morneau-caliber 1B? I figured he has already won the Pedroia Rookie of the Year/MVP/Gritty Superman of the Century trifecta. But I can’t find his name on the Red Sox roster…surprising since their starting first baseman is out for the year, maybe he’s just taking a little mid-season vacation from dominating the league.
They should have done a reverse basketball lottery for the balls –
give the blogger with the most posts since registration the highest percentage to win, all the way up to the 10th – and everyone else gots the same percentage to win..
Question for all you junior Yankee GM’s out there..
Once Andy Pettite comes back I’m guessing it’ll be Chad Gaudin’s swag song..
But what about when Damaso Marte comes back? If Booney keeps pitching the way he has you can’t possibly send him down…can you…Sergio Mitre maybe??
And what about if Aceves comes back (i know a long shot)? I know this is a good problem to have but do you really want to mess with what seems to be working all of a sudden?
Here is where I fall on the “booing” issue.
I’m fine with anyone doing anything in a group that they’d do individually. This seems like a simple guide to life for me.
If you’d boo a player one-on-one, to his face, then I’m okay with you booing them from a crowd.
I generally can’t think of any conduct that even the people doing it would freely admit they’d ONLY do under the cowardly, anonymous safety a distance mob that I’d personally advocate.
If someone wants to defend this aspect of “booing”, I have an open mind.
I doubt anyone will, however.
Actual names of winners
EyeRis: Derek Jeter – MIKE FRANCESA
Floridayankee: Alex Rodriguez (2009 World Series ball) – the real PETE ABE HAM
yonkel21: Mariano Rivera – MIKE LOOPICA
bartap: Andy Pettitte – TOM VERDUCCI
hhd: Robinson Cano – PETER GAMMONS (now he has autograph of baseball’s best 2d bman)
Boston Jim: Brett Gardner WALLY MATTHEW
treid23: Reggie Jackson – REGGIE JACKSON (who else loves himself that much)
mark_yankee4life: Whitey Ford (with “CY 61? inscribed) – SWEENEY MURTI
Angel Berroa: Yogi Berra – GOD
jeff_chernoff: Marcus Thames – WHO’S HE?
Drawing should have been based on the number of comments within the contest period — the more you commented, the more entries you had in the drawing.
I still wouldn’t have won. But maybe we’d see an Erica or an SJ44 or someone familiar.
I’m not liking this day. No Cano ball, it’s like 100 degrees in my office which is causing my hair to go all frizzy and I can’t watch the game since I’m stuck at work.
Erica, ill pay you one million dollars for it lol haha
I think that everyone who has won a ball should make a cameo on here and write something, maybe a quick acceptance speech and a thank you to their agents, publicists, a “Big UP” to GOD himself (the creator not the closer), and of course their families…
Why would mariano rivera want an autographed Yogi ball?

They had two lefties last yr in the playoffs, I think you;ll see that agian (if Marte comes back). I agre that Gaudin will be gone. If Ace comes back healthy that will end Mitre or Moseley’s playoff hopes. They wont take 3 long men. But those are two big if’s regarding Marte and Ace.
GB-very funny list.

YAY! If I say “deal”, we totally have a binding contract
Erin, it’s better that your hair goes all frizzy at work than seeing you go all frizzy on here about not winning the Cano ball. That just wouldn’t be pretty.
lol
The funny part is i bet none of those people will even post in this thread or even check this website today to see that they won. Nice.

Interesting article from si.com about why the Rays keep getting no-hit, or almost no-hit…..
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.c.....index.html
Congrats to all the winner. Glad to know there is a ton of people out there who just read the blog and rarely (if ever) comment here.
To be honest, I think I remember some of these people posting before…they must have been shouted away quickly.
Examples:
- mark_yankee4life
- Angel Berroa
- Floridayankee
- Boston Jim
Maybe I am just going crazy though…
Or maybe it is sows if Chads father is a hog farmer.
Erin-
So sorry. I was really pulling for you.
It is sad that not even one regular got a ball.
Would someone with ESPN Insider please tell me what Ortiz’s reasons for so many near no-hitters is.

LOL Erica! I am actually in the Charlotte NC area!
I would have bet that Gardner played and Granderson sat. Not a bad day for Gardner to take a breather though.
Erin-
Unfortunately, a little bit worse today.
Thanks for asking.
There’s no justice in the world if you or esmee didn’t get that ball.
The person who won it should surrender to you immediately.
Or at least offer you a chance to purchase it for a reasonable price.
I can dream can’t I ?

I was one of those before registration. Although I’m probably not considered a regular now, I’ll get there.
I wonder – had I not posted, would I have won?
pat,
I saw this quote on HardballTalk from Ortiz about the size of the strike zone:
“Swinging at all kinds of [stuff]. That’s what you’ve got to do. Swing, swing, swing, swing and good luck. Of course, you have to, man. It’s killing the game. We’ve got to rush as a hitter.”
I thought the last line was very telling…
I’m really sorry that the regular posters didn’t get a piece of the action, but I do want to say I’m not a total newb here. I’ve been a dedicated lurker for a few years now and even post once every blue moon.

maybe the knee is feeling better. Always like the lineup better when Jorge is catching. Gardner has been struggling lately…Lester isn’t likely to help that much.

Lol interesting theory, unfortunately no way for us to test it now…but a new conspiracy is born.
New Post w/lineup
I don’t mind Gardner getting a day. His bat has been really slow lately. He could probably use a day.
Love that Jorge is catching 3 days in a row. They need Jorge to catch and if he can’t catch 3 out of every 4 days, that’s a huge plus for the Yankees.
BostonJim,
Don’t know if you realized this, but I’m a big, gulp, Celtics fan if you want to trade something for that GGBG ball.
Congrats to the winners. You should post more often.

Haha. I think I’m keeping the gardner ball. Ill put it next to the others.
Thanks a ton. Long-time reader and very occasional poster.
Feels good to finally win again. Some people may not realize, I was once a teammate of Yogi’s.
