Chad you do a great job. I love the work from Marc as well. His twitter updates are great throughout the games. Funny guy.

Frankie behind the plate again, at least no one will try to “steal center field” tonight.

just got back home from KC. pretty disappointing series although the trip was pretty fun. waited out the rain delay friday with the help of some special beverages with the guys which definitely wasn’t worth it haha. still can’t believe they got 2 hit by bryan freakin’ bullington. the guy was at 91 on the stadium gun and was rarely mixing in an offspeed pitch. he also wasn’t ahead of the count as much as the Yanks have made it sound. Really disappointing game especially considering Burnett held it together despite Cervelli continuing his terrible defense.

Berkman must be not feeling well.
Today would be the ideal time to have him DH, not Posada.

Just makes me mad that Berkman turned his ankle yesterday vs. the royals.

  12. Bret The Hitman August 16th, 2010 at 4:54 pm

    Posada is cooked it seems.

or Posada could have caught , leaving DH spots to Thames, Kearns, but I am sure G has his reasons. I think Scherzer is pretty tough on righties. DH thames and Kearns might be only marginal upgrade than Cerv, since chances are neither of those are going to hit Scherzer well.
so. PUma would have been ideal, except he pounced on the wrong animal yesterday.

  16. Warning Track Power August 16th, 2010 at 5:00 pm

against a hard throwing righty, i would not start thames or kearns at DH.
Berkman is hurt-leave him on the bench.
insert Posada at DH and Cervelli behind the plate.

    pretty simple.

“You boys are suddenly making young Erica look like an angel. The worst thing I ever did was show off my art skills all over the walls with magic marker”

I once spray painted our dog, Muppet, green.

And I once dug a moat around the backyard-which compromised the foundation of our home.

Needless to say, I didn’t see much sun that summer.

thank g-d cervelli is catching. he only has 9 errors and is hitting under 250 with zero power. but hey he has a lot of energy……….

  22. Tyler August 16th, 2010 at 5:05 pm

    Warning Track-

To be honest the play that Berkman got hurt didn’t even look that bad. Watching Berkman live, he just doesn’t seem to be very coordinated or nimble. I thought he would get up fine but he must have just rolled his ankle or something. That entire game was so bad that I just want to get it out of my head. Being there was embarrassing…

  23. hardwired7 August 16th, 2010 at 5:07 pm

at the risk of sounding like a ‘negative poster’, I have to say enough w/Francisco Cervelli.

    the #s don’t lie:

    17% caught stealing

    .248 BA

    .307 Slugging

    9 errors

the system is replete w/catching prospects, but I guess we’ll have to wait a year or so before any of them see the light of day in NY.

  24. Niblick August 16th, 2010 at 5:07 pm

How about playing a catcher who can actually hit? Cervelli’s glove hasn’t been looking too great lately either.

  25. Drivenbyjeter2 August 16th, 2010 at 5:08 pm

I’m sorry, cervelli was great at the beginning of the season but he’s just horrible now. Even his defensive upside is no longer there.

I would much rather have Montero up and catching 2 or 3 games out of the 5 in a rotation sequence. That’s what they did with posada with Joe girardi. They eased him into the starting roll and playoffs.

I think they can use a young spark right now down the stretch!

  27. Andrew August 16th, 2010 at 5:09 pm

To be fair to Cervelli, his arm is just so darn strong that he can’t help but overthrowing 2nd base. He’s used to play Super Major League Baseball where the 2nd base bag is 20 feet further back. He’s just playing an even more complicated game than the rest of his teammates, to the point that only hitting .250 and not having hardly any extra base hits on the year is actually very positive.

  29. UnKnown August 16th, 2010 at 5:12 pm

Tyler – I second all your posts. Being at the Big K myself over the weekend, the Yankees were really disappointing to watch. However, Saturday’s game was truly unreal to be at with the show that Alex put on. That made the trip worth it in my mind.
As for yesterday it is one thing watching that mess on T.V. another thing when you are there in person. I am glad that Girardi was more upset than usual with that performance yesterday. The players definitely need to be aired out a little after that disgrace. Bullington should not ever ever shut down a Yankee team to the extent that he did yesterday.
Have to turn the page and have a terrific homestand starting tonight. Go Yanks.

  34. Cashmoney August 16th, 2010 at 5:18 pm

the reality is that yanks has two of the worst offensive players in MLB on their 25 man roster. Cervelli and Pena, I understand they are part time and fill in player, but when you have 210 million dollar team , there simply isn’t any good reason to have those two on the roster if you strive for the best 25 man roster possible. Cashman fail to address catching / back up infielder during the deadline for whatever reasons.
    that is pretty much that.

btw, Bonk’s adventure was possibly one of the greatest video game ever for the short lived Neo Geo gaming system.

So.. nobody remembers the travesty that was Jeters first call up? The errors, the lack of power, the ineffectivenss at the plate? I’m not calling Cervi the next Jeter, but give the Guy a chance to improve.
