Still no Yankees lineup here in Toronto. Also no sign of Nick Swisher. Wonder if those two things could be related.
Joe Girardi could be waiting to check on his right fielder before deciding on a lineup.

Alex was the better player, no doubt. But Jeter is one of the 3 or 4 best SS’s of ALL time in his own right. Don’t diminish that fact. Arod got 250 mil…Jeter got 190. That’s a 60 mil difference. That’s a lot of money. And, if you believe in those sites that tell you what a player is worth, Jeter has basically earned the 190 mil over the life of the contract (I think they have his value a tad under 190 over that span).

no i don’t believe those player is worth, the market determines what a player is worth.
I am diminishing Jeter by saying Alex is great.
Jeter can very well be the 3 or 4 top SS of all time, Alex will be in the convo of 3 or 4 greatest player of all time period. if he had continue play SS for the yanks, you can made a claim he is the greatest player period this side of babe herman ruth.

Once they start negotiations, the Yankees and Jeter will get a deal done quickly. It won?t be public and it won?t be ugly.

Agreed.
Some of you will like this:
Nick (Connecticut): Is the Yankees farm system in the top 15?
Jim Callis: Yes. It takes a lot of time to break down all the systems and rank them against each other, but I’m confident enough to say the Yankees should rank in the top 10.

“After statements such as ?The Tigers are the team I?ve always wanted to play for.?, I don?t believe anything that comes out of Damon?s mouth.”
I hear that comment every time I listen to the ESPN Baseball Podcast. It’s too ridiculous to get upset about. He was saying that to appease the fans. The DET fans know that he was lying and they don’t hold it against him. I’m not going to hold it against him either.

Exactly. It was to appease the fans. And management. And so was his statement about favoring the Yankees. Everything he says is PR. So there’s no reason to get excited about his statement regarding the Yanks/RS.
Wang and Hughes are not really comparable. From injury history to stuff and long term projectibility of those injuries and stuff.
Even the simple fact that Cash prefers pitchers with swing and miss stuff because of how that plays in the postseason.
Using Wang to say Hughes won’t be extended is misguided.
Even if we were to grant that premise one player does not make a rule. There is no precedent for a pitcher like Hughes
