CC Sabathia hadn’t allowed five runs in a game since May 29, but on a night he and the bullpen finally struggled, the Yankees lineup stepped up for a 12-9 win in Chicago. The Yankees hadn’t scored 12 runs since July 25, and they did it this time without Mark Teixeira, who left after two innings because of a bruised thumb. Eduardo Nunez had four RBI, two of them on his first career home run. Marcus Thames had two home runs and has now homered in three straight starts. Nick Swisher hit a home run for a second straight day.
