Just got this email from the Yankees…

Tests performed this afternoon by a neurology specialist at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital were negative. Physicians have cleared Posada for competitive play and he is listed as day-to-day.

well i guess this answers the question about Montero coming up.

  2. Kelvin September 8th, 2010 at 5:54 pm

Damn we all got excited haha.

  3. Tom in N.J. September 8th, 2010 at 5:56 pm

    Good news on Jorge.

  4. ac1 September 8th, 2010 at 5:57 pm

if there was a way to get him up, i still think he should be here. with posada day to day, cervelli will have to start. He and Moeller are no threat to hit. Montero may not be ready for MLB pitching, but he is certainly a threat until the pitchers prove otherwise.

So now why isnt he starting tonight? At the least he would have been able to start tonight and then fly to texas. hope he isnt hurt.

I put something out in an earlier thread wondering if it was possible that Jeter was losing his focus because of his relationship with Minka Kelly. It was just a thought and I think I wondered about it when I saw a picture of them together at the US Open and am figuring this relationship is probably “the one”. He’s playing poorly yet still hanging out with her in the meantime. I think it’s unlike what he did in past seasons when he had girlfriends. And now he’s selling his NY apartment which leads me to wonder where he will live when the Yanks play at home.

Anyway, I just saw this comment after the story about Minka freaking out on the flight to LAX.

“This asshat is why Jeter is full of suckitude this year. She’s like his kryptonite. Dump her Jetes. She’s acting like a mental case. And we need you to stop grounding into fu*king double plays.”

I guess I’m not the only one wondering.

since the yankees are basically set for the playoffs, dont you have to sit posada? Can they risk a collision, or another foul ball off the helmet if he is not completely 100%?

I know the offense is in their bad zone right now, but the playoffs are all but a guarantee so maybe they should let posada sit and get healthy.

Jeter is getting married this offseason so it appears she is “the one.”

This is such a dumb topic. People tend to get creative when they desperately want someone to blame.

He was with the same chick last year and had one of his best seasons.

Not sure that you want any connection to the idiot that wrote that, Trisha. Don’t give the 4 jerks on here any ammo.

  9. Doreen September 8th, 2010 at 6:03 pm

Well, Jeter was involved with the same girlfriend last season, and she was around quite a bit, and he had a great season last year.

He’s just having a bad year.

  10. Tom in N.J. September 8th, 2010 at 6:05 pm

Who was Jeter dating when he, arguably, had the best season of his career last year, someone else?

    Same chick. Minka Kelly.

    Tricia, women weaken legs !!!

  13. Tom in N.J. September 8th, 2010 at 6:09 pm

    ” Tricia, women weaken legs !!! ”

    And bank accounts!

    /Ducks….

  14. Crawdaddy September 8th, 2010 at 6:09 pm

    “Tricia, women weaken legs !!!”

They weaken more than their legs.

  15. LGY September 8th, 2010 at 6:11 pm

Buck Showalter forced all the Orioles with girlfriends to dump them. That’s why they are playing so well now.

  16. upstate kate September 8th, 2010 at 6:15 pm

Finally got home to see the highlights. I couldn’t get game day to work, and checking here for comments was depressing to say the least.

From what I saw, Nova looked good. He seems to have a good mound presence for such a young pitcher. And how can you not love Swish (and Alex for getting on base ahead of him)

red sox must be waving the white flag to put Wakie in vs Garza

  17. Yogi Mantle September 8th, 2010 at 6:17 pm

upstate kate… watch Wakefield shut them down. This year has been quite odd with how teams have been doing against no-so-good pitchers.

“Buck Showalter forced all the Orioles with girlfriends to dump them. That’s why they are playing so well now.”

Does that mean Nick Markakis is available???!!!!

  19. upstate kate September 8th, 2010 at 6:20 pm

    Yogi Mantle
certainly possible, but I think Wakie is more effective against teams that don’t know him as well as the AL east…and if I am wrong, someone will be sure to correct me :)

  20. upstate kate September 8th, 2010 at 6:21 pm

umm Laura…couldn’t you have checked into that before the series? and maybe brought Brian Roberts along on a double date?

  21. theREALkevin September 8th, 2010 at 6:22 pm

wow, the O’s hadn’t swept the Yanks in the Bronx since 1986. really glad that streak is still active.

  22. GreenBeret7 September 8th, 2010 at 6:28 pm

Laura, you’ll have get to Markakis before the board degenerate/pervert does.

  23. Bronx Jeers September 8th, 2010 at 6:31 pm

Maybe’s he’s not seeing her enough and that’s the problem.

Just as likely if you think about it.

Honestly though it’s not our business anyway.

And I know Mickey famously said that “Women weaken legs!” but if that were really true then ARod would probably have about 300 less career home runs.

  24. trisha - true pinstriped blue September 8th, 2010 at 6:36 pm

    :)

Well, arguably the relationship is much stronger now than it was last year.

    Anyway, just a thought.

And yes, women can and do weaken men, well they leave them feeling weak is what I’m trying to say. We all know what’s it’s like when that love bug bites. Even if in retrospect we question what the heck we were thinking at the time, when it’s happening everything is brighter, happier, zestier, etc. etc. etc.

I remember telling my ex in a weak moment that it didn’t matter where he wanted to move, I was there. And I’m sure I meant it when I said it! However, when it came time to pay the piper, I decided that my bond to my large Italian family cut out all of the places he wanted to move. Needless to say, he wasn’t happy and I don’t blame him a bit.

    Oh well.

    :)

  26. GreenBeret7 September 8th, 2010 at 6:41 pm

The best part of that is etc. etc. etc.

  27. Crawdaddy September 8th, 2010 at 6:42 pm

Or Arod could have 300 more career home runs if he abstained.

  28. MTU September 8th, 2010 at 6:42 pm

    Jeers-

In an earlier thread you asked where my travels were taking me this time.

Did you happen to see my response ?

  29. Pat M. September 8th, 2010 at 6:46 pm

GB….I was thinking the same thing about Tricia’s etc. etc. etc……Have you seen her Prom pics ??? Hot toots

  30. trisha - true pinstriped blue September 8th, 2010 at 6:48 pm

“The best part of that is etc. etc. etc.”

    I certainly understand the sentiment!

  31. trisha - true pinstriped blue September 8th, 2010 at 6:51 pm

Oh now you guys are going to make me blush!

    :)

Gotta do a few errands but hopefully will be back to cheer, well I guess to cheer against the Rays. That’s what I should be doing right now, right? I can’t bring myself to cheer for their competition but I can certainly hope that the Rays lose. And yes I have the ability to do that without cheering on their competition. Oh well, I’ve never tried it before. Ill see how it all works out!

  32. Bronx Jeers September 8th, 2010 at 6:52 pm

    MTU,

No. I had to go to work.

I hope you’re not going to head-shrinking country though.

  33. trisha - true pinstriped blue September 8th, 2010 at 6:52 pm

Pat M, that was actually a picture of me when one of my brothers got married.

    :)

    Later y’all

  34. GreenBeret7 September 8th, 2010 at 6:55 pm

Pat M., haven’t seen her prom pix, only the three at the ballgame. I assume she was the middle hottie. Maybe she’ll let me take her to her senior prom deux. I’ll even wear my gamer and teeth.

  35. MTU September 8th, 2010 at 6:55 pm

    Jeers-

Nope. I don’t think the Anasazi shrunk heads.

Off to see some more Indian ruins (no, Not Cleveland). :)

  36. Pat M. September 8th, 2010 at 6:58 pm

GB…I always kid her about it being her Prom picture….

  37. Rishi September 8th, 2010 at 6:58 pm

    Post game thread up…

  38. GreenBeret7 September 8th, 2010 at 7:02 pm

Not sure why she catches so much grief. she has some different ideas about things, but, certainly not the over the top garbage spewed by the ones that dog her on here. I don’t agree with all things she says, but, she’s far from being a troll that a couple of those are that trash her.
