Remember when I said it was a safe bet that Derek Jeter would play today? Nevermind.
Brett Gardner LF
Nick Swisher RF
Mark Teixeira 1B
Alex Rodriguez 3B
Robinson Cano 2B
Lance Berkman DH
Curtis Granderson CF
Ramiro Pena SS
Francisco Cervelli C
Hate to see the captain like this. I hope the rest does him good.
I’m fine with this………..Jetes needs a break.
fatal attraction betsy has her anti hughes shoes on today. nut case
I can’t say I’m surprised. His knee must be pretty sore.
Ledger_Yankees Jeter on the couch, watching Michigan-Notre Dame. But not in the lineup. Keep in mind the foul ball off his right knee last night.
Blame the foul ball off the knee from last night and give him a day or 2.
The Yankees better hope that all of their playoff games are during the day. They are a terrible team at night.
day/night
CC: 2.67/3.51
Andy: 2.08/3.64
Tex: 1.017 OPS/.783 OPS
winning this game today with AJ on the mound will be HUGE….GO YANKEES !
Older team. Vision is going from bad to worse. Lawd help us.
Riding home from Blacksburg with some very sad Hokie fans
Really can’t wait to get Posada back in the line-up.
blake
Alot of sad Boise St fans also as I think VT was the only BCS team on their schuedule.
Phil,
Very true.
Posada? Are you kidding? He was 0-1 last night.
I think it is a terrific idea to sit Jeter for a game and Posada again. Better be safe than sorry.

Tricia, well written and well thought out piece…..I guess the roller coaster effect of 162 games is too much for many here and their tummy’s…..Get to October and go from there…I do think getting home field is real important though…..Real important

Agree
Ca$hman should really try to sign John Buck this offseason.
Yanks need a catch with power who can start 80 games next year.
eboland11 Pettitte will start Tues with Trenton. Said plan if all goes well is for him to start the following Sunday in Baltimore
Jacob: Wouldn’t Posada have had a day off today anyway with AJ pitching?

I like the way you think.
I think the general thinking here is not too far off the mark. How many times in the last couple of weeks have you thought, “gee, does Girardi read the Lohud blog or something?” I know it’s just co-inky-dink, but it makes me smile nonetheless.
Glad Jeter is getting at least this night off. Perhaps another day and then see?
ARod being injured and out a lot this season cost Girardi a lot of flexibility with both Jeter and Cano, and both of them are showing the results of that.
All in all, I am very happy with this team, no matter the outcome. I think they are battlers. I think that many of them HAVE been playing through a lot of minor injuries, not bad enough to sit, but really not easy to play through. There’s been no choice. Also, I feel like as bad as it may seem, when the chips are down, this team does seem to find “something.” Like when Swish got the walk-off the other day. And it means a lot that this team so far has not lost more than 3 in a row and has not been swept at home in a 3- or more game series.
A couple of days ago, I posted the records of the leading teams home and road. My point was that although the Yankees may have less offense on the road, there is only one team doing better on the road. All around, the Yankees seem to dig deep when they need to.
Look, all you can do is get to the playoffs and the play hard and play smart. Girardi’s had some tough decisions and this week hasn’t gone well for him; but overall – and you have to look overall – it’s not a bad position the Yankees find themselves in today.
Doreen, nice post.
LGY -
The stats don’t mean anything unless you post the stats of the teams they may be facing.
Thanks, Betsy.
Hey, nothing’s ever perfect, right?
Doreen,
I was just using those stats to poke fun at the people who are doom and gloom over HFA.
See my post in the last thread.
We need AJ to step up tonight.
I apologize for all the curse words I’ve directed toward AJ this season, albeit in the privacy of my living room.
If he comes through tonight all will be forgiven.
LGY -
Okay. I was out all afternoon and skipped ahead. Thanks.

You can address your comments straight to SJ, as he is the only one that’s been doom and gloom about hfa.
Doreen,
You always say things so well and with a sense of humor. Thanks.

Jeter sits the next 2 days.
Hope he decides to talk to Kevin Long -
