Swisher running the bases

Posted by: Chad Jennings - Posted in Misc on Sep 17, 2010 Print This Post Print This Post | Email This Post Email This Post

Just minutes ago, with manager Joe Girardi, trainer Steve Donohue and strength coordinator Dana Cavalea standing around the cage, Nick Swisher broke out of the box and ran to first base looking much better than he did on Monday. He then went first to third. When Swisher got 90 feet from the plate, the whole group came off the field.

Swisher still seems to be favoring his left leg — it’s more noticeable when he walks than when he runs — and I couldn’t tell whether the group had seen enough to put him in the lineup or had seen enough to give him one more day off. We’ll find out soon, but if nothing else, Swisher looked better than we’ve seen him in the past week and a half.

Also, there’s expected to be an announcement before tonight’s Dodgers game that Don Mattingly will replace Joe Torre as manager next season.

Girardi always goes to the side of ‘caution’, Swisher sits.

    Congratulations to Don Mattingly!

The Yankees ought to announce before Monday’s game, as a tribute to George Steinbrenner, that Joe Girardi will NOT return as Yankees’ manager.

MTU – um, um, um, um, uh

Well before we set out let me tell you what your obstacles are going to be. MLB has a right to have a voluntary affirmative action plan whereby their teams can hire members of protected classes who have been left out of their workforce. With a voluntary affirmative action plan, they only have the right to get to the point where they are maintaining representative percentages but not exceeding them. (Johnson v Santa Clara)

At that point you would have a stronger case for a discrimination suit based on gender (we don’t call it reverse discrimination since discrimination is discrimination ya know.)

You need to be aware of these things before I take your money, er case. Think about it and get back to me.

    Trisha-

    Case closed.

    Response in the previous thread.

By the way, did you ever get a chance to browse the photos ? :)

MTU – caveat. All positions are fair game. So finding that the Yankees have more women than men working (if that were to be the case) but finding them clustered in the lower-paying positions (no!!!!) won’t help your case. But we’re friends so of course I’ll take your case! Postseason tickets are pricey and I could use some extra income…

    Trisha-

Since we’re friends I assume your fees would be perfectly reasonable but no matter as I have decided not to persue the case. :)

MTU – breathtakingly beautiful. Seeing them almost made me sad because it made me want to see the places in person. You take beautiful photos, and you find beautiful locales.

Will any new ones automatically get added to your site?

Since you’ve decided not to pursue the case I might as well tell you I was going to be willing to do it for the bubble, and with creative defenses (you know I am nothing if not creative…) seminal cases have been known to be overturned!

But no matter. You’ve made your decision and I respect it.

    :D

why would we not want girardi to return?

you better get ready for 10 more years of the girardi legacy…
