Sabathia finally gets No. 20
There is a 20-game winner in the Major Leagues, and it’s CC Sabathia. The Yankees ace finally reached the milestone with an 11-3 win tonight in Baltimore. He is the first pitcher to reach 20 wins this season, and it’s the first time he’s reached 20 wins in his career. The Yankees backed him by scoring in seven of nine innings. They got a two-run home run from Robinson Cano and a three-run homer from Curtis Granderson. Brett Gardner had three hits.

Congrats, CC!
Nice, easy win for the Yankees…………
Golson forgot about it being CC’s 20th and he threw the last ball into the stands………….
The Yankees Magic Number to clinch the division is now 15

Congratulations CC!!!!!!!!!
Hi Betsy…
===================================
Hooray for CC
Saltalamacchia, the next great Red Sox catcher:
Season 24 .167 0 2 .625
Remember when Doc Halladay was going to win 30?
Remember with Ubaldo Jimenez already had 15 wins in April?
But who is the game’s first 20-game winner!
Two-time Warren Spahn award winner CC Sabathia, that’s who!
I am completely surprised they were able to pull this one out against the Orioles, the likely AL Pennant winners.
Angels have lots of pitchers I’ve never heard of.
Hey SAS
How are you tonight?
Congrats to CC! Just need a couple insurance wins.
Nice to have Brett back. And hitting.
Nick,
Where do you go to dinner to celebrate CC?
Leadoff double.
Betsy,
Good thanks and you. Happy for CC as we all are on here…I hope.
Congrats CC!
Swisher and Gardner do make a significant difference to this team. Having them both in the lineup really helps the offense go.
CC should have a legit and realistic shot at 300 wins if he stays healthy. He needs 144…so if he just averages 15 a season then he should get there in around 9 and a half seasons…
LAA gonna blow it unless Maddon tries to get too cute.
1 Adam 12 – CC the man!
Congratulations to CC! Hard to believe he’s the first African-American pitcher to win 20 since Dontrelle Willis five years ago, and only the second since Dave Stewart last won 20 in 1990, twenty years ago.
I really hope that the Angels win tonight.
I have a great picture to commemorate #14
I don’t have a particular CC celebration, although I did pass within 5 miles of his hometown of Vallejo this afteroon.
I did have an all-you-can-eat brunch buffet in Reno this morning, does that count as a pre-celebration?
An IBB would’ve been nice. Especially at 3-0.
Let’s not bring race into this blog.
Especially NASCAR.
OK.
Great work CC.
Here’s part one of your 20th win tribute.
You deserve the best, and I want to honor your accomplishment te best way I can.

Enjoy.
Walk Crawford here set up the force at home. cmon genius Scossia.
Nick,
LOL…I don’t like watching cars going in ovals.
ok my bad. One more out here.
SAS, I’m glad CC didn’t have to wait like Mussina did, lol
Hope they saved some runs and timely hitting for Andy tomorrow.
Beautifully played by Mike. Now ibb this monster. Loving it.
Trenton lost, 5-2. Altoona is the Eastern League champs. Now, it’ll probably be a couple of days before finding out if Banuelos is hurt or not after getting hit by a line drive in the back of his left shoulder.
Here’s the final box score. Tampa Yanks won their league title. Trenton and scranton finish as runner ups in their leagues.

I just saw CC and Amber Sabathia on another Toyota of Vallejo commercial.
That’s something too.

Um a black 20 game winner is rare.

Never watched DTV MLB Game Mix before. VERY cool.
Still not happy thaat I don’t have the Rays on Extra Innings. Don’t understand it unless the stations that cover those games are covering some other sport – or something.
Molina just picked off Kalish at 1B for the second out in the ninth.
a championship and two runner ups is a pretty darn good year down on the farm. Hope Banuelos is OK? Will Brackman be called up now?
“one of the best teams since August 3rd.”

MTU,
Those are quite fabulous!!! Great tribute. If you haven’t sent me there, I would love them/
oh well, Angells will choke in the end.
This just in- Fenway is a joke of a park.
I’m getting the Rays game online.
Big pick off by Jose.
Angels at 3-2, 2 outs, bases loaded, bottom of the 10th in the Trop
yes, they did.
ANGELS!
Angels suck
Jays making their game interesting.
2-0 count on Beltre, bottom of the 9th, 2 out, runner on 3rd…
COME ON GREGG! (talk about the need for ice water in the veins. F’Ortiz is on deck)
Rays win. Crap.
Angels
Oh man
Rays win
Rays win it on an error….they were out of it and he threw it away. …
Don’t know what channel is playing the Rays game. Its not on any regular channel in Tampa which is odd.
at least Sux loses
Boston just lost
Boo!
GAME!
fenway weiners lose
Well we will take care of our own business next week in the Bronx.
On to tomorrow. Still in 1st.
Walk off errors hurt.
MTU..
meant to say these. Thanks
Brandon Wood is hitting .159…you’d think he could at least throw the ball to first.
SAS-
That’s just part 1. I’ll post part 2 in the morning and repost part 1.
I will send you part 1 directly to your e-mail tomorrow.
Banuelos got hurt?
Berkman 0-5?!
Thanks for nothing, Angels.
You stink.

Ovah at the Trop.
Yowza.

Trisha get a MAC.
WCYF, sorry about that. Usually I would have the game on television.
Was kidding with you. I wish you were right!

Banuelos got hurt?
Hit on the neck
Me too.
Thank you so much MTU
Carl, OMG – crap, I hope he’s ok.
Well, it was a great night for the Yanks, a pretty good night otherwise.
Enjoy the rest of the night Y fans. Sleep well.
This is definitely a fun race to be watching.
SAS-
My pleasure.
Nothing but the best for our CC. Our Cy Young, 20 game winning Ace.
Thank Fernando Rodney. 2 outs, nobody on in the ninth and he gives up 3 consecutive hits. Thanks for nothing, meathead.
Rodney is trying to break a record for most blown saves or something. Cut the guy some slack.
Grrrrrrrrrrrrr.
Great win for the boys in gray and navy! Congrats CC. Nite all.
That was one the best games we’ve played in quite some time.
It’s a relief to know we can still score runs in bunches and get contributions from multiple players.
We should have our full-strength lineup tomorrow for Andy. Let’s give the O’s the broom.
Night everyone.
See you all in the Morning.
Magic number to clinch a playoff birth is 7
If things stay on schedule, CC has 2 starts left – Thursday vs. Tampa and the following Tuesday against Toronto.
The final Sunday of the yr against Boston is technically his turn (but there is an off-day before that series, so unless they skip someone, it won’t be CC’s turn). They’ll probably give him an inning in that final game to keep him fresh, but he should have a nice break before the playoff start. Over a week.
SF Giants shooting themselves in the foot… a home series vs. Milwaukee was supposed to be a layup…
