For all the hooplah about the Phillies, they struggled for a long time and didn?t find themselves until sometime in the 2nd half. Once a team gets past the Division Series ? and especially the LCS ? that?s not the same team that may have struggled before the playoffs started. It?s extremely premature to say that the Phillies are going to blow their way through the WS while getting mere token opposition from NL teams or even the AL.
The Twins are pitching Blackburn, with a 5.42 ERA, in game 4; so tell me the Yankees are the only team with concerns, lol
Nice Houdini act by Lee.
Lee and Texas got lucky in the 1st. Bases loaded 1 out, then 2 K’s.
Lee usually gets better as the game goes on. Should be a good one.
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
How lucky is Jeff Francouer? Getting into the post-season after spending a good part of the season with the Mets.
“Much more slimming look than the Rangers unis! lol”
lmao! The pinstripes do make ya look 10 lbs lighter!
__
In the spirit of fairness and honesty, Lee did a good job of getting out of that jam – however, he did so with the cheap call on Pena. Not sure the inning turns out the same if the umpire makes the correct call.
__
Concerned Citizen – I hope you were not addressing me with that Jeter fake comment. I dont think he faked hit, nor do I care whether he faked it. It happens once a game on average, and nobody ever complains. But Jeter is and will be pointed to and referred to whenever such a circumstance arises again – or in the case of Pena, something having nothing to do with the Jeter play.
LOL Doreen… how about Wagner… I think he has a better shot than Francouer to make it further.
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS TWO ZERO
Price aren’t fooling these guys with his fbs..time to adapt AJ!
Geez, even Sam thinks our rotation sucks, lol
I want the Rangers to win. I think the Yanks can beat either team but the Rays team speed concerns me. That being said, the Rangers are a very very good ballclub. Lee is a true ace and their lineup is very solid. The Yanks will really earn a repeat this year as all the clubs (outside of Cincy and Atlanta imo) could easily win it all and are very good clubs.
Personally, I’d just rather face the Rangers next round. Would be a fantastic series…
I forgot about Wagner.
I can’t stand Joe Maddon and his whiny face. I hope the Rays steps on this so called spunky underdog and throttle it to death!
Joe Maddon is evil and whiny!
thanks for the score updates for those of us not near a TV
Have a great time Yanksgal, a cheeseburger and chili sounds good.
Enjoy the game Unknown, don’t forget your Yankee gear
I hope the Rangers !
I’m really not sure which team I want to win this series. Facing Price 2 or 3 times is just as scary as facing Lee.
I don’t care who wins (except for the Yankees of course)
The only teams I really don’t like are the red sox and the angels, and neither of them made the play offs.
By the way, it’s a good thing CR9 isn’t a Rays fan, he’d probably be going on a rampage against Welke right now.
upstate – I agree. I dont like the red sox or angels, however I would never want the rays to win – because then Id have to hear those idiots on the Rays broadcast next year. Also, we Yankees fans should not want the Rangers to win it all because that could lure Lee to stay with Texas.

I agree on those two but the Rays are also on my list. I hate Joe Maddon with a passion. He’s so arrogant and reminds me of a little weasel. Plus, I never really cared for some of their dugout antics and their postgame celebrations where they would celebrate like they won the world series and jump up and down. I do love David Price though…. Great pitcher.
Patrick – Do you think it’d be possible to leave out those comments? Im doing my best to refrain from annoying people and to get along with everyone for the sake of the Yankees. Thanks
Both teams are putting good swings on the ball early. Neither pitcher really has settled in yet. Always seems like in game 1 it takes guys a few innings to settle down. I remember CC let up a couple runs early in game 1 last year vs. Minny before settling down..
CR9, just so we’re clear, that wasn’t an insult towards you. I just know how passionate you are about bad umpiring. And that phantom foul ball was REALLY bad umpiring. I was listening to Francesa when it happened and he flipped out
Oh ok CR9 sorry about that, I didn’t mean it as a jab towards you

Tyler, I have no dog in this show; I don’t care who wins – except the Yankees!
Gameday has Lee getting squeezed on quite a few pitches. According to it the first pitch to Rodriguez was right down the middle and called a ball.
Patrick – Gotcha!
It doesn’t matter to me because if the Yankees are playing well, they can beat anyone.
Later!
Betsy-
I’m not obsessing over it but I think a Yanks-Rangers series would be enjoyable though I think Nolan Ryan is a d-bag also with how he spent so much money this season with other teams picking up the tab. Regardless, I think that would be a better series than Rays-Yanks at least bsaeball wise to watch..
Oh snap better jump in on this one..
Doreen,
My lineup:
Jeter SS
Swisher RF
Teixeira 1B
Rodriguez 3B
Cano 2B
Thames DH
Granderson CF
Posada C
Gardner LF
Equals 1 win for the Yankees
BTW just a thought… I can almost guarantee that a rotation with C.C. and Lee at the top and our offense will get us a ring next year… so if we can just grind it out this year and combine our talent with a little bit of luck… a 3-peat is possible. I dunno why i feel more comfortable about next year than i do about this year. If Pett signs on for another year we will have THREE top lefties(if Andy keeps up his efforts of this year n last year) so then I don’t see how any other team will have a better pitching staff. No not even the Phillies.

CR9,
I don’t think Lee signs with the Rangers even if they win it all. He’s going to hit the market and go wherever the most money is. That place will be the Bronx
Joe West and Tim McClelland would have given runs to the Rays there

the latest episode of Boardwalk empire… the best so far or do you like the premiere better?
Patrick – re Lee: You’re probably right, and I hope you’re right.
The Phillies are a very dangerous team. They slumped for part of the season in part because they had a boatload of injuries, but they peaked the second half, especially after they acquired Oswalt and Hamels started pitching closer to his 2008 form than last year’s.
They are not to be underestimated. I would love to see Cincy knock them off but I don’t think it’s happening. But if they meet the Giants in the NLCS, that could be a great series.

I think that Philly is going to crush Cincy. Just my opinion. I’d love to see Cincy win it too but those Phillies are stacked and really hot right now.
Philly vs. SF would be great though.
Linececum vs. Halladay
Cain vs. Oswalt
Sanchez/Bumgarner vs. Hamels
I heard Joe West and Tim McClelland have their own little Boardwalk Empire
0 Days, 5 Hours, and 51 Minutes until Game 1 of the ALDS
(I believe this is what is known as the “homestretch”… YAY!!!!)
Nelson Cruz crushed that. 3-0 Rangers on a 3-0 meatball from Price.
i heard Johnny Damon is making an appearance at game 1 as a hot dog vendor.
Was listening to Francesa on my way home and he had a Minny announcer on- didn’t catch the name.
Asked him who is pitching best lately for Twins and he said Blackburn. He said Liriano hasn’t been good lately and Duensing doesn’t impress him. Said Pavano has extra incentive because opponent is the Yanks.
He also said Jays hit 10 HRs in Target last week.
I remember Jeter hitting a HR at Target when they played them. Makes me wonder if maybe the park does not play as big as people think or the idea that it does has gotten into some peoples heads.

Really? Never heard of him
pat -
Kind of like how YS got the rep as a “band box.”
They use Mauer as the example, but his HRs were down anyway, everywhere.
Also, Minny didn’t hit any HRs last year.
Something tells me, if ARod gets a hold of one, it’ll go out.
Tyler,
I agree. Philly is going to crush Cincy. But I can dream, can’t I?
I grew up near Philly as a Yankees fan and my boss now is a huge Phillies fan so I have taken my share of abuse from the Philly Phaithful over the years. Hence my tremendous dislike for the team.
I hate rooting for a division rival, but I just can’t get behind Texas.
I won’t root for either, but the Rays appear to be the weaker team.
Lee has gotten a little lucky here with the line drives.
W-L and ERA from September 1st
Liriano 2-3 4.59
Pavano 2-1 6.12
Duensing 3-1 3.77
Blackburn 2-3 3.93
C.C 3-2 3.35
Pettitte 0-1 6.75 OUCH but understandable
Hughes 1-2 4.85(the win is from a relief appearance)

Thx doreen as always!
Jeez I really hope we get like 10 earned runs from Pavano. That dude has won NINE games for us in THREE years and he has 17 wins this year. I HATE HIM… maybe hate is a strong word… I dislike him
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS FOUR ZEROOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Bennie is FAT. And he just took care if that fat pitch.
Woah! Price is getting teed off! This is just a joke: I’d eat Damon’s hot dog!
Price not looking so hot today.
Rays playing a little tight? Longoria/Pena usually make that play.
I’m not watching the game nor do I really care but if the Rays lose today and Price doesn’t pitch well (and he isn’t, obviously) they are in real trouble with Shields pitching game 2.
is there some reason everyone is rooting for Texas? I think they played the Yankees much tougher this year than the Rays.
The Price is not right!
Is there a consecutive Molina in the postseason streak going on? How many straight years has there been at least one catching Molina in the postseason?
not rooting for either…would like it to go all 5 games tho
Rays defense has beem sloppy, playing tight? Especially the Zobrist play
Price has no plan B apparently, I think he threw all fbs in that inning.

Target field was dead last in HRs in the league. By a lot.
NYS: 40% more HRs than average
Target: 40% less HRs than average
Lets not look at what the blue jays did in a series and make a generalization without checking the numbers. Though I agree, most mediots did not check the numbers on NYS last year after the weird first half.
“not rooting for either…would like it to go all 5 games tho” Hear, Hear!
Molina brothers= winners
Why is it that only on the yankees the Molina’s don’t hit..(yes i know its bengie and not jose but jose wasn’t too bad with the bat this year)
Rooting for extra innings in that series, too.
Price hitting too much of the plate and Texas has their hitting shoes on. More I watch Lee, the more of a need he is for this staff.. Let’s see how free agency turns out>

7 k’s in 3.2 innings for Lee – Hot damn next year is going to be awesome!!!!
Faiaz – Ill watch it. Just read up on it; Bangladesh stunned NZ with a 9 run 1st day victory,
Jeez I love these Foster’s commercials
Lee is the only dominant non-Yankee pitcher in the playoffs as far as I’m concerned. If Tampa can take them out – preferably in a 19 inning game 5, that would make me happy. Just glad the Yanks don’t have to face Lee 2x in 5 games.
FIOS telecast (which apparently no one on this board has) features an additional local commercial break right smack in the middle of the action. Guess they did not stop the program for regular programming.
Time to bake the cookies.
Damn CR9 “u da man” lol… It’s so refreshing to know that a non-bengali will watch a Bangladesh cricket match. BTW my dad is pretty famous in my country because he used to play professional cricket back home so we are going on February to my country to watch the “World Cup.” I think it’s the first time it is being held in Asia. Uber-seats YESSSSS and FREE.
So Pena only has a Gold Glove against the Yanks? He looks like a matador out there.

Yeah, pretty funny. The music is just a tad too loud, though.
Rays seem real motivated today
In a 7 game series the Yankees could potentially throw Sabathia or Lee in 5 of the games next season.
Price is only using Fastballs for the most part, that has backfired

Country,
I agree… it should’ve been lower than the voice. However it is awesome how they synchronized Sterling with the music.
This game puts a lot of pressure on Big Game Shields tomorrow. I have a feeling that he won’t rise to the occasion.

“In a 7 game series the Yankees could potentially throw Sabathia or Lee in 5 of the games next season.” And that could spell “Wham, Bam, Thank you Ma’am” / “Good Morning, Good Afternoon, and Good night”
I love to see TB suffer, love to see Price choke.
very happy!
CR9,
have you ever seen a full one-day match? If you watch it on Friday, I will be in contact with you throughout the game
“I like your confidence ? unfortunately I don?t share it with you ? if the yankees are lucky enough to make it to the WS I hope and pray they face anyone but the phillies ? as halladay will dominate them even more than lee”
Actually, I disagree. The Yankees were having some success against Halladay before he left for PHI. Lee, on the other hand, has embarrassed them each time out. I like our chances against Halladay better than against Lee.
go Rangers!!!!!!
can’t predict how the rest of the series will go, but man it’d be nice to see the Rays bow out in the first round, imo they were and still are the Yanks’ biggest competition.
twins in the ALDS and the Rangers in the ALCS? sign me up
Probably covered, but my two cents on this series. The Yankees have to win one of the first two to steal home field advantage. For the Twins, game one is a *must* win. If the Twins don’t beat CC with their Ace at home they either have to:
1) Beat CC at home with the immortal Nick Blackburn on the mound
-or-
2) sweep Pettitte (road), Hughes (home), Pettitte (road).
Obviously, if they beat CC at home then Pettitte vs. Pavano becomes a *must* win for the Yankees for all the same reasons.
Looking forward to tonight!
JEEEEEZ LEE IS DEALING!!!
Faiaz – No, I have not. My email is timsertain at yahoo. Had to shut down my FB acct temporarily!
____
My friend just asked me if Javier was on the roster, and I said no, and then we both just busted out laughing. Then, I read that Javier holds out hope that he’ll eventually get on a postseason roster. Poor guy! At least we got the worst of Javy in the reg. season and not in the playoffs this year! Bye bye, Javy!
I wouldn’t be so sure that the Yanks could handle Halladay. Didn’t he only give up one hit in one of the Yanks’ games against Toronto last year? I remember they did beat him once but the guy at his best is a beast.
Right now Girardi is saying “See I told all you LoHud bloggers, we don’t want nothing to do with Lee.”
The Rays appear to be in a spot of trouble here in game 1.
It’s funny but the Rays rotation after Price is none too great but is anybody pointing that out.
By the way I read yesterday that it was Dan Shaughnessy ripping the rotation after CC who was on ESPN last Friday when Arod flipped to another station.
Furthermore Shaughnessy heard about it and approached Alex the next day to ask him why he would do such a thing. Duh.
And apparently ole Dannyboy is not very popular in the Sox clubhouse as well.
http://subwaysquawkers.blogspo.....s-dan.html
JM,
Halladay would obviously go against C.C. and C.C. this year, won his start against the Phillies allowing 3 runs in 7 innings striking out seven.
If this score holds up then the Rays are in big trouble in this series. The pitching matchups don’t give them any advantage and they are inferior offensively to the Rangers.
JM,
Furthermore, Doc gave up six runs in six innings against us this year and lost his start.
Blake,
Inferior offensively to the Rangers is an understatement.
More run prevention…
With the way the other Rays pitchers have been throwing lately, the Rangers should take this series. I’d rather face Texas in a 7 game series than a 5 game series.
Boy, that WC spot looks even better now.
The Yankees were having some success against Halladay before he left for PHI.

On any given game day anyone can look great or not! That is why they play the games! The media has to either embrace the Yankees or belittle them to get attention of the fans and with a perceived Beantown bias in the sports media the talk is usually anti-Yankees.
Price was due for a letdown. It happens. As a Yankee fan, you want to see the Yanks sweep the Twins & TB vs. Tex go 5 games to throw off their pitching rotations.
I like the Yanks chances because the Yanks A-Lineup is circular and very good.
What’s that Mr. Madden, you want to check tee times for next week.
It didn’t help that Rays chose to play Baldelli and had him up, facing Lee with the bases loaded. Likely Maddon micromanaging to get Baldelli’s measly 3/9 vs. Lee into the lineup.
RatVT -
I think that’s not only a good point, but, a good possibility.
The Rays may go quite after todays game, they can’t hit with Texas, and if it comes to a slugfest, the Rangers will come out on top.
Bronx,
Dan Shaughnessy? Can’t trust a sexist and racist man with red jerry curls.
http://thehonolulublue.wordpre.....t-remarks/
Halladay was 1-3 against the AL this year. He read the writing on the wall last year and went to the NL to save his career. He’s not the dominant pitcher he once was. Don’t let his Vazquez-type NL numbers fool you.
You can tell Lee knows exactly what he wants to do out there…he’s thinking 3 pitches ahead.

They were doing Sterling “mash-ups” for a long time until MLB slapped them with an injunction.
Reason I didn’t want to face Lee. Look at him. He has settled down and he is nasty.
Cashman,
Before he left for the Phillies? On June 15th, he gave up six runs in six innings and lost the game giving up THREE homeruns.

He only has 24 Big League at Bats the whole season, questionable move by Maddon
MLB wants The Texas market and the New York Market. Also, I would think Philly and San Fran. It’s always about the money.
Shaughnessy was right…Detroit is a dump.
He only has 24 Big League at Bats the whole season, *questionable* move by Maddon.
I would call it downright bizarre.
How good is the AL East? I live near Philly and all I hear is how awesome Halladay is. My reply is usually, “Yes, you’re right. He pitched his entire career in the AL East and never pitched a perfect game. His first year in the NL and he does that and is rediculously dominating. That tells me all I need to know about the NL.”
RSM,
That’s the point… everyone knows what Detroit is but he didn’t have to dissect it like he did… so negatively.

no manager will ever win a single game with his intelligence, no matter how much or little they have of it – on the other hand the really bad (and dumb) managers will lose many games with their lack of intelligence….
putting baldelli in the lineup when he’s had what 30 ab’s all year in the majors is pretty dumb….but then again what do i know maddon was voted the best manager among the 8 managers in the postseason…
btw – in a crucial game in september the best manager forgot he didn’t have a lefthanded reliever warming up in his bullpen and had a righthander (grant ball-four) face curtis granderson in which he promptly homered off of him to essentially win the game…if THAT type of managing wins him the best manager award then i really don’t know what to say about the intelligence of the people voting on these things
I could understand Maddon’s loyalty with Baldelli.
“You can’t grow up in America as a sports fan and not recognize the role that baseball played both negatively and positively in the racial history of America,” Lucchino says. “And the fact that it took until 1959 for Pumpsie Green to integrate the Sox infield speaks volumes.”
Cashman needs to send Lee a blank check tonight via FedEx overnight……
Roy Halladay is Roy Halladay, I don’t care about any single game results.
Career 18-7 2.98 ERA vs the Yankees. 7 complete games.
The Phillies’ front 3 are pretty impressive this year.
That sequence to Pena shows why Lee is so good. Everything was just barely on or barely off the plate. Pretty amazing how precise he can be with his stuff.
The Rays would be downright nasty if they still had Josh Hamilton.
The legacy of racial exclusion on the Red Sox extended into the Fenway Park stands, where black fans often felt unwelcome.
Jack,
I agree BUT next year’s rotation of Doc, Oswalt, Hamels < C.C., Lee, Pettitte/Hughes
Cash,
Maybe that is part of the reason why Moss just got traded to the Vikings.
@Bronx Jeers Where’s the MLB.com video? Link?
“The Red Sox were one of the most racist teams in baseball,” Bryant says. “You’ve got a 50-year legacy of difficulties between the Red Sox and the African-American population.”
Red sox were the last team to have a black player. Also, their team, with the exception of Ortiz was as white as you can be a couple years ago.
Halladay was 1-3 against the AL this year. He read the writing on the wall last year and went to the NL to save his career. He’s not the dominant pitcher he once was. Don’t let his Vazquez-type NL numbers fool you.
————————–
Everything you said minus the stat about his record against the AL is wrong. He didn’t choose to go to the NL. He would’ve gone to the Sox or Yankees had they ponied up the prospects. Halladay is still awesome, and would still be a perennial Cy Young candidate in either league.
1-3 = small sample size.
Three words… F the Sox

Cashman,
Before he left for the Phillies? On June 15th, he gave up six runs in six innings and lost the game giving up THREE homeruns.
http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/gameday…..;mode=wrap
*******************
I am aware of that but Laura had mentioned that the yankees had some success off of him prior to him being with the phillies (which is why i had last year and career stats)…additionally halladay was in the midst of a losing streak where he lost something like 6 or 7 games (Out of a total of 10 games he lost all year) out of 9 during that streak when the yankees beat him this year – so something was definetely not right with him that night…..
still i’d rather not face the phillies this year if the yankees are fortunate enough to make it to the WS…give me tim lincecum, jon sanchez and matt cain (and that average offense) over halladay, hamels and oswalt anyday…
Their highlight of this post-season was that 30/30 special on ESPN last night titled “4 days in October.” I don’t think I’ve ever hated anything like I hate the Redsox. Oh and talking about the damn ESPN network… why is it that in the beginning of Sportscenter they show the Saints, the Lakers but no Yankees? We ARE the latest winners in MLB right?
Well, Maddon does love Baldelli, and therefore probably let the small sample size cloud his judgment. However, I do think generally that Maddon will make sometimes unorthodox choices and that ability to think outside the box serves him well in terms of juggling his lineups, and taking managing risks. I like that. But I would not have played Baldelli today.
Let’s get past the Twins before we start worrying about PHI.
Jason,
Not to put down Doc, I mean he IS the man but he lost 10 games in the NL while C.C. lost only seven in the AL.
Philly has has a sick 1-2-3. Oswalt has a 1 something ERA since joining Philly. Hamels has reverted back to his 2008 form. Doc is Doc. 49-19 since July. Anything can happen obviously, but they are set up well.
If we face them in the WS, I would be shocked if they didn’t go 3-man. No way they will let Joe Blanton start a game in YS.

You have to go to CountryClub’s 3:01 post.
The link was above. I’m paying too much attention to this game… while at work. Lol sorry for the request.
& Baldelli pops up in this at bat on the first pitch.
Bronx Jeers, I was just passing along the video.
There goes the shutout.
Zobrist just hit it out.
Cliff Lee hasn’t exactly been aces against the Yankees. 4.42 career ERA against the yankees. He is capable of throwing a good game like any pitcher. Last year he had a great WSGM1 and then was mediocore in his next game.
Zobrist could pass for Doc’s younger brother
GTLU
Gardner LF
Jeter SS
Tex 1B
ARod 3B
Cano 2B
Swisher RF
Posada C
Thames DH
Granderson CF
Thanks, Doreen
Lee hasn’t been aces against us because he wants to play here with C.C. j/k
Those Lee stats are old, as in early days with CLE old. His most recent starts against us have been impressive.
Zobrist could pass for Doc’s younger brother.
————————————————————–
The resemblance is uncanny.
Has anyone subscribed to postseason.tv?
“4.42 career ERA against the yankees.”
Yes, but most of that was accumulated prior to 08 when he sucked.
From 08 on, he has a 2.30 ERA against us in 8 games.

I’ve got no problem with the video and I certainly don’t have an issue with you posting the video. It’s a good video and I thank you for sharing it.
I was just pointing out that somebody had that idea before and MLB laid the legal hammer on their heads for it.

i got it just so i can watch in on my iphone cuz i have mlb at-bat on there… it is friggin awesome

Jason,
Not to put down Doc, I mean he IS the man but he lost 10 games in the NL while C.C. lost only seven in the AL
*********
Yes he lost 10 games but in 2 of those games he pitched complete games giving up 1 run in 1 game (phils lost 2-0), and 4 runs in the other (phils lost 4-3), he also lost 2 games where he gave up 3 runs in 7 innings (phils lost 3-0 and 3- 2) and in the perfect game he threw the phils won 1-0 so essentially he HAD to throw a perfect game to even win that game…
now watch him go out today and give up 10 runs in 3 innings
Liriano could end up being great, but the Yankees appear to be lucky the way that Lee is dealing.
I was just pointing out that somebody had that idea before and MLB laid the legal hammer on their heads for it.

Got ya
i get to watch the reactions on the bench on my iphone while i watch the game on tv
Maybe the Rays should have started James “Big Game” Shields instead of Price …… LOL !
If NYY and TEX both advance… TEX has homefield in the next round right?
David Beckham on the phillies and reds game? I don’t get it.

yes
I can’t stand how most of the Rays are always spitting… is that considered “cool” in Tampa?
Jason, maybe I’m wrong about Halladay and he made some corrections this year, I haven’t seen him pitch much in the 2nd half but he seemed like a pitcher in the midst of a transition last year. I hazard to guess that Josh Beckett would have won 20 games in the NL East this year. The NL is a weak hitting league mostly because the Yankees/Sox dominance has forced AL teams to buy up all the top hitters in an effort to keep pace. Don’t think Doc doesn’t know that. I’m hoping it’s in the back of his mind along with that 1-3 record.
This game is showing us that the Yanks were wise to avoid Cliff Lee. Guy is a machine. We are much better off facing Liriano and the Twins
yeah, yeah… he is capable of throwing a great game, but he is no Cliff Lee.
Yanks did the right thing
“David Beckham on the phillies and reds game? I don’t get it.”
Seems like an odd game to attend. Go to the most lopsided of the 4 playoff series, in probably the most boring of the playoff cities! WTH is a mega star like him going to do in Cincy?

I am tempted. Is it true there are no blackouts. So, I could get the Yankee game even if in NY area? The multiple camera angles sound fascinating.
Jim,
Let’s just say that if the Phillies and Yankees switched Leagues… Yankees would have 105+ wins and the Phillies wouldn’t even break 90.
Yankee,
absolutely no blackouts… it said it on the contract agreement… I mean if you’re paying 10 bucks for basically a month it’s only right for them to make sure there are no blackouts… best part is YOU get to control which camera you want to watch.
BTX,
I got to the bottom of it… the LA Galaxy are playing the Philadelphia Union tomorrow.

Right, whatever Liriano does or doesn’t do, you have to want to face him over Lee and Texas. Only thing I like about Texas is their park, but hopefully we can play some small(er) ball and not be swinging for the distant Target fences all night.
overmanaging by taking Lee out…
Damn I wonder how proud the Molinas’ parents are… to have just ONE child reach star status at anything is amazing but THREE? Good for them.

Sounds great. That way I don’t have to race home for the game. I can be mobile. Perfect.
Yankee,
what phone do you have? I am not sure but try to find out if you need to have mlb at bat(15 bucks) to be able to have the post-season… If you have an iphone just get it jailbroken and get everything for free like i did(although i did have to pay for the post-season because it’s brand spanking new)
Lee was at 104 pitches. I wouldn’t think you would want him to go much more than that.
Chili on the stove; cookies in the oven!
Whoa we are the only team with a 3-man rotation this year? Sheesh. A.J. better start earning his money soon, I’d hate for him to be hated as Pavano is.
has anyone noticed Ron Washington and what he does (continuosly) with his tongue and lips….he seems to be licking his lips and rolling his tongue over his lips all the time…
i’ve never done coke before but have known a few friends in my day that have – and that is a habit that coke users get when they orally ingest cocaine (sort of trying to lick off the last of the residual powder thats left on their lips) ..
i’ve got nothing against the man, and maybe its just a nervous tick and nothing else – but if he’s trying to sell the baseball world that he got busted the ONLY time he ever did coke then there are alot of “naive” people in baseball – then again you can’t be more “naive” then good old bud selig anyway….

I have a Blackberry smartphone, but I would most likely use it with my computer at work and then switch to radio in the car just till I get home. My next month revolves around the Yankees, so I probably would barely use it w/my phone, but it’s a nice option to have.
yankee,
nice you’re good to go.
I’m hoping that Yankee Stadium isn’t going to allow vuvuzuelas in. They’re really, really annoying.
Braves are probably going to go 3-man too according to the reports and bring back Lowe on short rest.
Cash,
Interesting nugget of info, L.L. Cool J must be the biggest cokehead of them all lol
go Texas!!
Concerned,
Heck no, our team doesn’t even allow facial hair
As it nears, I am starting to get nervous about this game…
Rays going to bottom of 9th.
PeteAbe As Cliff Lee owns the Rays in Tampa, what the Yankees would be willing to pay for him is rising. That deal will get done quickly.
Even Petey has conceded him lol
Can’t wait till November 8th to be reunited with my man crush Conan O’Brien. He is gonna make TBS a premiere T.V. network. GO COCO.

0 Days, 3 Hours, and 54 Minutes until Game 1 of the ALDS
Must suck for these other teams that they have to play afternoon playoff games because the networks want the Yankees in primetime haha
These other teams are just not as important as the pinstripes….
Erica,
somehow that seems so far away, I just wanna fall asleep at work and wake up at home at around 8:35ish
Oh boy. Here comes dan Johnson. Hope they tell him that he is not facing the Yankees.

in honor of LL Cool J and the yankees trying for #28 starting tonight – i think the yankees should come out tonight with the song “mama said knock you out” blaring out the speakers – it would be especially cool since they are playing in Target Field and it would be embarrasing to the twins if they actually allowed that to happen
Neftali walks Pena and Dan Johnson to start off his first postseason save opportunity.
Nice jump by francoeur, saves feliz
Cash,
contact Frank Zillo, that’s a great idea lol
Francisco Liriano has not thrown more than 110 pitches since May 26th (coincidentally against the Yankees)
Liriano has not gone further than 7 innings since June 11th.
Liriano has thrown 104, 95, 103, 81, 61, 91 pitches respectively in his starts in September.
With this information it doesn’t seem that Liriano could really handle more than 100-105 pitches tonight. If he goes past that he may be fatigued and the Yankees can take advantage.
16-17 pitches per inning and the Yankees can get Liriano out of there in 6.
Neftali has gotten the rust off. Rays down to their last out.
Hi Guys – I don’t see how Feliz is not the Rookie of the Year in the AL.
Game over. Too easy for Lee and Texas.
Are you ready?
4 hrs away
It’s up to Big Game Shields to save TB’s season. Good luck with that. LOL!
reid brignac – yankee killer…as quiet as a mouse against all others
Is this going to be another October where all the closers except MO suck and the others all implode in big games and give the other team momentum?
Last year, Nathan’s blew a save and and it shifted momentum. Street blew a save in an elimination game. Papelbomb blew a save and it eliminated the Sox. Broxton blew a save with the Dodgers on the verge of tying the series, and they ended up losing in 5. Lidge imploded in a tie game with a chance to tie the series. Fuentes blew a save in game 2. Franklin blew a save that killed the Cardinals (though that was Holliday’s fault).

Rays are in big trouble. Losing game one at home with your ace on the hill is not good.
hey if the yankees win tonight they’ll be tied for first with the ray…..oh nevermind….
Nice adjustment by Neftali and the Rays are done for the day.
Cliff Lee bent a bit at the beginning but did not break. Sometimes I think his brain produces it’s own Xanax.
The guy’s just cool out there and you can throw him up against anybody and you always got a shot to win the game.
If I were the Rays, I would be plenty nervous with Jekyll-Hyde Shields pitching tomorrow.
Honestly, tomorrow’s game is a horrible matchup for both sides.
Wilson lead the league in walks this year… and walks are the only way for the Rays to score runs considering they hit .240. He also is a 5 inning pitcher.
Small Game Shields sucks.
I’d expect lots of bullpen tomorrow.
JohnLowe86: Cliff Lee becomes first P EVER to make 2 post-season starts with no BB and at least 10 K

WELCOME TO NEW YORK….
next year we’ll be arguing who should start the first game of the playoffs – sabathia or lee?
