1 Day, 4 Hours, and 8 Minutes until Game 1 of the ALCS

    Where is GB these days?

  3. LGY October 14th, 2010 at 3:56 pm

I think someone needs to send stuckey back to the lab for a tune up.At least a temporary system shutdown.

Busy cataloging a database for real heroes.

LGY – LMAO! Thanks for the defense. I shouldnt have responded to GB last night. Apparently, they dont teach you discipline and self-control in the Army. :(

  6. Wave Your Hat October 14th, 2010 at 4:06 pm

I went back and looked at last night’s “hero” discussion. What exactly was wrong with it?

  7. RMS October 14th, 2010 at 4:07 pm

“Busy cataloging a database for real heroes.”

    Ouch

  8. Rishi October 14th, 2010 at 4:08 pm

Britt_Ghiroli Young & Tex r very close friends, but when Tex tried to invite himself to stay @ Young’s house for the series he was told there was no room.

  9. CR9 October 14th, 2010 at 4:09 pm

WYH – What was wrong with it? I made a non-controversial opinionated statement and did not believe that it would start anything. Then, GreenBeret7 in all of his arrogance, decided to insult people for calling the Chileans heroes.

But, I cant really blame GB7, as they likely didnt teach him discipline, self-control or honor in the Army.

pcaldera Rangers taking batting practice, Yanks on the way. Joe Girardi stat on his 46th birthday: .778 PS win% highest for any NYY mgr, min. 15 gms.

Claws and antlers are part of Rangers’ chemistry lesson

Column by KEVIN SHERRINGTON / The Dallas Morning News

“Any club needs good chemistry, but a young club, especially, must bond. Different teams go about it in different ways. Maddon had his boys wear blue plaid blazers on the road and also took them on team outings. The Rays won 96 games, so it was hard to argue the merits”

“Maybe this whole claws and antlers culture breaks down a man’s insecurities and inhibitions.”

Those are some cogent analysis on part with Peter Gammons there…

Not to start trouble but one would think the opposite is more likely true.

I think his point was that true heroes make difficult choices that don’t always put their own self-preservation first.

    CR9-

I believe GB7 used the epithet “clown”. As GB7 comments go, that’s pretty tame. Besides, it’s ridiculous to take GB7′s comments personally, it’s a shtick.

  23. CR9 October 14th, 2010 at 4:46 pm

WYH – Yeah, you’re right on both counts. Pretty tame and it is a shtick. I usually laugh at GB7s shtick. Only got perturbed this time because I wasnt trying to start anything and thought it was not a controversial statement. Im movin’ on!! :)

AJ AJ AJ! AJ AJ AJ! AJ AJ AJ!

Is “Billy, Don’t Be A Hero” the worst song of the 70′s?

    Discuss.

  25. Cashmoney October 14th, 2010 at 4:48 pm

Excellent point Wave, normally GB would address you with endearing terms such as ‘warped degenerate’ ,’tulips’ , ‘idiots’ or some other belittling vernacular as such.

CR, you taking this way too personally, who wouldn’t want to be call that.

  26. Nick in SF October 14th, 2010 at 4:50 pm

Believe it or not, I’m walking on air. I never thought I could feel so free. Flying away on a wing and a prayer. Who could it be? Believe it or not it’s just me.

  27. CR9 October 14th, 2010 at 4:50 pm

I prefer warped degenerate! It has a nice ring to it!

  28. CR9 October 14th, 2010 at 4:51 pm

Nick – you’re walking on air??? HERO! HERO! HERO! HERO! ;)

  31. Cashman needs to go October 14th, 2010 at 4:57 pm

I Know we’ve beaten this AJ start to death but…since its raining outside my window right now..

what if game #3 or 4 is rained out – thereby giving everyone an extra day’s rest..

do you then pull AJ from his start and go with your 3 starters the rest of the way?

BryanHoch Rangers are on field. Coaches hitting grounders to OFers, practicing hitting cuts. It’s like high school ~ but they’re much, much better

  34. Nick in SF October 14th, 2010 at 5:01 pm

It’s ok, AJ has beaten us to death too.

I thought the hero dialogue was really interesting and good late night fare. I guess I would have to think that having started it with such a highly controversial statement as:

“Mission accomplished Chile! The last miner has been rescued. That’s just so great”.

  40. Nick in SF October 14th, 2010 at 5:05 pm

    Thank you, KPB.
