Yankees stick with regular lineup in Game 1

No sense getting fancy. The Yankees are sticking with what worked in the division series.
And I’ll be perfectly honest, this lineup might have been posted three minutes earlier, but I stopped at Steak ‘n Shake for some frozen goodness on my way to the park. It’s the little things in life.

One quick observation: This city is pretty excited about baseball. I have a great friend who works as a producer for a television station here in Dallas, and the past two times the Yankees were in town, Laura and I talked about how much this has remained a football town even with the Rangers playing pretty good baseball.
At lunch today, Laura was saying the opposite. The town is caught up in baseball. There are claw and antler t-shirts everywhere. I listened to some of the craziest sports talk radio on my way to the park — there was a remake of New York, New York that rhymed the lyrics, Hamilton’s bat with Bengie’s kind of fat — and every person I’ve greeted at the stadium has been thrilled about playoff baseball. There’s excitement here. It’s going to be a good atmosphere tonight.

I would prefer to see Granderson batting second given how things have played out recently and Swish batting 6th. I don’t tend to look at lineups with regards to righty-lefty, so I haven’t considered that.
Of course, if this team really wanted to kill, they would swap Gardner and Jeter…

Not sure, but I think Wilson’s a LHP. If he is, then there’s no way that Girardi would bat Granderson lefty. Not this season and not with a switch hitter option.
BTW, Chad. The reason why the area is gaga for the Rangers is 1)yes, the stupid antler thing, but more importantly 2)the Cowboys are playing bad, in a year they’re hosting the Super Bowl.

Jeter has actually hit LHP very well this year: .321/.393/.481 on 239 PAs.
It’s vs RHP he has struggled.

ha ha good call. Recommend the Frisco Melt but I think I’ve never eaten at a Steak n Shake when the sun was out, it’s one of those places
The Cowboys of Jerry Jones have flopped so fans in Dallas / Fort Worth have switched to antlermania.

I don’t think the Rangers should feel any better about Tommy Hunter going in YS down 2-1 than the Yankees feel about AJ going at home up 2-1. It’s a wash. It’s gonna be a high-scoring game, likely a bullpen fest and I’ll take our BP over theirs any day.

Eduardo Perez said the Rangers win. The country is going to find out how good the Rangers are. Wilson knows how to pitch in that park and he’s going to shut the Yankees down.
Chis Singleton said the Yankees will prevail because Perez will soil his uni when he looks up and sees Cano, Teixeira, Rodriguez.
I don’t like Singleton’s logic. Perez in the game=not good for Yankees.
Yankees win tonight. CC=been there, done that.
Chris Singleton is on drug for saying that. If empirical evidence counts as anything, Feliz prolly will.
But anywho, CC is better than CJ, whom I think is a good pitcher who seem to have his control in order from Sept on. But CJ’s stuff is very hittable to me.
I was paraphrasing there. He didn’t actually say that Perez will soil his uni. He said he’d look up, see those guys and lose command of his fastball.

I see two pretty evenly match team. The biggest advantage I see is Mo vs Feliz.
He’s saying that they have no business losing with CC on the mound.
That’s no different than fans who complain 24/7 even when their team is doing well.

Watch the Don Mattingly Yankeeography sometimes. Watch him hit upper decks home runs with not a fan in site.
The Yankees drew as few as 1.7m fans in as recently as 1995 and 1992 (I’ll excuse ’95 as being the post-strike season), outdrawn by the Texas Rangers, btw, in each of these years.
They drew less than 1 million fans in 1972.
Texas has solidly drew mid-2m fans every year since the new park opened, despite limited success on the field.

The point is, the NY Yankees have had eras in their illustrious history where the fans were fair-weather, just like everywhere else.
