As much as you may love baseball, when the World Series is done and the weather gets crisp like this, it’s hard not to get into football on the weekends.
Truth is, everyone is doing it:
• Joba Chamberlain was flat-out fired up about his Nebraska Cornhuskers yesterday.
• CC Sabathia has never made any secret about his passion for the Oakland Raiders.
• Even Chad probably wouldn’t want to answer if someone asked him which made him happier this weekend: Watching his sister get married or seeing a big Mizzou win on Senior Day? (Don’t worry, pal, your secret is safe with us.)
As for me, I’m headed out to the Meadowlands today to write a column for the paper on the Giants-Cowboys game. If you’re a football fan, enjoy the games; if not, then take comfort in this: Pitchers and catchers report in just 92 days.
If you’re not a football fan, believe me – it’s plenty easy to not get into football. I’m a Bears fan, but since they are giving me no reason to get excited, I’m spending my entire off-season in terms of sports thinking of baseball.

Back to Hot Stove, anybody think there is any chance of prying Johnson from the marlins? As a “plan B” I like that idea better than a Greinke trade. Probably not happening though.

I just couldn’t think of Thorne’s name, but, I like his style, and honest evaluation of the game and players.
I think the best YES announcer is Ken Singleton and I’d like to see him paired with David Cone. Kay is a hack, do not enjoy listening to him. He don’t pay attention to the game, and thinks he’s the reason we turn on YES.
Tar, Johnson would be as hard to steal from Florida as Ramirez would be or Lincecum from the Giants, I think. The talent cost would seem to be counter productive.
Irreverent Discourse – that’s not true. Please post any comment I made where I said I didn’t like Derek Jeter. Why do you invent things? I’ll wait for the quote or your apology.

That’s my dream, and yes, I think it can be done. Some time ago, tyank posted that the city and MLB are not thrilled with Loria and the Marlins, and he might be forced to trade a player like Josh Johnson. The Marlins like cheap players with good upside, and we could put together a package to land him, IMO.

I can’t believe I slept through the thread I’ve been waiting for.
Sterling is worse than having bad sight lines. He has 2 main problems:
1). He’d rather make his trademark calls than accurately describe what’s occuring on the field.
2) He’d rather listen to himself talk about whatever random topic is on his mind than take a timeout to accurately describe the action on the field.
It’s not just the homeruns he calls that don’t actually make it out of the park. It’s the homeruns that he describes as HIGH and FAR that are line drive lasers, or barely clear the fence.
It’s the grounders scorched up the middle that he describes as routine plays, and the routine plays he describes as incredible.
It’s when he decides the outcome of a play before the umpires do.
It’s his inability or uncaring to mention what type of pitch was thrown.
It is high… It is far… It isssss… Time to retire.

Joba is a reliever and an inconsistent one at that (at this point). Romine had a down year and is not considered a great prospect and the Killer B’s are purely unknown. I don’t see any reason why the Marlins would trade Johnson. If they do, I’d be of the mind that they should be contracted because they are bad for the sport.
I think watching the Giants vs Dallas is better than this right now. Later.
On the topic of football
My USF Bulls won yesterday and they are now Bowl Eligible! They are also in the Big East conference which is one half of the conference that is invited to the NewEra Pinstripe bowl at Yankee Stadium, I for one am really hoping that we get invited. I know I wont be able to go to the game but it would be cool for my Bulls to represent.

GB I agree. I was more thinking of the win now mentality and as a “plan b”. With the trade of Maybin I think they need a CF and with depth of the minors I can see a package that might interest them. But as I said before, it’s not likely. Hopefully they will sign Lee and hold on to their prospects.

I had same problem and researched it. Seems like some hackers got inot Yahoo mail systems and periodically send out ads through people’s addresses. I had to delete a ll my contacts so they wouldn’t get such spam. I even changed my password, but they still crack it from time to time.
I have not sent emails to anyone on lohud since my brother died, other than Fran. If you receive an email supposedly from me, please know that I am once again being violated by some very sick individual. It is NOT from me. Sam and Chad, that would include emails to both of you.
If anyone receives emails in my name, do not respond. They are not from me.

Trisha–Sorry to hear that. That is definitely different than what happened to me. That really is sick.
Aldo and WCYF–This seems like the argument you guys had at the Daily News that drove readers like me away. Aldo never attacked anyone but “Redfish,” and there was enough info put out about him by Redfish himself that led Aldo to the other info. He also never hacked the accounts of others from what I could tell–even though he used many different names (he always said it was him and that he just enjoyed changing names).
Saying that Aldo attacked others, hacked their accounts, and stalked them is a stretch.
Anyway, why not just ignore him. You aren’t doing anyone any favors by diverting the flow of conversation. I really didn’t want to bring this up but I just don’t want to see that happen here.

AL, no they didn’t. Someone asked if they allow tours into the dugouts, but the tour guide said that they simply get too many fans on these tours to allow them even onto the field…………. When I toured Citizens Bank park in Philly, we were allowed on the field, but not really – there was a white line we had to stay behind. We were allowed into the dugout, though – and everyone took a pic of themselves making a call on the phone to the bullpen, lol
Bojo thank you. This is an especially painful time for me and my family. I can’t believe that anyone would take advantage of my vulnerability at this time and send out emails in my name, making up a new email address. Again, I believe you have to be evil to be capable of that. Not just nasty or spiteful. Evil.

I’d say what you posted is going to happen without question. The good thing about karma is that all you have to do is sit back and watch it happen. Hence, karma.
It is unfortunate that Aldo the Apache has chosen to come to this site stalking WCYF. He has many, many different identities and handles. He has threatened people, defamed their families and friends, even going to extremes of invading peoples personal email sites at work. All while hiding behind the confines of his computer nad the internet. WCYF is 100% truthful about his antics as I too have seen for myself.
A female acquaintance of mine has also been the victim of his abuse and defamation. I have copies of the posts and the links to this abuse. Although this has been said before his sole purpose here is to stalk, disrupt and create turmoil despite his attempts at coddling some here with a baseball comment once in a while. A pure troll at his best infiltrating this blog.
It would not surprise me in the least if he was the one hacking and emailing Trisha. It has Aldo’s ‘thumbprint’ all over it.

You can get the IP address from the Yahoo e-mail by clicking on “Actions/View Full Header” in Yahoo mail for the e-mail (if you received a copy). If you didn’t, ask a friend who received it to post it oto you.

The reason I asked was when you see the Fenway locker room, compared to others, it is very small with rather low ceilings.
Walking from the locker room to the dugout, after its rained, is an adventure sometimes. They put wood boards down because it can flood, and players have seen rats down there. I guess that’s the price you pay for having such an old stadium.
Vineyard–I have been reading the Daily News blog off and on for 4 years, and never saw any evidence of what you claim Aldo did. Instead, people over there were generally irrate at the behavior of “Redfish” and “BobbyCA”–often claiming they were the troll/trolls.
Also seemed to be very popular there, while Redfish was not. I don’t think anyone ever accused him of the actions you speak of except Redfish.
Again, please drop it…and stop making allegations that are questionable at the least. There is no benefit to continuing this war here.

AL, I guess at one point they did let people in the dugout? Yes, there are certain things you live with when dealing with an old stadium………I like Fenway a lot – and Wrigley. I do not have any use for new fangled stadiums that try to be all things to all people. Kids want to go to an amusement park? Take them to one – a ballpark should be a ballpark and that’s it.

I am not Aldo…Chad could verify that, or if you would ask nicely, Trish could as well. She and I go way back to NY Times forum in 90s. Actually, she would be the one to verify I am not Aldo since the registration process proves nothing.
But if that allegation that I was Aldo represents the kind of “proof” you have against him, then you are really wasting everyone’s time.

I’m glad you enjoyed Boston. A friend (Yes I have one), took me to a seafood restaurant, in Boston, it was in a warehouse area, and had no signs outside. At first I thought he was playing a gag on me, but the place was packed, and the food out of this world. Great place to visit, but I don’t think I could survive there.

I did some research on that address, and think I found out what is going on. I e-mailed that address and got a reply. With it came a link. It seems likely that opening that link downloads a virus on to the PC of the person opening the link. From what I have read about the scam, the virus collects typed in info and sends it to a hacker. They hope to capture bank password type info and drain accounts.
Yahoo has been having a lot of trouble with scams like this lately. I sent you an e-mail about it.
This whole thing is getting beyond childish. If you feel the need to crap on one another, take it some place else.
