I never would have had today’s line-up correct. Guess a lot of the regulars get to skip the road trip.
I would have liked seeing Mesa getting an outfield start today. Chavez will be an interesting watch. His rogress may affect Laird’s spot on the roster. Can’t see Belliard leaving Florida as a Yankee.

I think if Chavez is healthy he makes the team with Laird playing every day at SWB…..that gives the Yanks an experienced backup with LH power and allows Laird more development time and a chance to increase his value….
Yea chavez can play first….he’s just not as experienced there as a 3rd.

Chavez kind of said he can’t; he is concerned about and needs to work on first base foot work. I think he has barely played 1B.
I like the way the Yankjees are building a team that has players who are versatile.
That should serve them well when the injury bug bites (which it always does).

so i was driving yesterday afternoon and had the game on for a few minutes and heard when tex popped out his second time up, making him 0-1 at that point and i thought to myself, ‘ someone on the lohud is calling tex a failure and calling for pujols right now!’
i didnt go back and check , but im confident it happened

QFT, but seeing Betances and Montero today is a coup in itself. Although at least I have seen them multiple times live, but never Mesa. Still pretty happy about it though, except need to search for some Sunday morning muffins before first pitch to make my day complete.

I know, GB. We should really cool it. At his age it’s especially easy to get confused. For example, I think when lauding the Twins pitching development, he makes the mistake of confusing the Minnesoata Twins with the old Minneapolis Millers from the late 1800s. Now according to the histories that I’ve read, THAT team knew how to develope pitchers! Unfortunately, after baseball banned the spitball, their success rate went down. That’s when they knew that their pitching development philosophy was licked.
Randi continues to get all this stuff mixed up. I’ve noticed a number of times where he slips up and will say things like so and so will be pitching today for the Highlanders. I believe he once said that his favorite player was Jack Chesbro and wondered when Chesbro was going to have his next start. I think he still faults Cashman for having forced Giradi to use Jack in the last and deciding game of the 1904 pennant race.

Tex had a really nice swing in his 3rd AB….it was rich handed though. If the plan is to simply play him more this spring in hopes that he’ll get off to a better start then that seems very logical…..hopefully it works out.

Chavez knows he won’t be any everyday player any longer with Teixeira and Alex as fixtures but a combination of his LH bat and the RH bat of Nunez should cover the infield. If he hits, Ramiro Pena is a switch hitter playing as many positions as Nunez.
The Yankees don’t lack in depth for the infield or outfield.

We got both our cairns as adults, so they were pre-named.
My dog came prenamed too. Bimmer. Everyone pronounces it wrong cause its pronounced like beamer. My friend who I got him from wanted to be accurate when spelling his name. The bmw car is spelled Bimmer, the motorcycle is spelled Beamer. Who would have known that?
It’s tradition in my family that the youngest member gets to name the pet.
Many, many years ago I named a cat ‘Space Orbit Cheese’, so Mr. Cuddles is rather tame.
I think the ‘Mr.’ in his name gives him a little gravitas

So just why is a BMW car called a ‘bimmer’ not a ‘beemer’ or ‘beamer’?
The answer in part lies in knowing some BMW history and what came first.
All real BMW enthusiasts know that BMW got a big start on two wheels, what many call the real BMWs.
In those days, BMW motorcycles were quite active in racing, and one of their competitors at the track was often the BSA bikes.
Well as things would have it, a track slang developed, and the BMWs were usually referred to as ‘beemers’ and the BSAs were referred to as ‘beesers’.
So, of course for any true enthusiast, there is no way that a BMW car could be called a ‘beemer’, so they were called ‘bimmers’.

When my son was little, we got a cat, which he named Peanut Butter Taffy (he was white w/ a little orange). It didn’t really matter as we just called him Kitty.
So nice to see some baseball, especailly since it has snowed off and on the last 3 days.

That’s exactly what my friend said. His boyfriend at the time who got the dog wanted to name him beamer with that spelling, my friend who is a huge car enthusiast would not let him spell it that way because he didn’t want to name him after the motorcycle therefore he would be named Bimmer. Its kind of inconvenient for the first time we take him to the vet or wherever we have to write his name and they say his name like its spelled which just sounds ridiculous.
