Status still uncertain for Curtis, Golson

Posted by: Chad Jennings - Posted in Misc on Mar 09, 2011 Print This Post Print This Post | Email This Post Email This Post

Colin Curtis is still waiting for a final diagnosis of his right shoulder injury. His MRI results are being sent to more doctors, and Curtis believes he’ll be able to rehab rather than have surgery.

“Try to avoid that at all costs,” he said.

Greg Golson is going to see a doctor tonight. Turns out his injury is to his right oblique, not his rib cage. Nothing happened in the game to trigger it. He thinks he just slept funny.

“It’s better than it was yesterday, so that’s good,” Golson said.

Now if only MLB.TV will come to the Wii so I can watch on my TV..

i hope tiki plays for dallas or philly so i can see the giants crush him 5 or 6 times before he’s forced back into retirement.

then he can cry about coughlin some more (and admire his SB ring from afar…)

  3. Betsy March 9th, 2011 at 5:52 pm

Hoping for the best for both…….

    YsGuy,

    “Arrow thingy.” LOL. I understand.

  5. hardwired7 March 9th, 2011 at 5:59 pm

Golson as a defensive replacement for Swisher?

    +1.

Curtis is ticketed for Scranton /Wilkes-Barre. Golson could be the 1st OF recalled if the need arises after the start of the season especially if he’s swinging the bat well.
With Nunez and Pena now working out in OF corners, Girardi wants more versatility from both.

    View from my seat!

The seat I got for next wednesdays game is front row behind the Yankees dugout between the New and York.

    Ys Guy,

I would take 1 win against the Eagles. Tom not having his hands team on during that onside kick was inexcusable

BIG PROPS to Mike Rice, Rutgers coach, who took the high road after the ref’s blew the end of their game vs. St. Johns.

“There was a mistake made, there’s no question I’m sure they will admit it. I made several mistakes, my players made several mistakes, I’m sure my staff, who thinks they’re allways right made several mistakes. Thats just the way it is, we have the greatest officials in America.”

Another day . Another set of injuries .

    :(

  12. Triple Short of a Cycle March 9th, 2011 at 6:21 pm

Rice is a first year coach. I doubt he was going to make waves and blast the officials but I agree with you

    What I learned today:

Whether or not the Yankees had lukewarm interest in Aroldis Chapman or passing interest in Aroldis Chapman is apparently a point of heated derision amongst LoHud Yankees fans.

  14. Nick in SF March 9th, 2011 at 6:24 pm

” “No formal offer does not equal no interest.”

The natural end to any discussion. The inevitable declaration that you can’t disprove a negative.”

Sloppy, stuckey. Is it inevitible that when you engage in discussions you will try to reduce statements other people make to debate tropes?

Some person or collection of personalities posted this:

    “We didn’t go after Chapman.”

It has since been argued that Cashman’s claim that no formal offer was made is proof that the Yankees didn’t “go after” Chapman. That’s particularly silly as “go after” is such a subjective phrase.

Maybe showing regular due-diligance but making no offer does mean the Yankees didn’t “go after” Chapman.

Maybe hosting Chapman and finding out what his contract demands would be means the Yankees did “go after” Chapman.

“You strikes me as less advocating a consistent position and more just playing contrarian…”

I think that applies more to its author, stuckey, than its intended target, Jerkface. But this is the time to get ready for the regular season.

  15. LGY March 9th, 2011 at 6:26 pm

In a case where WCYF saw an opportunity to take down his arch nemesis, the Bojo creature, at a time he has been left defenseless because of his promise to not speak to WC Jerkface has stepped in to stop this barbaric attack.

The hunter has become the hunted. Fascinating.

  16. Tom in N.J. March 9th, 2011 at 6:29 pm

Jerkface always said he wanted to hunt man.

  17. stuckey99 March 9th, 2011 at 6:34 pm

“Is it inevitible that when you engage in discussions you will try to reduce statements other people make to debate tropes?”

    No.

    But that one stands, appropriately.

I can’t argue with the subjectivity of language of course. People can interpret something to mean anything they like it to, very often after the fact, which is the diesel fuel of internet debate.

But I personally have a hard time walking away from “go after” without the “aggressive” connotation.

    Your mileage may vary.

Why should it take so long to come up with the correct diagnosis and treatment for Colin?

  19. Nick in SF March 9th, 2011 at 6:35 pm

    “What I learned today:

Whether or not the Yankees had lukewarm interest in Aroldis Chapman or passing interest in Aroldis Chapman is apparently a point of heated derision amongst LoHud Yankees fans.”

Such above-the-fray condescension is inappropriate after previous wallowing in the fray.

I am on to you, stuckey, and I will emply emoticons to show it.

And I thought ladies held grudges….

    ****

    Anyhoo -

Sure hope Colin Curtis and Golson are not in as bad a shape as they could be; and how the heck was Golson sleeping if he pulled an oblique??? What kind of accommodations are they giving these guys???? Can’t Jeter spare a room????

    ;)

    ****
And I don’t know about anyone else, but the name “Curtis” in the headlines always has me thinking Granderson, even though I KNOW that players are referred to by last name, and my heart skips a beat.

  21. Bronx Jeers March 9th, 2011 at 6:39 pm

I’m not sure if this helps out any but….I used to go after many a promising, young lass without ever formally announcing my intentions.

  22. blake March 9th, 2011 at 6:40 pm

There is this Van Damme movie where these people hunt men but they picked the wrong guy to hunt and Van Damme kills them all.

  23. Doreen March 9th, 2011 at 6:41 pm

    Boston Dave -

I saw your reference to appleTV owners about MLB.tv. What did you mean? I have appleTV, but I also have YES, so it may not mean anything to me.

    :)

  24. Nick in SF March 9th, 2011 at 6:44 pm

I think we’re all familiar with the tragic tale of the husband who tried to hund down his wife and kill her with a golden comb while she in turn disguised herself by cutting off her tresses and waited to kill him with a poisoned watch fob.

I might be leaving out some key, forgotten details.

  25. Nick in SF March 9th, 2011 at 6:45 pm

SICK: hunt, not hund (unless you read the story in its original German).

  26. blake March 9th, 2011 at 6:45 pm

Leiter is incredibly good at demonstrating pitching mechanics….thy are discussing Strasburg now

  27. Betsy March 9th, 2011 at 6:48 pm

I like Leiter; too bad he’s more on MLB that he is on YES

  28. stuckey99 March 9th, 2011 at 6:49 pm

“Such above-the-fray condescension is inappropriate after previous wallowing in the fray.”

    Duh.

As Veronica Corningstone might say, “You’ll find it.”

Famous short story from 1924 “The Most Dangerous Game”

“The Most Dangerous Game” features as its main character a big-game hunter from New York, who falls off a yacht and swims to an isolated island in the Caribbean, and is hunted by a Russian aristocrat. The story is an inversion of the big-game hunting safaris in Africa and South America that were fashionable among wealthy Americans in the 1920s.

  31. Betsy March 9th, 2011 at 6:52 pm

Gilligan’s Island did a version of that story………….I did read the original and it was really cool.

  32. Vineyard Yankee March 9th, 2011 at 6:53 pm

The only thing JF has stepped in is HS . Three quarters of the time he just argues to argue, about the same thing over and over in order to read his own posts.

  33. Doreen March 9th, 2011 at 6:54 pm

Fractured Fairy Tale? O’Henry Gone Awry?

    Oh, Nick.

    :)

  34. Bronx Jeers March 9th, 2011 at 6:55 pm

Wasn’t that the book that George Costanza pretended to write while scamming a limo ride from the airport?

  35. Triple Short of a Cycle March 9th, 2011 at 7:01 pm

Wasn’t there a movie based on the book with Ice T in it. surviving the game or something like that?

  36. Jerkface March 9th, 2011 at 7:01 pm

It was called Mean Guns, and it is the greatest movie of our time.

  37. Triple Short of a Cycle March 9th, 2011 at 7:01 pm

    Bronx Jeers,

I think it was called the big game

  38. Jerkface March 9th, 2011 at 7:03 pm

Pretty sure it was Leprechaun In The Hood.

  39. Triple Short of a Cycle March 9th, 2011 at 7:04 pm

    Jerkface,

    classic movie
