Banuelos is making the team!! PANIC!~!!

  2. Jerkface March 14th, 2011 at 10:47 am

The Yankees just want to send a message to the Red Sox.

    We have the banuelos

    Can anyone say “SHOWCASE”!!!!!

    Kidding…

    Least I think so….

  5. Erica in NY March 14th, 2011 at 10:52 am

Or maybe this just means that Banuelos is not making the team.

Isn’t it a fact that teams don’t always like to have their starters facing division rivals in spring training gaims

  6. Erica in NY March 14th, 2011 at 10:53 am

    Side note-
I have no idea why I just spelled “games” so completely and totally wrong

  7. Jerkface March 14th, 2011 at 10:55 am

    lmao beisbaw gaims!!

  9. blake March 14th, 2011 at 10:58 am

    Awesome!

SJ, I agree. I would strongly consider Montero and Betances for Felix…..Montero and Banuelos is too much.

“Isn’t it a fact that teams don’t always like to have their starters facing division rivals in spring training gaims”

Which is why it’s probably no accident the Aceves is hurling for the Red Sox.

Oh Erica, I’m glad you’re here.. I thought you might like to take a look at this website that lets you create celebrity fantasy teams/leagues. Your team gets 10 celebs and you battle it out in your league for 30 days.. get points for rehab, babies, movie releases, etc, basically anything that gets you written about in the gossip rags. Its just like fantasy sports but less stressful (I personally find rooting for any non-Yankee players stressful)! Fafarazzi.com

  12. Erica in NY March 14th, 2011 at 11:02 am

    Shame Spencer-

That sounds awesome. I will jump on that when the debacle known as busy season ends.

I have no time for my baseball draft this weekend. Is “winging it” a bad strategy??

  13. Crawdaddy March 14th, 2011 at 11:03 am

There isn’t a Yankee prospect I wouldn’t trade for King Felix. With that said, I would have limits on how many of my top prospects I would trade for him. Example being, I wouldn’t trade ManBan, Betances, Montero and Brackman for him.

  14. Erica in NY March 14th, 2011 at 11:05 am

    Shame Spencer-

I also find it very amusing and sad at the same time that my 8 year old cousin asked his mom why Lindsey Lohan is always in trouble and keeps walking around saying he is “Winning”

  15. Doreen March 14th, 2011 at 11:07 am

I guess we look for Banuelos to get cut after this start, then?

  16. Shame Spencer March 14th, 2011 at 11:08 am

Erica – its not only a really good time but you can start your league whenever you want, so you arent constrained by a season like in other sports. And winging a draft is no big, I’m sure you’ll be fine over the long stretch of the season.

Yeah, kids quoting Charlie Sheen has to be the scariest thing to result from his PR blitz.

  17. Erin March 14th, 2011 at 11:09 am

BloggingBombers Sounds like Mitre has some type of ribcage/oblique type injury. Could be out a while, opening the long relief spot for the odd starter out.

  18. Shame Spencer March 14th, 2011 at 11:10 am

I think its gonna be kinda fun to watch Banuelos pitch against the Sox. I wonder who will be in their line-up tonight.

If the kid does well, we can all get excited. If he does poorly, we can chalk it up to a ST start and focus on his potential.

  19. blake March 14th, 2011 at 11:10 am

I would trade any Yankee prospect straight up for Felix but not both Montero and Banuelos.

  20. Shame Spencer March 14th, 2011 at 11:10 am

Ribcage? Has that man been driving a Porsche lately?!

  21. GreenBeret7 March 14th, 2011 at 11:12 am

This will be a must see tonight on MLB

Lets put it this way, I jokingly asked his mom if I should get him a subscription to People for his next birthday.

    Its scary what kids absorb.

  23. Doreen March 14th, 2011 at 11:13 am

When the heck did that happen? Wow.

See, these things to end up working themselves out. Colon will be the long man until Mitre is back. Nova and Garcia in the rotation. Or any which way they want to work it out.

Just woke up(woohoo spring break!) and read that Manny is starting the game tonight. That must be one heck of a birthday present. I hope I’m not too nervous for him that I can’t watch. Also cool that its Aceves vs. Banuelos since they were signed together.

I’m excited for tonight, if I hadn’t wasted all my money on my trip to Viera I’d drive down to sarasota to see it live.

  26. Pat M. March 14th, 2011 at 11:17 am

GB….Can’t wait to see that…..Pay attention to how quick Babe’s hands are and when you considers the club he was swinging makes this that more impressive…..The Babe had some serious bat speed

  27. pat March 14th, 2011 at 11:20 am

Sox likely to play close to an “A” line-up tonight so good measuring stick for the young one. It being a nationally televised game will test how cool a customer Mr B is tonight.

  28. GreenBeret7 March 14th, 2011 at 11:20 am

Pat, those are clips I want to see. Cobb, Ruth, and how in the world could Walter Johnson find that kind of speed throwing sidearm? These will be clips to record and what more than once.

  29. MG March 14th, 2011 at 11:21 am

As Doreen so aptly noted, things usually wind up working out by themselves. If Mitre is out for awhile there is no extra pitching and all three guys (Nova, Colon, Garcia) can go north. That’s why getting bent out of shape about what could happen long before the decision needs to be made is a complete waste of time and energy.

On another note, I would consider Banuelos untouchable in any kind of trade, he can be something very special.

lol. I woke up this morning and said, one of my birthday wishes for today is that either Banuelos or Betances pitch & viola! Banuelos is starting. I can’t take all the credit. However, there has to be some Piscean reason for this move, considering Banuelos’s birthday was yesterday, and mine is today. ;)

How far is Sarasota from you?

Surprised that Eric Chavez is making the long bus trip. Girardi didn’t want him to make the trip to Viera vs. the Nationals.

  33. MannyBanuelos March 14th, 2011 at 11:26 am

No chance he makes the big club (despite my desire for him to do so). We’re talking about a guy with limited experience even at AA, and a season with only 90 IP under his belt. In 2012, there is a real chance you see him up with the Yankees. Right now, his best fit is in AA to continue to log innings (130-140 is a realistic target this year).

  34. upstate kate March 14th, 2011 at 11:29 am

    Happy Birthday Yankeefem!

    Enjoy your Spring Break Tyanks!

Looking forward to seeing Manny. It will be a good learning experience for him, regardless of the outcome.

  35. GreenBeret7 March 14th, 2011 at 11:31 am

I thought that Richie Allen’s 40 ounce bat was a club, but Ruth with that 48-52 ounce warclub is unbelievable. Until Allen, the biggest I’d seen used in a game was Bob Cerv’s 35 inch, 36 ounce bat. In ’61, when Mantle tore a muscle in his arm , he used Cerv’s bat in the September Detroit series and hit homers off of Bunning and Staley on a Sunday game. Amazing strength to pull a Jim Bunning fastball that far with a bat that size.

  36. yankeefeminista March 14th, 2011 at 11:31 am

I am not looking forward to seeing Aceves pitch against. :(

With Manny it is more about age and inning restrictions than limited experience. He has the mechanics down and could pitch in mlb now.

  37. ac1 March 14th, 2011 at 11:31 am

looks like garcia, colon and nova can all go north now.

My pleasure YankeeFem. That should be some great videos. I’ll make a DVD of it.

Thanks, Doreen. Did you get tickets for Trenton yet? I am still waiting to see who is pitching when.

Happy Birthday! What a great birthday surprise. I knew he was pitching today but when I saw my twitter saying he was starting I got a mix of nervousness and excitement. He has pretty good defense behind him tonight so hopefully he doesn’t get tortured with balls that roll between infielders since that happens to him a lot. It should be a fun game for him though regardless.

Sarasota is about an hour away and then I’d have to buy a ticket and expose myself to Red Sox fans so ill just watch it on TV.

  44. blake March 14th, 2011 at 11:37 am

I hope the Sox start a lot of their regulars. I want to see how Manny does…..

    Yankeefem,

Yes from what I’ve seen, mechanically and stuff wise he’s ready now….

  45. GreenBeret7 March 14th, 2011 at 11:39 am

If anybody is making a trip to Tampa area in April, I recommend taking in a Tampa Yankee game and watch Brett Marshall pitch and keep an eye on Rob Lyerly at 1st or 3rd. Not the glove, the bat.

  46. Doreen March 14th, 2011 at 11:41 am

    yankeefeminista -

I’m waiting, too, on Trenton Tickets. Although with all the excitement about Banuelos and Betances, that might not be the best approach. :)

Although he ticketed for AAA to start the season, it would be good to see Mark Prior as the long man out of the bullpen. Need to see more of Colon before giving him a major league contract. He’ll get 2 more starts to prove his worth.

Thanks, tyf! I laughed out loud when I saw Manny was not only pitching, but starting. Yes, it should be good for him. If he stays on this sched, I am guessing he won’t pitch in the opening home series for Trenton, but in the second one.

Are Red Sox fans that bad down there even in an exhibition game?

  50. tyanksfan36 March 14th, 2011 at 11:51 am

I only know one Red Sox fan. I’ve never been to a game against them but I’m planning on going in july when the red sox play the rays(johnny damon bobblehead night)
