Chat starting at noon
Primarily wanted to remind everyone that we have a chat starting at noon.
Also, I talked to Brian Cashman about 30 minutes ago. Pedro Feliciano is getting his second opinion from Dr. Andrews today, but that visit hasn’t happened yet and the Yankees aren’t sure they’ll know anything for certain until tomorrow. Even if Andrews makes his recommendation today, Feliciano might wait a day to make a final decision about whether to have surgery.

Toronto is really working DiceBB’s count. :/
Considering his age and that there is a reasonable chance that he will never pitch again, Feliciano should take as much time as he needs.

Reposting this article about pitching to contact, its good.
Also if you click over to the next article, Brian Heyman gets called out for bashing Joba. WCYF should pop on over to defend another of the Heyman clan.
Dice-K has pitched two scoreless innings to start the game. Officially a great outing for him.

I hope it is better than just “and you’re ugly too.”
Pitching to contact is like smallball. You only do it if you have a skillset deficit.
Good pitchers pitch to weak contact
blake – good pitchers “induce” weak contact, they don’t pitch to it on purpose.
Bashing Joba? You mean telling the truth about what many of us have thought all along?
ID,
Yes they do….they throw certain pitces to induce weak contact. Change ups to get a roll over grounded etc…Doc Halladay doesn’t try to strike every hitter out…..he’d throw too many pitches if he did that. He’d rather get 3 ground outs and throw 6 pitches.
Jerkface – remember this moment. WC has now gone from bashing Joba, to thinking he’s doing a good job and belongs in the 7th, to saying it’s what he’s thought about him all along.
Stay tuned for next week’s version. (Hint: it will be totally based on whatever Joba is doing at the moment…)
Gee Trisha you are finally catching on. One evaluates someone based on their current performance; not what they did in the past or what you think or hope they will do in the future. At least smart and knowledgeable baseball fans do.
When Joba pitches well he will get praise from me. When he doesn’t he won’t.
What I have said all along is that Joba was overrated and over-hyped. That he is often a good pitcher, not a great pitcher and that the Yankees made the right decision putting him in the pen as he could not sustain adequate velocity and go multiple innings effectively as a starter.
