Hughes ready for rehab assignment

Phil Hughes was encouraged by today’s bullpen and said he’s expecting to make a rehab start in five days.

Hughes isn’t sure where he’ll make that start, but Larry Rothschild told him he thinks he’s ready to make a start, probably going about five innings.

Hughes will continue to do his arm strengthening exercises between now and then, with a lot of long toss and one regular bullpen.

“I felt like balls were coming out pretty good,” Hughes said. “We’ll have to wait and see.”

Alex ate lunch at PF Changs today reported by Wally. Hopefully that is the meal to have right before you hit 2 bombs later in the evening.

GB7, thanks for the mLB reports. There’s no other way to get them down here.

  6. tomingeorgia April 23rd, 2011 at 5:07 pm

Unless the Green Jackets play the River Dogs.

  7. pat April 23rd, 2011 at 5:12 pm

Good news for Hughes. Anti-inflammatizing is the new oblique.

I second the vote for the PF Chang Chicken Lettuce Wraps and raise you an order of Mongolian Beef.

  8. GreenBeret7 April 23rd, 2011 at 5:12 pm

    after 6 innings, Scranton losing, 2-0. Mitchell, 6 innings, 4 hits, 2 runs, 2 walks, 3 strikeouts, 1 HB, 1 WP. 9 groundouts, 4 flyouts, 83 pitches, 50 strikes

My pkeasure, Tom. Nothing else starts until 7 PM.

  9. GreenBeret7 April 23rd, 2011 at 5:14 pm

Tom, did you know that you can get free radio feeds on all of the minor league games except Tampa Yanks, on http://www.milb.com

  10. Shame Spencer April 23rd, 2011 at 5:15 pm

    “83 pitches, 50 strikes”

    Nice.

  11. tomingeorgia April 23rd, 2011 at 5:16 pm

Aren’t anti-inflammatory drugs mostly steroids? They were when I last hurt my back.

  12. Joe from Long Island April 23rd, 2011 at 5:18 pm

Best mongolian beef I ever had was when I lived in Chicago, southside, and went to my alltime favorite Chinese restaurant – Hung Fah Lo.

    I kid you not….

  13. tomingeorgia April 23rd, 2011 at 5:19 pm

GB7, Thanks for the information. I’ll try it, but we run an inn here, so I sometimes can’t do it. All the same, thanks for keeping me up to date.

  14. UnKnown April 23rd, 2011 at 5:20 pm

I am so glad MO doesn’t do any of the Theatrics that other closers do such as K-Rod and Valverde. It looks so stupid.

  15. Joe from Long Island April 23rd, 2011 at 5:20 pm

timingeorgia – while corticosteroids are potent anti-inflammatory agents, there are also non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, things like Motrin, Aleve, etc….

  16. stuckey99 April 23rd, 2011 at 5:20 pm

Many are, but this is a whole class called NSAIDs, which are “non-steroidal”.

Your guess is as good as mine which they use.

  17. stuckey99 April 23rd, 2011 at 5:21 pm

    there is

  18. pat April 23rd, 2011 at 5:22 pm

Steroids can be ani-inflammatory but so can Advil. Depends on how big an inflammation you need to anti.

Slow news day……Alex’s review of PF Chang Baltimore- Hated it! (Men on Film- In Living Color)

BloggingBombers Garcia starts Sunday. Burnett-Nova-Colon-Sabathia vs. White Sox.

The pitching rotation for tomorrow and the White Sox series.

Oh and I vote for the lettuce wraps as well.

  20. FanSince1948 April 23rd, 2011 at 5:23 pm

    @Tom

1: Different kind of steroids – corticosteriods, not anabolic steroids.

    2: I believe he’s taking stuff like Alleve or Motrin – Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drug (=NSAID)

Second both the lettuce wraps and the Mongolian beef!

  21. GreenBeret7 April 23rd, 2011 at 5:24 pm

Except for the one wild inning, Mitchell was outstanding. 7 innings, 4 hits, 2 runs (earned), 2 walks, 6 strikeouts, 1 WP, 2 HB. 102 pitches, 65 strikes, 10 groundouts, 4 flyouts

Scranton batting in the 7th inning, trailing 2-0.

2 of the 4 hits off of Mitchell were infield hits

  22. tomingeorgia April 23rd, 2011 at 5:28 pm

Joe from Long Island and Stuckey99, Thanks for the information. I was on some steroid or the other, then switched to ibrofrufen at prescription dose (which happens to be three OTC pills at a time. I’ll bet, though, Stuckey, they’re not using NSAIDs.

  23. GreenBeret7 April 23rd, 2011 at 5:31 pm

    Scranton loses, 2-0.

    final box score

Thanks for all of the updates today.

  25. GreenBeret7 April 23rd, 2011 at 5:34 pm

Tom, I’ll update the others in the system throughout the night. happy to help.

You aren’t up around, Helen, GA or Deloniga, are you?

  26. GreenBeret7 April 23rd, 2011 at 5:35 pm

My pleasure, fran. happy to help out

  27. tomingeorgia April 23rd, 2011 at 5:38 pm

GB7, We’re about 50-60 miles from there, in the Piedmont, between Augusta and Athens. Beautiful around here!

  28. hardwired7 April 23rd, 2011 at 5:39 pm

This is no small thing. Phil Hughes is an important cog moving forward for the Yanks.

  29. tomingeorgia April 23rd, 2011 at 5:41 pm

    It starts again.

  30. GreenBeret7 April 23rd, 2011 at 5:41 pm

Tom, it really is…probably the most beautiful spot in GA. Love being in Helen in the wintertime, around Christmas. The town looks sensational. Usually, just enough snow to make it look all Currier and Ives with all of the chalet style buildings.

  31. tomingeorgia April 23rd, 2011 at 5:46 pm

GB7, Wish I could just send you our website address without being trolled. Any way I can do it privately? I’d love to swap storied with you over a glass of beer, or something else.

  32. GreenBeret7 April 23rd, 2011 at 5:48 pm

Tom, only through Chad, I would think, Not sure if I contact him and ok it or if you send yours to him to forward.

  33. tomingeorgia April 23rd, 2011 at 5:53 pm

GB7, I’ll leave word with Chad to send you our web site and email tonight. I think you’d like it here.

not to get all paranoid, but I hope this has nothing to do w/me. I’ve been posting here for some time, and if I’m viewed as a troll I’ll beat feet. No big deal.

  35. kd April 23rd, 2011 at 5:54 pm

what’s the weather like? will they get the game in?

  36. 108 stitches April 23rd, 2011 at 5:58 pm

I just can’t see Millwood on the 25-man roster by May 1st. There’s other options.

  37. GreenBeret7 April 23rd, 2011 at 5:59 pm

Brad Penny loses his no hitter with two outs in the 6th inning on an infield hit Brett Morel to Inge at 3rd base. He had a HB earlier and now a walk

  38. GreenBeret7 April 23rd, 2011 at 6:00 pm

    Thanks, Tom. Much appreciated.

  39. tomingeorgia April 23rd, 2011 at 6:01 pm

    GB7, Did it.

  40. GreenBeret7 April 23rd, 2011 at 6:03 pm

H-Wired. I think it started earlier when somebody posted that Feliz was DL’s and I said that I hope they didn’t give him anti-inflammatories. We had a load of that crap the other day with Hughes getting some for inflamed shoulder from The Typical Two.

Anybody who says “beat feet” is ok by me.

BTW isn’t beat feet a distance cousin to Tar Heels?

    Sorry…. :D

  42. GreenBeret7 April 23rd, 2011 at 6:04 pm

Thanks, Tom. I’ll check it in a little bit. I need to do a reboot and a little computer clean-up shortly.

  43. GreenBeret7 April 23rd, 2011 at 6:07 pm

Isn’t everyone in the South a distant cousin, Tar?

  44. tomingeorgia April 23rd, 2011 at 6:10 pm

Six Degrees of Separation, in the South? Less than that.

    I feel so empowered…..

  46. SAS April 23rd, 2011 at 6:12 pm

Why in the whole world Arod went to P.F. Chang’s with all the wonderful crab down there is a mystery to me. However, if he enjoys it most and makes him hit a ton, I am all for it.

    ———————————————————————————————-

    GB,

I haven’t said hello in ages because of all the stupid bickering about whoever. How is every going? I want to wish you and your family a very Happy Easter. I hope you are spending the day with them.

  48. GreenBeret7 April 23rd, 2011 at 6:18 pm

Good afternoon, SAS. Hope al is well with you and family. Sorry to hear about your pet being in bad shape. Hope for the best for you. Pets mean a lot to most people….unless he is “Killer”. Would you like a pizza gnawing, beer swilling, lazy dog?

  49. Tar April 23rd, 2011 at 6:19 pm

“Isn’t everyone in the South a distant cousin, Tar?”

Yeah I guess you’re right. Say hi cousin to jerkface at the next reunion for me.

  50. GreenBeret7 April 23rd, 2011 at 6:25 pm

Tar, even The jer’k close family won’t talk to him. The last time they talked to him, he pulled out a spreadsheet to show why the number of people in family don’t mean much. The Family Metrics says that errors don’t mean anything….it’s the number of chnces they had.

  51. Tar April 23rd, 2011 at 6:30 pm

    :D

That kind of talk is going to make LGY mad at you!
