Teixeira and Jeter out of the lineup
It’s been raining off and on all afternoon. The tarp is on the field. Derek Jeter and Mark Teixeira are out of the lineup.
Curtis Granderson CF
Nick Swisher RF
Robinson Cano 2B
Alex Rodriguez 3B
Eric Chavez 1B
Russell Martin C
Jorge Posada DH
Brett Gardner LF
Eduardo Nunez SS

Nunez gets a start I know the Nunez supporters are happy about that.
Tex has that sore shoulder, and would benefit from rest. This is what having Chavez on the roster is all about.
ah the beauty of having Eric Chavez
Who is this “Nunez” person?
We’re one month into the season and today Nunez might actually get 3 PA in a row!
Rainouts .. and … scheduled … off-days … still … don’t … compute … circuits … overloading …
Still a pretty darn good lineup.
Yay Nunez
Funky lineup but I like it! We got some talent on our pines.
Trader,
thanks for that link…yea that is a pretty good list and I agree with it pretty much. Tex will be up close to the top of it health permitting.

it’s good to have a dream…
Alex (Staten Island, NY): If the Mariners do decide to trade King Felix this year, can the Yankees pull off a trade without having to give up Montero, Banuelos or Betances? I’m thinking Brackman, Romine/Gary Sanchez, Nova, Noesi, Eduardo Nunez, Dave Adams/Corban Joseph and Heathcott can get it done.
Jim Callis: No. The Mariners aren’t going to trade Hernandez and let any team hold onto its three most advanced prospects. The Yankees already were willing to trade Montero to the Mariners last year, so I’d assume he’d be part of any deal. For King Felix, New York probably has to include Banuelos or Betances, too. And I wouldn’t trade him if I were running Seattle.
lol I think I broke this blog.

Callis is right on that one….no way Seattle would trade Felix to the Yanks without taking their best prospects.
If Jeter wasn’t sucking big time against RHP he would be playing today.
I like Posada right in front of Gardner and Nunez.
Make sure the bases are clear one way or another before the speedsters come up.
JF, you thought that deserved two goes at it, huh?
Team don’t manage playing time anticipating future injuries. They rest players when they need rest, not rest players when they don’t need rest to keep a bench guy “fresh” just in case there is an injury.
That’s wholly owned fanboy strategy.
If Nunez goes out tonight and plays great defense and goes 3-4, prepare for insanity.
clever Nick
I don’t like Cashman’s “House” reference in regards to Hughes situation! Sure House is smart. But he’s wrong for 50 minutes every show, tortures the patients with incorrect treatments and almost kills the patient before he finally finds the answer in the last 3 minutes!
I hope Phil has better luck than that!
Nunez certainly needs the work.

Why does Jeter need rest?
He has only played 5 games in a row.

What makes you think Jeter doesn’t need rest? What if Jeter played better with more rest? Why not platoon him a bit? The only thing stopping Jeter from participating in a REAL BASEBALL STRATEGY of making sure players who deserve it get playing time, is that his name is Derek Jeter. Its pretty sound baseball strategy to get some playing time for your bench guys, assuming they are worth it.
You obviously do not think Nunez is worth giving playing time, but his prospect status and my opinion differ in that regard.
If Phil can be cured in 53 minutes, that would be awesome (even if he’s tortured for the first 50).
“Why does Jeter need rest?”
Because he can barely get the ball out of the infield.
